How about fixing the damn Music app so it's more usefull and easier and more intuitie to operate?
Like the most basic function - shuffle. In previous app (and all iphones before it) you've just clicked the shuffle icon in the play bar and that ment that every next song you're going to play it's going to be random. What about now? The only option for it is that you actually click above all songs the "Shuffle songs" but the moment you decide to browse the library for some song, that you want to liste to at that moment, the shuffle option gets turned off and you have to do it all again! Sooooooo effin retarded.
And dont get me started about the playlists. When i click certain playlist i want to actually see the songs in it before i listen to it. But noooooo, if i actually want to see the songs i have to navigate to recently played playlists and see the contents in there. I have no idea what they were thinking with this stupid stuff, they either deserve a congressional medal of honor for this remarkable achievemnt, or getting fired from a job.

If Apple Music becomes a cable alternative, there's a vastly higher chance that I'll subscribe to it.

As a music service, it's just a low quality version of Spotify at roughly the same price.

I have been contemplating an Apple Music subscription but with the description of these upcoming TV programs I am inclined to abstain from a subscription simply to avoid seeing the mere offering of this garbage.
I can see what you're saying. I waited a long time, trying other services, before signing up with AM. At student pricing, the library size, and the interconnectivity between my devices via a built-in app, I love it now. It was such a change to go from 'buying' music for my library, to simply having everything available*.

Besides, I don't use Connect, or any other garbage sub-service; I just like the music. I suspect we will have the option of ignoring these other, trendy, new sub-services as well.

*MOST of Apple's full music library is available for streaming through AM; it is a rare scenario when I can't find a piece by browsing through the AM catalog, forcing me to subsequently buy the track. Again, super rare for me that this happens. YMMV.

Kewl. As long as their focus is NOT on computers, like it has NOT been over the last couple of years.

At least that way, the mass exodus won't feel quite as bad. Better to be told you are not important, than to be strung along for years and years.

Or you could join now, enjoy the content and then revoke payment if/when the service adds content you'd rather not be paying for.

But I don't want it to be an entire pop cultural experience. I just want it to be a place where I can listen to my music and possibly share my opinion on it. That's all.

You have that. It's called iTunes and Facebook.

Throughout all this I wonder just how successful Beats1 is these days. I don't know ANYONE who listens to it, and every time I think about giving it another try I hear nothing but hiphop. Seems like this was another great idea that went nowhere. I've had an Apple Music sub since day 1, and on a daily basis I wonder why I haven't killed it yet.

You want to succeed in television? Take a hard look at Netflix, and do that with iTunes.

1. Subscription based access to everything in iTunes movies and tv shows, just like you did with Music.

2. Throw a ton of money at making really good exclusive series to draw people in (think Walking Dead, Breaking Bad, Westworld, etc)

3. Price competitively.

Apple, I'm begging you, please spin the content section/folks into a separate subsidiary - before the company is corrupted. You can't serve two masters and the content angle is very different from making hardware, giving people privacy and a great experience.

Love you're idea. Apple should do this, make it externalized. Otherwise, as the importance and power of the content section of the company grows (and its been growing), it'll shift Apple's focus from a great experience (we're already seeing issues with that on a number of levels, not necessarily content related) to one where protecting the security of "their" content IP assumes greater and greater importance (the downside of that is huge, one being the U.S. govt becomes their best friend in protecting content IP).
I'm for anything that removes Eddy Cue from overseeing Apple's cloud and AI services. Cue has way too much on his plate and content has nothing to do with those other things. My fear though is what I outlined will never happen and Cue & Co. will just waste time dinking around with some content that gets buried within Apple Music and takes focus away from the real issues Apple has with Siri, cloud, ML, AI etc. Whatever Apple does for gods sake don't make Jimmy Iovine the face of it. He talks nonsense most of the time.

Oh gosh please, please, please stop.

Whilst the Mac line-up is suffering, operating systems being severely neglected, AirPod stock is non-existent, etc...

Their sights are targeted at Carpool Karaoke, developers version of X-Factor with Gweneth Platrow, and whatever other loads of junk entertainment these guys are Cooking up to conform to Emoji culture to stay "hip"...

(Also their failed car project, can't wait, uh & Siri in a living room box!)

Steve's legacy everybody, right here.

Agreed. Spreading themselves too thin. They should focus on the technology that delivers a great consumer experience from media vendors, not be a media vendor/producer themselves. They are so focused on making dollars from services and consumption, they have let that overshadow their tangible products.

Timmy, you can tease us with "there's great stuff in the pipeline" all you want, but it means nothing until you actually deliver.

Subscription to everything available in iTunes? Do you know what that would cost? Easily $100 a month.

They can do it but it needs to be a separate entity that just financially consolidates with the rest of Apple.

If Netflix can do it for $10, I don't see why Apple couldn't do it for $20.

$29.99/mo for movies, music, tv
$44.99/mo family plan

It is that already.

Apple Music = Years behind Spotify

Spotify has a 10 year head start. Even if your wild statement was true, what did you expect?

It's ironic.. the old Apple would make the best of the acquisition.
Having infinite cash oft-means you could afford to terrible mistakes and able to get away from it.

Apple stopped making good computers a long time ago. Starting with the dumb iPod. Also, it was Steve Jobs himself who dropped "Computer" from Apple Computer. For Christ's sake, they took out the floppy drive when I wasn't ready to drop it and they took out the optical drive with the MacBook Air. Ridiculous that people play thousands of dollars for a machine that can't play Blu-Ray discs. I took a stand. No Blu-Ray, no buy. I'm voting with my wallet. "I stand with Blu-Ray."

Sad to think that Ive, Mansfield, Federighi, Riccio, Srouji, Dye, Howarth are now going to be making TV shows.

It is possible for Apple to do more than one thing at a time. Most people here think they don't do enough.

Yay! Wonder who's gonna watch when we're all forced to move to Microsoft's Windows 10 Creative edition because we want a touch screen and ports?

"If South Park walks into my office, I am not going to say you're not musicians, you know?" Iovine continued when pressed about the report. "We're going to do whatever hits popular culture smack on the nose. We're going to try."

Dear God, why does Apple still allow Iovine to make public announcements? His attempts to speak intelligibly are embarrassing.

You do realize iTunes has WAY more content than Netflix does. Are there any TV shows or movies that you can't purchase on iTunes? The movie selection on Netflix is pathetic. Of course that's not why most people subscribe.
