We sure are. But not because of prices, but because Apple dropped physical SIM support for us. This reminds me of years ago when it was impossible to buy an unlocked iPhone in the US.Anyhow even the Americans get screwed by Apple.

The Apple Watch is the iPhone Nano.I bought a mini and I like it but let’s not pretend the mini is a small phone. It’s a normal size for in a world of huge phones. Give me an iPhone Nano any day of the week. Remember when miniaturizing technology was the height of design?
Where were you visiting from?Funny, I just came back from a three week trip across Norway:
10 euros for a lager (minimum), 6 or more for a latte, no chance at eating out for less than 50 euros per person (no starters or dessert!), 18 for an (average) burrito and I ended up paying 50 euros per day for the mere privilege of parking my car in Oslo… streets filled with Taycans, eQC’s, fat e-Trons and other nice EV’s.
Made my purchase of a 14 Pro Max seem good value by comparison: only 10 days of parking, 150 beers after trade in or 100 burritos without ! 😂
It’s really striking in that context, Apple products are perceived ‘expensive’ knowing e.g. food and drink are at least three/four times as expensive as in most other EU countries.
While I believe all greed is bad, you seem to be confusing profit with greed. Profit is necessary. And as far as I know, Apple does compensate their employees fairly — do you have any evidence to the contrary? What are Apple’s margins, and how much revenue in pure profit did they record last quarter?
It is greed, nothing more. Companies have churned out record profits over the entire pandemic, record growth not seen in decades, but they’ll turn around and say they can’t afford living wages or humane benefits. It’s got to go.
It depends on which ones. The corporate employees are well taken care of. On the retail side, I think we have heard of some not-so-great experiences. Keep in mind that it is VERY hard to get employees to speak up about company practices because of all kinds of confidentiality agreements. While I believe all greed is bad, you seem to be confusing profit with greed. Yes they are called disgruntled employees. Every company has them. I can pick any major corporation and find someone that says they were treated badly as an employee. The problem is when you work for a company they pay you money but they expect you to work. Some people want the money but when they’re asked to do work they don’t want to do it because it’s not fun. Then they get fired or quit and become a “disgruntled employee”On the retail side, I think we have heard of some not-so-great experiences.
OK, I'm not an expert on any of this, but the disgruntled employee excuse belies what is going on with unionization efforts. But as I said, I don't know the whole story, so I'll refrain from further comment on this.Yes they are called disgruntled employees. Every company has them. The court dismissed Apple’s argument that bringing a bag to work was an employee convenience, particularly that Apple felt employees didn’t necessarily need to bring their iPhones to work.
“Its characterization of the iPhone as unnecessary for its own employees is directly at odds with its description of the iPhone as an ‘integrated and integral’ part of the lives of everyone else,” the judges wrote. In that statement, the court referenced a 2017 Tim Cook interview where he stated that the iPhone was “so so integrated and integral to our lives, you wouldn’t think about leaving home without it.”
My understanding is that retail employees on average are paid over $20/hour (US). Paid vacation, sick leave, parental leave, stock options, retirement benefits — seems more than generous to me.It depends on which ones. The corporate employees are well taken care of. hmm wonder why? in the Economy they still want to charge luxury prices? the Whole world's ability to pay such things are down. Think The Chinese market is able now as they are locked down, the employment is crashing, businesses are moving out? I really think the chinese people are a bit more desperate than before, So That market will not be was wide open as thought. Even Huawai is Severely cutting their business down. Apple should have trimmed their line up and offered more features. I bet in the next few months you'll see a eye opening realization that the market has changed and people aren't buying muc high end stuff anymore and will settle and wait till the economy turn better.
The iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus have seen "bad" pre-order results, indicating that Apple's positioning of the two new standard models may have failed, according to Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.
![]()
In his latest post on Medium, Kuo explained that the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max have seen "neutral" and "good" pre-order results compared to the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max. Delivery wait times of more than four weeks may indicate good demand for the new high-end devices. It is apparently "unclear" whether Apple will increase shipment forecasts of its Pro models, but there is a "growing" chance that it will cut orders of the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus, which currently account for around 45 percent of the entire lineup's shipments.
The iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus are expected to be in stock in retail stores on their launch dates, "reflecting lackluster demand." As it stands, Kuo says that the pre-order results for the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus are worse than those of the third-generation iPhone SE and the iPhone 13 mini. He noted that Apple cut orders of both the third-generation iPhone SE and the iPhone 13 mini in the first half of 2022 due to low demand.
If demand for the two standard models do not improve, Apple may cut iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus orders as soon as November. Suppliers who are not major beneficiaries of Apple's iPhone 14 Pro models will likely see the start of declining revenue in September and October as a result.
For iPhone 14 Plus, in particular, the "pre-order result is significantly lower than expected." As a model that effectively replaces the "mini" form factor in the latest iPhone lineup, with 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch display sizes now being the only options, Kuo said that "Apple's product segmentation strategy for standard models fails this year."
All four of the iPhone 14 models were announced by Apple last week and have been available to pre-order since September 9. The iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Pro, and iPhone 14 Pro Max are set to launch on Friday, September 16, and the iPhone 14 Plus will launch on Friday, October 7.

California is hardly the vanguard of morality. And this case has nothing to do with compensation. What you are referring to is a situation where Apple found it necessary to pay security services to verify that employees were not leaving with merchandise or trade secrets in their bags. The issue came down to whether the employee was “under the control” of Apple during the search process — this was a loophole that was exploited by the plaintiff. Did Apple catch anyone stealing? I’m sure they did, but we will never know. What they should do is fine those people big time to recoup the cost of this added security expense. The California Supreme Court seemed to think so.

Apple offers $30 million to settle off-the-clock bag search controversy | TechCrunch
California's supreme court ruled Apple broke the law by failing to pay employees while they waited for mandatory bag and iPhone searches. Now, Apple has offered to pay $30 million to settle the suit.techcrunch.com
EDIT: Some of Apple's arguments in that case were hilarious
California is hardly the vanguard of morality. And this case has nothing to do with compensation.
Employees launched the suit way back in 2013, saying they weren’t paid while being searched for stolen merchandise or trade secrets.
You don’t seem to understand what this is. The case had nothing to do with their compensation — salary/hourly wage, benefits, etc. It was a disagreement over whether or not the employees should be paid during the search process.Erm, yeah it is ..

The only problem Apple employees specifically those who work on campus is a first world problem. They don't want to use the 150 grand salary to commute to work everyday to the sprawling campus. Where they likely have many discounted amenities and perks. While I believe all greed is bad, you seem to be confusing profit with greed. Profit is necessary. Your 13 Pro Max is hopelessly outdated by Dynamic Island alone. Also the notch is ugly.Honestly not surprised by this. Buy a 13 Pro Max instead.
14 is the same as 13 Pro, but 14 Pro essentially invalidates all that comes before it.13 to the 14 is basically the same phone. Glad it’s failing.
