When Apple announced earnings for Q4 their estimate for Q1 was on the high side. We’ll never know if there really were issues that Apple was able to resolve or if all this chatter and noise was garbage. Don Melton (who used to run the Safari team at Apple) was recently on a podcast with Rene Ritchie. He said all these stories of last minute changes with the X were horse manure and this stuff was locked down a long time ago. I don’t think 2017 will go down as a banner year for the rumor mill (not counting the firmware leaks).
Interesting. What were those rumoured last minute changes?

I dare you to show this to Christopher Nolan :D

mmm... I found video to be much, much better this way than letterboxed (which, by the way, is the default mode).

only a vocal minority on tech forums complain about the "notch", and much of this is very likely seeded by competitors. In my real life experience, nobody ever noticed the "notch". Not one single person, and many, many people approached me to take a look at the phone.

What a rat race... When you step outside of it for just a moment, it seems so ridiculous that we’re talking about pushing a bunch a components together at an ever-increasing rate just to have that made obsolete, which starts the cycle over again. Meanwhile, yes, some people are working ridiculous hours to make it possible. Man, life is so weird - or at least the version we’ve made for ourselves.
Which is the reason I can stay with iPhone 6S.
Everything since has basically become overhyped marketing (with a lot of hidden UI/UX nightmare)

Then hopefully for you, they grow it to accomodate even more stealthy tech

Lol, “we, here at MacRumors, have got our hands on his most recent investor note” means “public update from Ming” to you?
You know he doesn’t post this stuff on his Twitter feed, yeah?

Moving the goal posts . We get weekly Ming stories ... barking up the wrong tree...

Ming has his hand up his own ass and is wrong or right as much as a coin toss.
But if you follow him closely, he seems to ventilate anything that mobilizes the herds' buying eagerness.
Before launch: stating that supply is tight to get people into preordering mood
After launch: comforting the masses about supply levels (especially where supplies have been ridiculous like in hongKong)
It is always the same combination of selectively filtered truth and obfuscation of the negative

If this trend of rapid catch up on stock continues, I wonder if folks will forgo the pre-orders going forward.

I would like to see this kind of production catch up for all Apple products in the future. That way, Apple can let their products talk at launch rather than the brass.

Because the avge joe doesn't get it that Ming is Apple's ventriloquist that quacks out everything that may get more credibility than from Tim himself.

Do you think it strange that a company as secretive as Apple.... in the last 10 so years has not found the source of these leaks to him??? Strange ....

Only for certain people.

No. Leaks abound galore in this world.

Ming seems pretty late with the next scoop to be expected:
Research company X designates The Notch as the most recognized brand symbol in smartphone history (after querying a randomly selected panel of Notch fans...)

Sure. The problem with random leaks is finding a place to start investigating.... in this case....has apple ever tried to shut him down ? Cause Steve was such a rational person .... like the iPhone 4 incident ...

If they’re not going to rename this site KGIrumors.com, we should at least have a dedicated Ming Chi Kuo section.

I think he should become an editor... :)

Alright I figured I’d start seeing the X more over Thanksgiving events and during Black Friday shopping but I still have yet to notice one in the wild. Maybe all the people that spent $1k+ on a phone have exceeded their holiday budgets already or are so fabulously wealthy that they don’t bother with “sale” prices.

I bet it's a mixture of both, but what do I know. What I DO know is I caved and ordered a silver X, and instead of the 12/11-12/18 shipping time, it actually shipped YESTERDAY for delivery Monday, and this through AT&T yet. I am amazed TBH.

One of those notch fans would be me.

We don't know what apple tried to do or did do in the past. So let's be careful about making stuff up and/or assuming.

I find it amazing that some people are actually cheering for Apple to sell and really succed with their projected sales for this device. The iPhone X is a cool device. The price has become really nuts, the first real iPhone update in years and the just rehash once again the 2014 models to have an excuse to sell the real update at 1,000 dollars. And people are fine with it! I for one I am voting with my wallet and for the same time since 2007 I am not getting my yearly iPhone update. Hoped always would as well so Apple would get the message they cannot get away with everything. Unfortunately, seems it won’t happen.

Yes we do . I referred to the iPhone 4 incident , it's well documented .

And apples secrecy is a fact - with plenty of factual examples of employees getting fired who slipped up .

Owwww and this is a "rumours" site.... thanks for policing facts ;)
