I do agree you expected it to work as shown in the images. I would too. But it's too late for that. This is a DESIGN FLAW issue here and it's worth making Apple go back and fix it.

It's definately nit-picking, expecting something sold to work as intended..

FIXED.

Great example of an Apple fanboi, covering up a faulty phone with some cheap plastic should be everyones approach to fixing this. The phones do not work as intended. As has already been said, if Apple wanted us to have to use the bumper - make it part of the phone.

I won't hide fandom. I think the bumper should be free. I think they should say it should be apart of the phone and say sorry.

But if they don't I am not going to worry about it. I already know what I want to do with the problem.

I am not trying to sugar coat anything. I just don't see a physical solution to having a naked phone in your left hand and great signal strength. It's just not going to happen as I see it. Spilt milk stop crying.

Yeah you could return the phone. But again for me I don't care.

In my job, I have to find ways to make things work sometimes there's a beautiful solution, many times there is not.

Comparing the consequences of serious brain injury to getting a scratch on an iPhone? Get a grip! It's not an investment! Excuse the heresy, but it really is just a phone.

Are you aware that NOT ALL iPhone 4 are doing this?
Mine works just fine.

Thats a good point, i can MAKE it do it, but pressing the black line very hard. However without applying excessive force it doesnt seem to make any difference how i cover it.

It sortof worried my left handed friend who is planning on buying one, all the scaremongering in the news. After he tried mine he was re-assured, and is still planning on buying one.

More annoyingly, i cant get MMS messaging to work...

Has anyone tried anything like putting a small strip of tape over the antenna to see if this corrects the bridging issue? May be a temporary solution.

I found a solution for this so called "non-issue" and contacted Apple, asking if they want to buy my patent technology – I actually filed a patent for this yesterday. No reply yet of course!

Note: I am about to sell 50% of my stock – worth 40 million dollar – and purchase a Greek isle, to turn it into my very own tax free place.

Ya, maa bu ma guma ya bumisha bu?

The iPhone 4 has been a failure from the start. First it was leaked, then it was leaked again in white. Then there was a massive fail with pre-orders between the servers slowing down to a stand still to AT&T having privacy issues. Then the phones gets to people's door up to two days early (not bad if you were one of the those people). Then problems with the screens having yellow spots. And finally this MAJOR problem with the antenna. Oh yeah and that whole issue that we're still stuck with AT&T.

Edit: Forgot about the Keynote failure as well.

LMAO. How is the phone getting leaked is an issue?

How is AT&T servers slowing down an issue?

How is phones arriving early for some people an issue? (Which happens pretty much every time)

I agree that the antenna is an actual issue but you just lose all credibility with stupid posts like this.

You really are a silly billy.:D

But it's my life. I wear a helmet everytime I ride. I feel like I would be stupid not to. But it should be my choice. That's what freedom is about. Research also shows that if we all drive 5 mph then deaths would drop 2000%. Let's make that a law too. Less government is good.

Noooo, we need all these laws protecting us from ourselves. Otherwise, natural selection would deplete the population.

6 of one, half a dozen of another. You were offered a solution you can take it or leave it.

I do agree you expected it to work as shown in the images. I would too. But it's too late for that. This is a real physics issue here and it's not worth making Apple go back and fix it.

It's nit-picking.

Remember the Hubble? They didn't pull it out of the sky or send it back. They just did something different and ended up with something better in the long run.

We are all human and perfection is to be anticipated but when we can't have it, it shouldn't be a deal breaker, which I am hearing so many people cry.

I see your butt is talking again. I can't see how dropped calls is nit-picking. What is a phone for again? Two things that Steve bragged about was the new slim design and external antenna. Well I guess both have gone out of the window now because the only way the phone will work (as advertised) is with a case which makes the phone bigger and covers up the antenna. Yes we are all human and as humans we should accept our mistakes, Apple on the other hand do not and blame the end user. As for it not being worth Apple going back and fixing the issue what kind of comment is that? Their reputation is at stake and that should make it worth it.

The only stopping me from returning is that mine is inconsistent. My natural phone holding pattern when on a call doesn't seem to affect it by much if ever.

However when i intentionally block the bottom left it sometimes drops to zero and sometimes by a few bars BUT at all testing times i have never dropped a call. That said i have excellent signal here, what would happen in an area with poor signal.

Also there's no other phone out there i like and i'd rather not go back to the 3GS after using this. Grrr!

My good man! I was about to say the same thing :) It still performs remarkably well at most task, best Mac I ever had. Sadly, CS5 impends its retirement as my work horse.

Yeah, for me anything graphic-intense (even websites, or too many open tabs in Safari) bogs it down. I'm about ready to upgrade, possibly waiting for an iMac revision. i7 sure is looking tasty for my editing needs! Will be nice to not have a wind tunnel in my living room too. :)

Right you are, sir. And a minimalistic "case" that users who would've gone bare are likely to buy as a necessity now, and that Apple made no less.

The bumper only covers the edges so it doesn't add to the thickness. It seems to me that it would make it more comfortable to hold, but I have yet to try it.

On my phone, it's not just the bottom left...

When I hold the phone in my left hand in the normal manner, with the bottom left corner in my palm, signal strength drop from 5 bars to 1.

When I hold the phone in my right hand, with the bottom right corner in my palm, signal strength drops from 5 bars to 3.

When I hold the phone in 2 fingers, one on each side in the middle, signal strength drops from 5 bars to 4.

*buzzer* wrong. it adds something. even if it's to the "other" width. And hides that pretty chrome bezel. That was one of the things many people liked when the prototype first leaked. Made it look sleek.

5 to 4 or even 5 to 3 is normal for many phones.

5 to 1, in the other hand, is a significant issue. But obviously it seems to be a common issue for most iPhone 4's

LMAO. How is the phone getting leaked is an issue?

It's not bad or us, it's cool seeing a product early, although it makes the keynote far less interesting when you know what it looks like. It's bad for Apple, they don't like it when their products get leaked.

How is AT&T servers slowing down an issue?
Uh, if you tried to order one and you couldn't because the servers didn't work that's a problem.

I suppose you're right, that's not much of an issue.

I agree that the antenna is an actual issue but you just lose all credibility with stupid posts like this.

Lose all credibility? Like I had any to begin with or cared what usernames on a forum think.

How about you go away and come back and comment when you've actually got an iPhone 4. And it doesn't work properly.

How is the first part relevant? Ran out of arguments, matey?

Also, what doesn't work properly? The reception? But I never said otherwise!
