Why did they keep the usbc charging port on the bottom of the mouse?

I’ve yet to meet anyone who doesn’t find the white bezel and huge chin incredibly ugly.

I’ve also heard “that was 100% designed for women” multiple times, lol.
Hi. I’m a person that loves the white (light gray, actually) bezels and loves the chin. It’s because of the chin that we have such great speakers and also because of it that we don’t have a “thicker” middle part like every other display on All-In-Ones.
I also know quite a handful of people that like the design with the chin and white bezels.
I hope we count, so that you stop saying things like “not a single person likes it”.

The disappearing logo…wonder whether Jony’s fingerprints are on that one? Seems he loved to give more each year by taking something away each year. Or maybe some manager’s genius idea that consumers want an iMac to look as close to an iPad as possible…for that inevitable day an iPad can be docked into becoming an iMac. Sure seems inevitable doesn’t it?

If you order an iMac today, it’s a month-long wait to get a base model. Some configurations are delayed until late July. For a computer that is “fugly” with a power brick that screams people’s names, it seems to be selling rather well. It looks like Apple has a much better grasp of most people’s tastes than the MR Apple-haters crowd.
Can we choose the name it screams at checkout? Asking for a friend.

Not surprising. The new design has Ive’s fingerprints all over it - from the unnecessary thinness in a desktop (thus forcing the headphone jack to be on the side of the machine and the Ethernet port to be a part of the power adapter), to the dearth of ports, to the white bezels around the screen.

That being said, it is a beautiful machine - Jony Ives’ designs have always been beautiful. I just still wish there was less a focus on making things thin and light and more on repair and upgradability. Alas, that ship has thoroughly sailed at this point.

We were waiting until the release of the new imacs to replace a 2012 imac- which while it still runs, is very slow.

When we saw the design and price point we decided to get a Dell, i5 processor, 1.5Tb storage with ability to upgrade and it was half the price.

This linked with apples new focus on subscription services are pushing us away from the eco system we have been part of for a decade. (Including 4 macs, 2 ipods, 8 iphones, 8 ipads and 3 apple TVs over that period).

Just make it thin... so thin it's not deep enough for an ethernet port... and anyway, nobody will notice we built a desktop computer needing a power brick...
Exactly so. So thin when thin does not really matter in a desktop. Terrible design decisions but one in a series of many bad decisions. And in schools and offices all those power bricks just laying on the floor waiting to be kicked or tripped over. How elegant.

In fairness there are also people that love Apple and their products but also don't like the new iMac. It doesn't have to be binary. Folk are entitled to voice their opinion if they don't like it. In the end it's clearly a great computer and a technical achievement, so for those who also like the style it's a no-brainer purchase.

Still ugly though...
I'm not sure how much of a technical achievement it is though. I mean, what are the technical breakthroughs? Ethernet port in a power brick?

Dude, you’re getting a Dell? This iMac wipes the floor with anything that has an i5 processor.
