Isn’t it pick up only, no shipping? I thought there was a fitting process that required an Apple Store.
No fitting process. And you can pre-order online. I don't think anyone has confirmed the second foam insert is even a different size. I think its a spare when your first one get gross or your want a guest to try it. VisionOS does prominently feature a guest mode (a first of the non Mac OS devices)

thanks to all you who have too much money that can drop that amount of cash on a beta project so apple can justify additional R&D (not that they're strapped for cash) to make it lighter, better and hopefully less expensive over time.

The HomePod is a failure in Apples eyes.. It's being ignored which usually means Apple doesn't care about the category. They only sold Apple TV to get their app on peoples TVs.. What they really want to sell is subscriptions to TV and music.. Not accessories. The headphones are a scam to get you into their ecosystem. Yes they are alright. But Apple really wants to collect $10 or more on a monthly from you.
The HomePod is being ignored? They just updated it last year… i have multiple minis and a full size and love the whole home audio aspect of it.

Full size was discontinued. Beats makes one.. Apple does a little update here and there. But they definitely could care less other than you will subscribe to something that gets them a cut. It's that kind of product. Otherwise we'd still have the big HomePod right?

We do have the big HomePod again. It probably doesn’t sell much at all, but it is back.

Oh that’s good to know. I was wondering how ya let others try it

The problem with pre-ordering on Jan 19, is very very few people will have actually worn and tried out the device. People who do place pre-orders will be buying based on the pre-launch video and what influencers have said. I for one, want to at least see for myself what it's like before buying.

Taylor Swift is probably going to go down as the next Bob Dylan.. Wait until her later years. She's gunna stay solid, most likely, for a long time.
This is the hottest take I have seen on the internet. It's off topic but I am triggered. Taylor Swift is a business and entertaining genius but in writing, singing, look, she is slightly above average. BOB DYALN?!! Her songs are pop nonsense of no particular enduring artistic value - and I even like Swift and listen to some of her music.

80K units @ $3,500 USD each = $280M.
400K units @ 3,500 USD each = $1.4B.
Something tells me it's still going to sell fast.
I'm still wondering how much it cost to produce.
Those figures are the minimum. Higher configs will cost more resulting in higher gross revenue for apple.

I think it's safe to assume apple's gross margin for the AVP is at least 25%, though typically I think its gross margin is around 38%-40% if I'm not mistaken. Obviously just guessing on the AVP part.

I am amazed at how people saying they are going to get one are attacked as rich. They are paupers...we now have dozens of people planning to buy 2 just for some extra cash. Now thats real money right there.

In many large cities $3500 is one months rent lol.. It's really not a whole lot of money. My car was $40,000... My house is $250,000... My college education was $100,000.

Pop Quiz, Jim Bob:

Person 1: buys a Vision Pro @ $3500
Person 2: buys 2 Vision Pros @ $3500 each , sells 1 for $7000

Who has more money in the end?

Selling out the initial run and having long delays for shipments is an intentional feature of the initial hype cycle.

Precisely. It creates hype and gets people talking as it appears to be in demand. It also creates FOMO and inevitably increases sales overall.

Probably still Person 1, because they have enough not to play silly games like reselling for profit.

I use eBay a lot, and the seller fees plus shipping cut into a lot of the profit. A realistic selling price for a sold out Vision Pro might be $4500, of which eBay takes a $600+ cut, not including $50 shipping and materials, even if you bought without tax you’re only getting $350 in profit. If it sells for $4000, you’re losing money.

But even for $350, that’s about 5 hours total work PLUS risk. Not worth it in my opinion.
