Sorry, I missed what you said about standing in PORTRAIT mode. Duh! Please excuse my temporary brain freeze!i just tested this, standing on a table. Understand, because the case's cover mimics that of the Apple Smart Cover, the only way to accomplish this position, is to fold the 4 sections into their triangle formation. Given the strong magnets, I could stand the case up in portrait mode, with the triangle giving support on just one side. The iPad ends up at a close to 90 degree angle from a horizontal surface. The triangle will not unfurl, but if tapped, I would be concerned about the iPad toppling over. This would not happen in landscape mode because said triangle provides a weighted, wider base, which provides better stability, if you get what I mean?
Thanks for that update. I'd really like to find a case that provides a comfortable and secure Portrait stand. Maybe the Ozaki iCoat Slim-Y or even the Joy Factory Folio360 III when that comes out would be better for this. Other than this one feature, the SmartSuit definitely has a lot to recommend it.
