I'm wondering - if the entry price for a new model goes up, will ASPs of used ones similarly increase? That *could* blunt some of the increase, if trade-in values from Apple and third parties increase.

This wouldn't be so bad if they increase storage. If they don't increase storage, then I might just get off the iPhone Upgrade Program train. Sure I would keep paying another year for my 13 Pro, but my payment wouldn't increase. So many expenses this year, and inflation is out of control.

People should definitely pay higher prices since the iPhone 14 Pro models will have the cutting edge technology of USB 2.0 transfer speeds.

True, but, honestly, isn't that kind of his job....increasing profitability and ROI for shareholders?....along with trying to keep customers happy and coming back.
It sure is but he can also think about lowering the costs down. But I think Tim Cook manages to balance everything out and tries his best to keep the customers happy. It's just sometimes it feels like he likes too much of our own money.

i agree with you here...now we have hardware codec and large 4k, soon 8k files and Apple want to transfer those files in usb 2 speeds?!
Here its really embarrassing, this should not be sarcasm just not to upset some apple fans

So there's no more iPhone at a smaller screen size (nor cheaper price) anymore? If so, that really bites. You'd think they'd want to keep more entry level pricing to increase their user base to get more subs to their services.

The iPhone SE will remain in the lineup, plus you'll likely still be able to buy a new iPhone 13 mini (at a reduced price?) for a year or two after the 14 line launches.

with this inflation in 15 years the iphone pro will start from $9999
I was thinking about the same. Just couldn't do the math. It's crazy how iPhone was only $499 in 2007.

Looking at refurbished store, used market or carrier deals. You can also get iPhone 12 mini for lot cheaper
I currently a 12 mini, plan on getting a new 13 mini since it seems it will be the last mini for a while. But was waiting on a price cut. I saw that Costco is currently selling some of the 12s and 13s at good discounts unlocked with AC, but not the 13 mini.

The concept of inflation sparks many interesting conversations.....when I was a kid, my mother always complained...."this is terrible, when I was your age, milk was only .05 a quart and bread was .03" yeah okay ma, but you were only earring $30.00 per week.

But when inflation goes back down, do you think the price of the devices will go back down? Nope. Its greed on Apples part.
Apple has never been producing affordable products. they have always been aiming at the premium market. Look at how expensive the Newton devices were in the 90’s, a 900 dollar pda. That’s almost $1600 in today’s money.

They keep adding more and more tech into it though.
"iPhone" starts at $429 (SE) if you don't need the latest and greatest and you can do everything you need with it. Everything else is just luxury.

Considering that Apple is removing the iPhone mini, a 15% increase price for the regular iPhone 14 will be a steep increase of the lineup starting price

Apple has never been a charity, but this price rise will hurt
If this price change rumour is true, I guarantee you apple didn’t make this decision in a vacuum without careful consideration and modelling. They already know with a high degree of accuracy what this price change will do to their bottom line, and if it wasn’t in their best interests that wouldn’t go near it.
