Top 100 Richest Rappers
#3. Jay Z - $550M
#13. Kanye West - $147M
#17. Drake - $100M
^ You really think any of these guys are looking for an Apple handout? LOL! Jay Z and Kanye are worth more than Jony Ive ($130M). Like calling Steve Ballmer an idiot but the guy is worth over $20B!
These people are successful entrepreneurs. I know all about the history of Dr. Dre. I was bumping "Nuthin But A 'G' Thang" way back as a 12-year old. Snoop Dogg's Doggystyle is my favorite rap album ever. Zero filler. Production values was top notch from start to finish. Bunch of suburban white kids trying to be black were making these rappers rich. Rap may not be art to some here, but it sure can make you rich.
Dr. Dre barely made a living being a dj making $50 per gig and he is now worth $700M. He probably convinced Jimmy Lovine to have Apple buy Beats for $3B. Overcharged? Yup, considering Star Wars was only sold for $4B to Disney and they recovered half of it with one film and Yahoo! is worth that much now after being worth 15x more back then.
Kanye West is no idiot. Yes, he has made some idiot moves with his life. He married Kim, didn't he and had two children with her? But to say he is an idiot or Jay Z? LOL! They are making more money than any of us here. Just because you own Apple products doesn't mean you are as rich as them. Anonymous posters who know nothing except posting worthless comments filled with hate and don't even know these people personally!
Kanye is just using strong-arm tactics hoping they can emulate what Dr. Dre did. Winning the powerball is luck.
Jay Z and Kanye are worth more than Hillary Clinton. That's not luck. There is some talent and hard work that got them this far. Kim Kardashian was already born from wealth. Jay Z and Kanye did not. Do you think anonymous posters know more money than these 9-figure Negro punks?
Should Apple buy Tidal? Nah. Better luck next time, Kanye. All of them have plenty of money and at least these guys aren't idiots with money like MC Hammer and Mike Tyson were. Apple can spare $1B easily though. Cool to see black music artists making money since their ancestors started many music genres...
Fun facts on some celebs...
- Dr. Dre loves Nirvana. "Stay Away" is one of his favorite songs. One of the albums he still kept was Bleach.
- Snoop Dogg and Willie Nelson are "homies" just like Harriet Tubman is Hillary Clinton's homegirl. Snoop even made a country song with Willie.
- Big Boi from OutKast idolizes Kate Bush. That's his all-time favorite artist next to Bob Marley. Big Boi is also good friends with Jane Fonda.
- Andre 3000, the other half of OutKast and portrayed Jimi Hendrix in a film, was into The Strokes and The Hives before. I love OutKast and The Strokes. But his idol is still Prince.
- Anthony Bourdain once said on Twitter he prefers The Chronic over Doggystyle album. I agree although I like The Chronic and 2001. Nice to know a Baby Boomer white guy listens to gangsta rap.
- BONE Thugs-N-Harmony actually made a song with Phil Collins.
- Speaking of Phil Collins, Mike Tyson was very good friends with both 2Pac and Biggie. But Mike Tyson also idolizes Barbra Streisand and Judy Garland. Mike Tyson is a very deep person. He is no idiot either. Read his book. Don't judge him by his past.
- My idol, Sade, listens to Raekwon from Wu-Tang Clan.
- Jada Pinkett Smith, Mrs. Will Smith, has her own band and loves heavy metal. Yup, me too. I listen to Judas Priest and Iron Maiden to keep me relaxed like classical music since the guitar solo is the star of the song. Jada was also childhood friends with 2Pac.
- Lady Gaga is actually very talented.
The best music artists to me write their own music. She writes music, plays piano, and great vocals. Listen to her on Howard Stern. She's very bright. I enjoy seeing her win Grammys with Tony Bennett. Wish for more Stefani, less Gaga. But that persona sells better for her.
I enjoy looking at celebrity music playlist. Gives me an idea of their taste. Kanye surprised me when he listed Coldplay. Not just the typical black artists. I love it when black people enjoy white artists and vice versa. I once knew a black guy who dresses like Ja Rule but listens to Soundgarden. We both sang along to "Fell On Black Days" and Audioslave's "Like A Stone."
Don't judge a book by its cover. Open the mind. I listen to any genre from Astrud Gilberto to Slayer. Expand your horizons. Don't be myopic like Apple. I see alot of ignorance on here just because of their limited range. Try new things. Make different friends. Travel. Never stop learning and then share that knowledge...
Kanye is ET. His mind is way out there like Frances Farmer (actress/Nirvana song reference). Kinda schizo.
Only song I ever liked from Katy Perry thanks to Kanye....
Michael Jackson's influence on Kobe Bryant -
"Keep doing what you're doing," Jackson implores him. "Don't come back to the pack and be normal for the sake of blending in with others. Don't dumb it down."
"He told me, 'This is what you love. This is your obsession,'" Bryant recalls. "He said, 'I know what it's like to be different. Embrace it.'"
Bryant has never heard of Grace Kelly, Fred Astaire or Ginger Rogers, but during a private film showing of their work, Michael explains how they were the inspiration for Jackson's 1988 "Smooth Criminal" music video and describes the lineage of his music, breaking down songs note by note, taking Bryant through the process of recording "Billie Jean." Jackson tells Kobe that he is transfixed by the success of the Beatles, that he initiated friendships with Paul McCartney and Yoko Ono just to learn more. Your curiosity is your greatest gift, Jackson says.
Use it to expand your scope. Ordinary people won't understand your insatiable thirst for excellence. They won't bother to keep striving because it's too onerous, too difficult.

"You've got to study all the greats," Jackson tells Kobe. "You've got to learn what made them successful and what made them unsuccessful."
"Michael Jackson was probably the biggest mentor I've ever had," Bryant says. "That phone call in Gold's Gym literally changed my life." The man Kobe dubbed the "greatest influence of my life" is gone. Yet Jackson's bizarre and troubling behavior in his final years -- he was a shadow of the savant who had summoned him to his ranch more than a decade before -- does nothing to change Bryant's opinion of him.
"He wasn't normal," Kobe says. "Most geniuses aren't."
Can't we all just get along? They do.
