I felt disappointed with my first Mac and later with my first iPad.What I wonder is are there people out there who purchased an Apple Product for over $1,000 and then was disappointed with the purchase?
I know that while the "hype" of a product sometimes has worn off for me, what I am left with is still a very functional thing that provides its intended use. For example, I have never felt disappointed with a desktop or laptop purchase from Apple, even after the hype of the "new thing" wore off. Never happened with me and an iPad even. Do I always "get out of them" as much as my initial hope? Not always. However, I am not disappointed in the product itself as it always meets expectations. Not always true with the cheaper items (I am looking at you AirPods with Handoff)
I just can't imagine people who have the money to get the Vision Pro will end up regretting it or being disappointed. They may eventually determine they won't purchase it again because they can't justify the cost like they initially thought they would. But to me that is adjusting personal use expectations and not a product fault where it didn't deliver on a promise.
Am I being too biased here?
The folks on Windows Weekly estimated this has been a 6-10 year stroll at $5-10 B per year...there is no payout in the foreseeable future, but that's the luxury of having more cash than most countries...At $3,500 each, that's $280M at launch.
I wonder (R&D, staffing, and other costs aside): what does it costs Apple to manufacture one Vision Pro? What's their markup?
No, resellers are scum
I have no interest in this product. But I want to buy it so I can hopefully flip it on eBay for a lot more. Should I do it?
Assuming it’s true that they can only make 400,000 per year, it means they started mass production two months ago.I'm not quite sure what to make of this 80,000 number.
That 400,000 number was ever only a rumor, right? And, assuming it was true at the time, that doesn't mean that Sony or Apple couldn't ramp up production through building new plants, etc. So, by 6 months into sales, that number may increase due to increased production capability.Assuming it’s true that they can only make 400,000 per year, it means they started mass production two months ago.
And this is a weird one economically. It has almost killed the PS5 to be supply constrained. I stopped looking for a PS5 for 2 years. I bet no one at Sony was grateful for hype instead of sales. It's funny how many people need to inject some kind of (in their view) nefarious conspiratorial drama into whatever Apple does.
It's not a "manufactured sellout" the issue is that they literally can't make more.Did you read the article that it’s a manufactured sellout? How is that a hit?
I am. Can't wait. The fact that you have no interest in it is of no value to me.Who is actually buying this?
I have no interest.

I agree. Our family has a lot of extra spending money, and we won't buy this. We're spending it on a Disneyland vacation in February, and a Paris vacation in the summer during the Olympics. To be fair, money spent on memories is better spent. The child will grow up and always remember that concert, but the AVP is going to be an outdated piece of tech in a few years.
Just looked that up, it has an interesting flip-up design:I don't know. Sony presented their own AR headset three days ago with similar displays, so maybe they upped production?

No, the first buyer will order 80,000 units and auction them all on Ebay.I wonder if Apple will put a limit on the number you can buy? That would cut down on resellers.
Well...this sort of proves my point. "Expensive" is a calculation of value, and different people value things differently. I'd rather buy the AVP then even go to the concert of my favorite artist, if it cost me $1800. I'd wait for the live 3D version that cost me $49 in the AVP. But in a country where millions of people spend that kind of money on concerts, where the average new car sells for $48k, the AVP is only expensive if you don't value it.To be fair, money spent on memories is better spent. The child will grow up and always remember that concert, but the AVP is going to be an outdated piece of tech in a few years.
lot of rich people, are you sure, just because its expensive means that all rich people wanna one 🤣Lot of rich people... sports stars, celebrities, influencers. I bet only a fraction of those buying this would be true professionals using this for bespoke workflows. And in many cases there are other systems for that.

As someone wanting to snag a headset for personal use, it’s annoying to see how many people on this thread are trying to buy and resell. I have a hard time paying 3500, if you think people are gonna pay 8k on resell, good luck on that lol
I will wait a bit for the future…I'll be one of them, hands down. Can't wait...The future is ALMOST here.
