It's ridiculous a few posters are so concerned about why some wants, needs or desires 1 TB model (if available).

If you have to ask the question, then you're not the target market for 1TB.
If you find you are not running out of space, you're not the target market for 1TB

Don't project your anecdotal experience.
No need to be jealous of the posters wanting more space.

If after all these years of smartphones you have plenty of space still available, maybe you should ask yourself do you really need storage/smart phone or will a dumb phone do.

Stick with whatever your need is and let the 1 TBers alone.

Absolute apple fan here, but if my iPhone X has 256gb.. it’s four years old now.. memory is so much cheaper now in 2021.. how Apple even sells a 64 or 128gb phone that now shoots 4k video with no memory card still perplexes me…
You said why right from the start "absolute Apple fan"

CSAM doesn’t invade anyone’s privacy, so there’s that.
If you're ok with them scanning your photos, Siri conversations and email for content I guess.

Next they'll scan for other content too. Maybe your music to make sure you're not downloading from somewhere else.

Then your documents for copyright materials.

Your opinion about this would be the exact opposite if Samsung was doing this instead of Apple.

They don’t scan any of those things, but sure.

And i criticize Apple all the time, so your last sentence is poorly-aimed.

Hmmmm this reduces differentiation between standard and Pro. I want more for my Pro money

For each use case obviously, but unless you do not believe in cloud storage i personally think 128 is fine for just about 99% of average consumers

That's what I'll never understand why someone would buy a pro for casual use — sites like FB, Twitter, Instagram all compress the hell out of photos and videos — they rarely look anything like the originals.

I'll even bump up saturation (sometimes very high) on photos before posting just to try to save the look of the original before it appears on Instagram or FB.

Twitter for videos is beyond ridiculous for compression - any video looks like it was shot with a flip phone from the mid 90s.
People want photos for more than social media, though it is a shame what those services do to photo and video quality. I personally care about decent quality photos of my kids 20+ years from now.

Also - fat chance shooting a video on a flip phone in the mid 90's.......

Apple could have added this option years ago. But they didn’t
The reason is simple if you’re going to pay$1600-$1800 for an iPhone you’re going to keep it longer and that’s not what  wants

A lot of money for very small incremental changes when you consider what most people actually do with their phone.

Can't imagine searching through 1TB of pics on a phone. ....scrolling scrolling scrolling. I know it's here somewhere. Lol

And as such, when they get released:

i.) Apple's Lowest-Gross Margin iPhone 13: 13 mini with 128 GB of NAND Flash Storage

ii.) Apple's Highest-Gross Margin iPhone 13: 13 Pro Max with 1 TB of NAND Flash Storage

I for one will be getting the 1TB capacity. Yes it will cost an arm and a leg, but my wife and I just got our first child and have been filming him almost every day. Esp at 4k. 256GB fills up fast (on both our phones).

I don't agree with that.

I think they know that for a certain % of their customers, Money & Value (considerations) simply does NOT matter.

The % is small, probably just 1% OR so of those who buy new iPhones every year, but ...

why NOT tap into it ?

And get the Gross Margin benefit in the process !

That's what I think they decided.
