Physical keyboard is a wanted option

I find that some features on new iPhones in the past have already been on other phones for years.

I would love to see tactile feel on any phone screen. I saw the video from the Tactus company. It is something I would be really interested in. Other manufacturers have some phone models with physical keyboards. The iPhone will not have a model with a physical keyboard. For people like me who really want a physical keyboard, I think this is a way to get those people to consider an iPhone.

Also I would like (really prefer) a physical keyboard built in the phone, not as a BT accessory. But realistically I don't think Apple will manufacture such an optional model. However, they will perhaps design a model which can make use of a more integrated hardware keyboard in a simple way, and in a way that makes it (iPhone with an "attacted" keyboard and a "stand" mechanism which makes the angle right) very quickly usable in a daily situation in a hurry.

I think this isn't very likely, so say the least, but I think the need is pretty big for such a device or something like it that gives us such a possibility; many professionals prefer to have a optional integrated hardward keyboard in addition to the virtual one on the touch screen. And also to have a natural good angle between the keyboard and the screen - that is, merely a "sliding mechanism" will not meet this need.

Redefine NFC? LOL. People talk as if NFC is something new. NFC is old news now.

No, it's been used around the world for many years now. Here in Asia, it's extremely popular. People use it for everything: bus rides, food, etc.

Remember folks, America is not the center of the world.

Well, thats the whole point... Just like in 2007, you could use internet on your phone, but it was not really usable and a good experience. The iPhone redefined the internet on phones! It was not something new, but improved it so much that a few years later, nobody can think of how it used to suck.

This bring me back to NFC. It is already implemented by some android phones, but here (I am from the Netherlands, Europe) I have never seen somebody use it, while it could be very useful. Thats why I think Apple could have the capability to redefine NFC, and make it usefull to the average consumer.

Nope. Google used it first, and patented it. If Apple uses it, Google will sue Apple. I doubt Apple will mess with a gigantic company like Google. Google can wipe Apple out with one lawsuit alone.

Really? NFC goes back as far as 1983. Current standard was made by NFC forum (Nokia, Philips, Sony) in 2004.

Also Apple is currently almost 3x bigger than Google by market cap (582B vs 209B).

I didn't even know NFC was already this old, I think it is about time to find a good (new) use for it!

It won't be a hardware feature-- that would leak out.

It is SIRI 2.

Expect a huge upgrade in functionality in Siri-
This is easy for Apple to keep under wraps, and Apple has had a long time to work on Siri.

Announced with ios 6. So this isn't the new feature this thread is looking for

Why does there have to be a killer feature?

A redesign with a larger screen and iOS tweaks seems like a sufficiently meaningful update to me.

I hope they have more than LTE and NFC.

Whilst I still plan on upgrading to the 5, if nothing else is released, I may have to swerve it.

It's an expensive phone and an expensive ecosystem that I can almost recreate on (hopefully) the brand new Nexus.

I say this because, in the UK at least, LTE isn't up and running and won't be for up to 3 years, and that's just in cities! The same goes for NFC. It is very rarely used in the UK at the moment. My father is an NFC engineer working on stuff for different parts of the UK, and progress is slow. Companies don't want to adapt their technology, or delegate a certain portion of their business to only a select number of customers.

We've seen some credit cards using technology like NFC, but it's still a way away from being wide-spread here. I suppose support in the form of Apple backing NFC may completely change attitudes, but that will take time.

Sure, better cameras are great and all, but I'm quite content with the very HQ ones on my 4S now. HD Facetime is something that just wouldn't see much use; especially if networks decide to cap its' usage/it takes up vast amounts of data.

No - I hope that Apple pulls their finger out of their arse and creates something unique in a software (or indeed hardware (more limited)) field for the iP5. True multitasking or customisation (weather/interactive lockscreen, ability to widgetise the Notification centre (how many casual users check the stocks in NC?) etc etc.) would be nice.

And I pray to God they actually provide us with better internal speakers. Supporting VoiceHD wouldn't hurt either.

iOS6 keynote barely scratched the surface of what Siri 2 will do.
Easy to keep hidden since Siri doesn't exist on iOS beta software-- it all lives at Apple HQ since every command has to be sent to apple and back to the iPhone.

Watch-- Apple has not much new with the new iPhone 5 outside of a larger screen and barely changed shell. NFS payment system won't be coming for a while. All Apple will be able to promote as "new" and "unleaked" will be new Siri features.

I guarantee you they won't reveal anymore about Siri than what has already been made known. I agree there won't be any NFC this year either. LTE, 4-inch screen, new design are the major points for the new iPhone.

If Siri would be as useful in Europe as it is in America, it could be a killer feature for us over here... But you Americans already have a very good experience with Siri so for the American market it would barely be a killer feature I guess

Because the SG3 has incorporated a larger screen, NFC, and LTE way ahead of Apple which always seems to lag behind in many areas. Adding .5" to the length of the screen and keeping the width the same is unacceptable.
I've had every iphone every built, but a small screen is just not appropriate, given the competition currently.

Killer Feature ... The fact that its Unibody is something that few actualy think of a killer feature but it is .. A Unibody iPhone is actualy a big deal ..

btw - > https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/1422872/

But to stay on topic .

Killer Feature Design Wise :
- Unibody
- Gorilla Glass 2
- Mag Safe
- Thinner

Killer Feature Tech Wise :
- 4G LTE World Phone !!!
- 9X Graphic Performance
- AirDrop !!!
- Bigger Screen 4 inch (16:9)
- 12 MP iSight Camera (Actualy 10 MP because of antishake/shutter feature that reduces MP in favor for improved antishake/shutter)
- 60 fps (slow motion capture video)
- 2 MP FaceTime Camera
- 802.11n 5Ghz

I do hope Apple has learned from its "mistakes" regarding the 4G that only works in America. Here in Holland the 4G networks are slowly being introduced, but if I buy a phone for the next 2 years which doesn't work with these networks it could make me consider buying another phone :S

some of the below sounds erasonably plausible... not sure about slow motion video capture...

would love airdrop though... :D

For me, everything will be a killer feature - as I'm using a iPhone 3gs, and my contract is due to expire in a couple of months.

At the current time of release for the Retina iPad there where no Multi Mode / World Wide 4G LTE Chip avaible .. but there are now ...

The Omivision OV12830 will do the trick

Probably something to do with the new "Bluetooth Sharing" feature.

I'd love to see Apple develop a roaming ad-hoc social network based on those in close proximity (via Blutooth). Imagine how handy this would be when cruising for chics in bars =P

Says q4 for volume... Are they referring to their fiscal q4 or yearly q4?

That wouldn't be until October then right? :(

I desperately would love this chip but I'm doubtful...

Didn't Apple have early access to Intels Sandy Bridge processors before any other company got their hands on? Maybe they are doing this again, but with these chips ;)
