Off the back of my Father in Law replacing his iPhone 4 with a 5c, my Sister in Law got her own 5c last night, coming from a Blackberry.

She loves it, can't believe how fast it is and now "responsive the screen is".

I'm actually an avid Samsung fan. I was really conflicted when I saw the iPhone 5c. It felt good and had me actually seriously consider getting it.

The blue color was positively gorgeous to my eyes. I used to really bash iPhone for their lack of variety to be honest.

But....

I'm content with my Note III and now my iPhone 5c. I feel very well rounded now. ^_^

wow .... note 3 and iphone 5c are quite different in every aspect. Interesting to find someone who loves both.

The plastic feels incredible, and it looks amazing. It looks better than 5S imho. They should dump the aluminium and go with plastic from now on for all models.

And this certainly is not the same kind of plastic on other plastic phones. I have never seen plastic looking like that.

Yeah the plastic looks good, now ... but what about six months from now?

I'm thinking back when Apple made the white plastic MacBooks, they looked good initially but after 6 months to a year of use they did not look so good.

I think any phone has the potential to look horrible if it's not taken care of. No matter the material, it'll show some wear if you don't take care if it. I've owned a ton of "Plastic" phones and they've all fetched an amazing price when I've sold them.

Glass scratches, cracks and can become discolored. No matter the material, it'll still be obvious if it's abused right?

I own the 5s and I've had a hands-on experience with the 5c. I too reckon the latter does look and feel premium, unlike many other "plastic" phones out there. I most likely would have picked the blue 5C if it had the internals of the 5s.

I knocked the 5c at first, but if you can get it at a good price off-contract(well under $400) or for free on contract I'd definitely go for it. It feels great in the hand(kind of reminiscent of the 3G/3GS) and very, very solid.

Mr. Cook actually had to defend the fact that the 5c isn't actually a cheap phone. They seem like they're having trouble making people aware that it's not cheap or second rate.

They advertise that phone much more than the 5s.

Of course they advertise the C more. The S sells itself:)

I think the reason they advertise it more is because they want to catch the eyes of a non-Apple enthusiast.

It was a very well planned strategy, as an Android user such as myself, noticed it.

Well just a few months ago, it was the iPhone 5 that was in the spotlight. I don't know about you, but I like to see my favorite products advertised.

Which I am, with the 5c... but also I'd like to see the 5s get more screentime.

It's odd, and it's the first time this has happened, but I find myself wanting the C more than S. When I go to the Apple Store I try out both, and I always spend more time on the C.

My father and sister in law have recently got C's and three people in work got one in the last couple of weeks. I know I should want the S because it's more "future proof" and it's nothing to do with cost, I just find myself "drawn" (for lack of a better word) to the iPhone 5c ... that's not saying the S isn't one stunning looking piece of kit though.

No, what I meant was, they should have made the 5S plastic and the 5C aluminium. The flagship model with the best internals should have had the plastic case.
Obviously 5S is the better phone in terms of silicone, but the 5C looks better than the 5S. So combine the best looks with the best silicone imho.

I disagree completely. The 5S looks way better than the 5C.

That's all down to the over zealous and presumptuous tech sites and bloggers who rumoured for months that Apple was going to release a low cost iPhone. When the iPhone 5c came it was plastic these people wrongly assumed this was this low cost phone they had gone about for months.

These bloggers set themselves up for a fall and led everyone else off down completely the wrong path. The 5c was never intended to be a low cost or "cheap" iPhone, it just got lumbered with wrongly rumour and hype.

Well, that's not our problem. People are going to think what they are going to think based on what the product looks like.

Apple is the one that has to defend it. "Unapologetically plastic."

Who says that?

Had the "low cost iPhone" rumours not done the rounds the 5c wouldn't have been stuck with that moniker. That much is undeniable. People took 2 and 2 and came up with 5.

My main issue with the 5c is the way people with the 5s look down on the device and it's owners, I find it pathetic that some people let a smartphone define them, but that's elitist and nerds for you.

This is something we are going to discover

I actually think plastic used in 5c feels much better than 3G.
I wasn't particularly happy about 3G quality ....

but it is plastic though.. dont you think apple did themselves in because the company seems to have a prejudice for using plastic?

It's kind of like they're backtracking on their anti-plastic philosophy.

Considering Apple have never had an "anti plastic philosophy", I don't see what they've backtracked on in the slightest.

Millions of oeople, many on here, have told us daily for years how much better the Galaxy S3 or 4 are than our iPhones ... despite being very cheap feeling. I find the 5c in my brief time with one to be very ridged and feel extremely solid in terms of build.

A Galaxy S4 is plastic and sells for as much off contract as a 5c, yet for months we've had pro S4 threads and posts.

The 5c...

Apple said they wanted growth. Well, if they wanted growth, make bigger phone.

Doesn't work that way. I'll definitely buy a 5S or if I skip this gen, the next flagship model. But eventually I'll still wish that they had a plastic one with the best internals.

And majority of us will disagree with you. It wouldn't be a smart business move by Apple either.
