the thing is, NFC is something I never use as well... but I think that if there is one company who can redefine NFC for the average consumer, it is Apple!

For the 4S users- is NFC enough to make you want to upgrade?

I guess it depends on your area. Where I live the infrastructure for NFC is virtually nonexistent.

It won't have the a5x chip. That chip is way to big size wise and it just an a5 with added graphics power to push the crazy resolution of the iPad. It would be a waste of power and space in a phone. Who knows what CPU we will see though. I could almost see it just being the a5 again.

the thing is, I don't really care if the new iPhone gets a quadcore (?) or dual core (A5/A5x) CPU for example, specs dont matter! it all comes down to real world performance.

For the same software (iOS), spec. will determine the performance, so it matters.

Agreed, apart from A5X chip, but these things are already exisits in android for quite some time, even though they can still push iphone to top because it addresses some of the previous iphones' weaknesses.

Maybe on 3g? Ain't gonna happen with 4g/LTE on. You are going to see a ton of posts on here about terrible battery life within a day of release. Just watch. :D with my S3, I can get 3.5 to 4 hours of actual onscreen time. This is used to the max straight through. You won't see that with the iphone on a tiny little battery, especially if they are using the IPS display still.

My previous S3 lasted from 9 to 5 on a 2100 mAh battery. I cannot imagine an LTE phone with a 1430 mAh battery.

They'll be using IGZO. But yea, we'll get 6 hours LTE browsing. Basically the same stats as we have now. But with LTE. So it would actually be an upgrade.

Was IGZO confirmed somewhere? That would make a difference, but I don't see a 1430mA battery lasting anywhere near 6 hours on LTE. I will be extremely surprised if it does.

The iPhone has been and will always be a small flat box with a screen that runs iOS. iOS is what it's all about - and we know what's coming in iOS 6.

Having unrealistic expectations about the device itself will just end in disappointment.

NFC would be great if working around the globe. I use it every day in Japan for commuting. I could pay in a taxi, at a vending machine and many more occasions. Actually something traditional domestic phone can do since years.
Replace the card with the iPhone would be convenient for me as I would have one object less to handle and care about.

And a world LTE would be nice; really working everywhere.

Ah, and a ban of simlock would be a miracle but will remain a dream.

So quad-core A6 chip?

If A5X isn't for the iPhone and Apple (as far as I know) won't have the same A5 chip because they havent done that it.

Redefine NFC? LOL. People talk as if NFC is something new. NFC is old news now.

No, it's been used around the world for many years now. Here in Asia, it's extremely popular. People use it for everything: bus rides, food, etc.

Remember folks, America is not the center of the world.

Lol you cant patent NFC...its a standard just like 3G.

Maybe the way NFC works in a device or a certain feature.

Nope. Google used it first, and patented it. If Apple uses it, Google will sue Apple. I doubt Apple will mess with a gigantic company like Google. Google can wipe Apple out with one lawsuit alone.

I thought apple was a bigger company then google

If you didn't get my first post, you can't patent NFC.

You can patent ways that NFC works on a phone for example not NFC itself.

Maybe for other phones , apple usually a few years ahead when they tried. It's possible for apple to have it on the 5.

I find that some features on new iPhones in the past have already been on other phones for years.

I would love to see tactile feel on any phone screen. I saw the video from the Tactus company. It is something I would be really interested in. Other manufacturers have some phone models with physical keyboards. The iPhone will not have a model with a physical keyboard. For people like me who really want a physical keyboard, I think this is a way to get those people to consider an iPhone.
