Yes, it's called "army green". That's obviously what they were going for. It's a very popular color right now. I'm not into it either, but evidently a lot are.

It was referred to as 'OD green' (OD for olive drab) when I was in the service. Functional for masking green egg poop stains from field exercises but not an ideal color outside of military.

They're not even selling out at all.
If their supply chain is working as efficiently as possible they would never sell out nor have excess inventory.

They have had production issues on a larger scale in the last few years so sell outs were due to supply constriction. But they never wanted to sell out. Not selling out is indicative of nothing on its own.

I mean what else is enticing about this phone? The body feel and design is now on its 3rd year, while the general design goes back a further 3 years to the iPhone 6. It's been pretty drab as far as aesthetics, there's been nothing really fresh at all about these things aside from when they changed the screen size with the X/XS and polished it a bit. It's a good looking phone no doubt but god has it been boring for me lately. You know you're gonna get the same bar of soap but with some better internals every year now, so yes a new scent is honestly a pretty nice incentive. iPhone next year will be the big thing however, thankfully gone with all the extra names and with a very sleek body change.
Since I use my phone and not just mindlessly stare at it I am good with constantly improving internals that are best of class every year.

I know people prioritize phone looks over function (ie color, design, camera bump) but I will never really understand it. For me the power and usability of the device is like 98% of what is important and what it looks like 2%.

I got the green max. It is not all that awesome looking on it's own but... In a brown leather case. I love that combo. Maybe the first time I think the phone will look better with a case.
[doublepost=1568649206][/doublepost]The most insane part of that article to me is the 1.5 months salary being a "sweet spot". I cannot wrap my head around spending that large of a percentage of my income on a phone... ever. I lived in Taipei for a year and ended up buying a android phone as a throw away, if I recall it was like $100 new and the phone service in Taipei is so cheap that it cost me way more to keep my phone number in the states on the cheapest non-smart phone plan I could find.

I just dont see how someone in that position would be buying an 11.

Color... a deciding factor on spending 1000$. World goes to **** ;)

More like - people already decided to buy this particular phone model and just choosing, what colour they would like this phone to come. Not like- ooo, I didn't need a new phone, but now, that i'm seeing this colour, i'm getting a new one asap.
Really not understanding this tho, my iPhone X is in silver (yuck), but I see it maybe 2x a year, because it is in black (nice) case.

People buy iPhone 11 because of COLOR?

Welcome to 2019 everybody.
Uh-oh! The pre-ordained narrative is in peril! This was supposed to be the most boring iPhone ever and would not sell because everyone is so unimpressed and underwhelmed. But sheep are buying based on color!!! This is a travesty!!! Colorgate!

People upgrade for new hardware features they can immediately use. I traded in my XS for the non-pro 11 for the wide-angle camera and the CPU.
The 11 is going to sell well.

People make such a big deal about wanting a new design and nobody bats an eye. Why shouldn't color be an issue? We make fun of Ford's "Any color you want as long as it's black" campaign and cars come in many colors.

I am so sick of silver, gold, grey, and pink iPhones. I bought an Xr over an Xs because of price not for the color, but being able to get a blue iPhone was pretty nice.

Every time I see a marketing image of the iPhone 11 Pro — and it was the same with the XS — I think about Apple's design guidelines where they say "embrace the notch", "don't try to hide it".

That's actually to show of the OLED screen since it supports deep blacks, it blends will with a black wallpaper making it look like all screen.

50 bucks off the 11 compared to XR makes it go from 1.5-1.7 (XR) to 1-1.3 (11) times the monthly salary? How does that add up.
Because salaries go up yoy about 20% and factoring the discount and the pricing is even more aggressive in china. That’s why you end up with different Salary to price ratio

Kinda surprised at the plain 11 version being the most popular in china... thought they were all loaded considering they all make trips to the US, pay for hotels, spends hordes of money at outlet malls, wear only designer labels!? I guess maybe cuz they "save" money on the "cheaper" phone?

well - there is a billion+ people over there - I am sure there is a percentage that can I afford this

Agreed. He ain't no analyst. He's not analyzing anything. He should just really be called an insider or a spy.

Kuo is just good at their job and seem to be loving it. Their track record is not perfect but is certainly better than most in this area. What makes you or anyone believe their are an insider or spy, maybe just good analytical skills. Seriously what do people have against Kuo, do forum member of MR believe they can do better, then I would like to see some 2020 iPhone or even the next iPad Pro model predictions. Go on I am waiting and please none of the obvious stuff.

You are one of several people who took this away from an article where it doesn’t actually say that.

I took that posters comments as sarcasm, though I can see others may not. Personally if I was in the market for an iPhone 11, the purple and green do look decent. Midnight Green, meh maybe sage.

What’s stopping Apple Marketing to do the same on the XR and 11. It all depends on what screen one is viewing those marketing comparisons.

You know what we didn’t see this year (yet)? The analysts saying there are issues with producing “insert component here” and that production is constrained because Apple is having difficulty ramping up.

Damn! You're right. Perhaps Apple really is doomed this time. ;)

Although in fairness, Kuo did claim production issues with the green iPhone 11 Pro.

Or maybe spending ones income on a phone is not that important. Value for money the 11 has an advantage over the Pro. Plus it’s screen size fits in-between with no noticeable resolution difference to the majority.

Some bold assumptions from anecdotal experience.

I can't believe so many people are arguing over the colors.
Once you put a case on it you're not going to notice it much, if at all.
And if you don't like Midnight Green, which I don't care for either, well then you still have 3 others choices.
If you don't like those other choices then throw a skin on it or a case.
There are options people. :)
Buy the one that best suits you and then ... move on..... lol

I wonder how many of the people complaining about the colors aren't even intending on buying one, Pro or non Pro. SMH.

I won't be buying one, not because of the color choice, but because the 256GB iPhone Pro is $2000 Aussie dollars! Yikes! Maybe if I win this weeks Powerball Lottery..... hmmm, better get my ticket it in. Got my eye on that silver iPhone 11 Pro. ;)

We all know since 2017 that new iPhones have a Notch so...

I'm with you - there's a lot of great capabilities - another bonus is increasing the angle for Face ID unlocks - can't wait to try that! (coming from an X)

The FaceID sounds like a small thing but it'll be a blessing to me. I'm an iOS dev and if I'm working on a phone app it'll be nice not to have to lean over to look at the phone each time I want to unlock it.
