not helping and standing in the way are two totally different things.

Haha, how is Apple standing in anyone's way? What I find so amusing about many people here is they claim to be so "tech savvy" yet, they can't even do a simple task and manage their iMessages before they switch over to an Apple competitor. Always expect their hand to be held but on the flip side pretend to know more about computers and business than Apple does. Go figure.

Lol, ok, but note that I'm American. We're not lazy, though def not sue happy.
I'm American, and though I, or you, may not be lazy, Americans are indeed lazy and sue-happy. It's the coddled social engineering of entitlement, hand-holding and superiority complexes that plague our once great land.

I'm sorry, but you can't say a nation that ranks low in everything (life expectancy, intellect, average income, etc) isn't lazy.

And sue happy? "It's MY MONEY, and I WANT IT NOW!"

Hahaha!

I'm not sure why posters like you continue to call people dumb when they have specifically followed the instructions. It would help if you read all the replies and reply to the specific posters that followed the instructions and are still having this issue.

I am not having this issue but i can see how this is frustrating to those who are still experiencing this issue. I replied to you because your the latest to say people are not following instructions. Its frustrating to see posters like you the same way it is to see posters complaining about Imessage who did not follow instructions.

As someone actually affected by this - when I went from my iPhone 5 to a Samsung Note 3, I noticed that all of my family and most of my friends (iPhone users) would receive my text messages but I would never get theirs, ever. Yes, I turned off iMessage on my iPhone, I de-registered my account via iCloud settings - waited 48 hours. Did that help? No. Two weeks later, I was still having problems getting text messages from family/friends/iPhone users UNLESS they turned on the (off by default) send as SMS if iMessage fails. But, I realized any iPhone user that I hadn't told to do this yet wouldn't be able to text me.

So I changed my phone number. Solved that problem. Yeah, it was a bit inconvenient but to be honest, I wanted a different area code so it didn't bother me too much.

After my Note 3 I went back to Apple with the 6+. When Apple finally acknowledged the problem - I helped at least two people I know that went Android from iOS solve the problem with that website Apple put out (lucky them!).
One of them went back to Apple like I did too.

It didn't cost me anything to change my phone number with Verizon Wireless. Sure, it was a little inconvenient but I'm not sure how you could sue. Was it right? Meh, iMessage is pretty cool and no product is 100% perfect.

The Lower courts have said that Apple conspired to fix prices. But the story isn't over. Apple has appealed to the Supreme Court and their case has been accepted to be heard by the court. We'll see how it turns out. Stay tuned.

No matter what the appeals court say, the ridiculous $2300/Hr ($1200 for himself and $1100 for his own law firm, since he is not familiar with the regarding laws, says himself) "salary" has already been very happily pocketed by the assigned friend-of-the-judge supervisor.

Where is the real justice that our legal system is supposed to provide in this matter? Such an obvious serious crime can be safely exposed to the public without any prosecution!!!

so you acknowledge the difference between standing in the way and not helping?

you are standing in the way when peoples messages dont reach their destination. seems fairly obvious.

which tech savvy people are you referring to?

what managing are you referring to? please post the instructions from apple released when imessage started on how to accomplish this task.

I think it's been established that this a problem resolved by turning off iMessages...so, yes.

where and when was that established

Let's just recognize that the court dismissed this silly suit so they obviously don't share the same opinion as you or some others here do about "Standing in someone's way". Here's the comedy sketch; "Apple how dare you try and stop me from leaving you (which stops me from spending money with you) and buying your main competitor's product and feeding them". :D

hmm did you read why it was dismissed? dont think you did because you would see that 2 of the plaintiffs no longer have the apple device and the 3rd one wanted to be removed from suit.. so they didnt continue because of that not because he didnt agree

No hard feelings towards kildraik, you or Texas. Love Texas. Just didn't appreciate his "all Americans are idiots" generalization. Hug?

Ha! So for the two years before Apple issued a "fix", that single set of footprints in the sand belonged to Apple.
Hand held. Tehe.
You seem to forget the "manage iMessages" wasn't even widely known by Apple's employees. The general public was even less aware. The fact is, porting a phone number shouldn't be an ordeal. For all of Apple's lip service about simplicity and ease of use, this wasn't.

Out of curiosity...for those that think Apple paid off Judge Koh to make this case go away, what do you view as an equitable solution? Do you feel Apple should've paid these three people millions of dollars because they had difficulty receiving some texts on their new phone?

what do you call "difficulty"?

this issue has and had gotten past the stage of being an unknown bug to being an issue that apple is well aware of and dosent solve. if it would have taken them millions in fines to fix then fine. if a simple email (which i dont doubt they received) then great as well.

the disregard for peoples time and money is amazing.

Im not sure you understand the issue. The problem that this case was about, was previous Iphone owners who switched to android, kept their same phone number, and their phones were still "signed into" imessage and so they would not receive them. The issue you describe in your post is not one that was addressed in this case and if that is happening to you, you should probably talk to your carrier.

I've actually had both , not recieving messages when I switched to android / Windows , and also when back with Apple, sent the message via iMessage, but when I got a reply on iMessage it would not arrive to all my devices, it would arrive to my iPad with iMessage switched on, but not to my iPhone, that's not a carrier issue.

Either way, I've lost faith in iMessage and it's been off since the days of iPhone 5.

So what kind of value are putting on their time and money? Did they suffer some sort of financial hardship because of this? I think many of you feel that Apple needs to pay through their nose for any infraction because they're Apple.
