Good point. Although IMO going from a 4" Form Factor to 5" could be a deal breaker for the SE users. They tend to be extremely focused on the 4" Form. The SE still sells in huge volume and is a Cash Cow for Apple. We also see the demand for the 4.7' 8 not developing. Is it from people wanting bigger phones, or not upgrading? It's a tough call for Timmy. :apple:
I feel like that’s the reason we aren’t seeing a smaller iPhone. SE users are less inclined to have the “best”. Apple can keep mooching off them for another year while they release a more popular “Plus” model. Once the big boys are out of the way, Apple will release a smaller version of the X to satisfy the SE users. There is a chance they upgrade the internals of the SE between now and then.

A LOT of people will choose the LCD version just because of price alone. I like OLED but in all honesty, there was nothing wrong with Apple's LCD panels. They still look good to me. My iPad Pro still looks amazing without OLED. I guarantee you won't get dual camera on the LCD one. Apple isn't stupid.
Problem is if this is Apple's line-up next year there is no new LCD phones to buy.

What I'd really like is an iPhone SE X (may need to rethink the name)--an edge-to-edge design in a smaller iPhone SE form factor.

That would be nice, but it seems we can only hope for internal updates on the current SE model. I am still using the iPhone 6 (acquired 3 years ago) and I have never liked the fact that it's a much larger phone than I ever had before. But I did not "upgrade" to the SE when it first came out. Now the SE will be 2 years old in Spring 2018, so I am hoping they will at least update the chip inside of it and then I'll upgrade from the 6 to the SE.

Correct. The bezels can't be as small as they are in that render for an LCD. So the 6.1 inch phone must have larger bezels, or KGI is just wrong.

Sorry you’re the one that’s wrong.

See Xiaomi Mi Mix. It’s TFT LCD and bezels are thinner than iPhone X.

Hopefully the new larger size won't mean more production issues and we'll have greater supply at launch next year. I hit the Nov 3 date but I saw a lot of people ordering in the first hour had significant waits.
Assuming this to be true, how much lead time to you think Apple needs? If 1 yr isn't enough, maybe someone should get FIRED!

LCD can be as slim bezel as OLED.

Xiaomi Mi Mix for example uses TFT LCD and has a thinner bezel than iPhone X.

Not on the lower chin where the display control board lies.
iPhone X oled U-bends upward to achieve chinlessness.
LCD can’t do that.

It makes no sense because the shift is towards large displays, for the entire industry.

Only diehard SE users think it makes sense.

I understand the shift to larger displays and that transition has been growing for years.

However, you're not correct to say "Only diehard SE users think it makes sense." I did own the SE at one point and in doing so, I realized you don't care about having the latest technology in the SE, you care about the form factor And the comfortability when holding it and carrying it. You don't have to be a "diehard" SE owner to know and appreciate the 4 inch form factor.

Any SE user knows they receive the essentials with Touch ID and a strong battery in a well made iPhone, and that's all that most ask for in the SE, regardless if it's updated in 2018 or not.

I’m genuinely excited for next years model. The ‘gen 1’ X will have its issues worked out and improvements made. Natural upgrade cycle for me next year...but the X and the 8 plus very tempting.

Sorry, I'm not wrong. See that big ass bezel on the bottom of the Xiaomi? Yeah, that's because phone LCDs require at least one large bezel on one side for the backlighting components.

The X isn’t really that much bigger than the 7, by my calculations, it has 10% more surface area versus the 7, just 3mm wider and 5mm taller. It is thicker and heavier, but I’m curious how noticeable that is.

Like others have said, I’d really like to see them do this with the SE chassis. I’d use an SE myself if my eyes could handle the smaller fonts.

That would be interesting.

And, by the way, I just have to say "Shaka, when the walls fell!"

I'll be all over the 6.1" phone next year if the only difference between it and the AMOLED models is the screen. I've got a feeling something will be crippled in hardware though. Approximately $300 less than the iPhone X with a 0.3" bigger screen is a huge difference. My guess is we'll see a much slower processor, a lower quality camera module, and significantly less storage.

Tell that to the number of people that are buying the 8 Plus. They are just responding to the market's needs.

So wrong. They are making features exclusive for the larger phone (dual lens) that force people to buy the larger (ie more expensive) model. I know plenty of people who buy the Plus only for the dual lens wishing they could get it in a smaller package.
