They did that back in the day with the 7 Plus and 8 Plus. They gave the better cameras to the Plus size and I hated it. I wanted the better cameras but I didn't want the obnoxiously large phone that I can't fit in my pocket. I don't understand how any man can walk around with the bigger phone size in their pocket, my 12 Pro is almost peaking out of the top of my pocket, I don't see how the Pro Max even fits in some jean pockets. And I don't even wear tight pants like skinny jeans, just regular old boot cut from freaking Old Navy! The 6.1" physical size is fine the way it is, I don't want to get the Max just to get all the Pro features.
Take your jeans to a tailor, they can increase your pocket size inexpensively. Your Pro or Pro Max will fit well sitting or standing.

Most people don't know the difference, only tech enthusiasts do.
SOC name is the same, even SOC has some improvements.
if people are expecting major improvements every year, people have to lower their expectations.
Apple and TSMC are close to hitting the limits on process design/manufacturing process.
Apple could probably improve processor performance & battery life by improving the whole phone design.

USB-C Thunderbolt will be enough for me to upgrade lol

How about dual front facing symmetrical speakers? I can't even see the sliver of the front speaker on the iPhone 14 Pro, it would be cool if they can have the grill on the bottom end as well.
Serious question:
you want USB C because
it is easier to charge ?
transfer lot (~200 GB) data to your system every day ?

The reason i ask is
i never connect my phone to my laptop/desktop.
i have so many lightning chargers and cables, i would have to just throw them in garbage now.

I currently have the 12 Pro Max, because of the slightly better camera. I'm now waiting for my new 14 Pro, and am very happy to be able to go back to the regular Pro. I would personally be unhappy if Apple really takes this route of making the Pro Max or Ultra better than the regular Pro.

That’s not what they are saying though. What this is saying is Apple will intentionally put less features on the Pro so people that wants the best have to go to the max.

I mean, there’s enough differentiation with the better and screen size. What else do you want? We are already paying $1,000 minimum.
Im saying glass of water is half full, youre saying glass of water is half empty. Same thing.

Wait unless, do you think Apple is going to intentionally downgrade the 15Pro compared to the 14Pro just so the 15Ultra is better?

Do you really imagine Apple coming with the 14Pro with its current set of features and then intentionally removing features on the 15Pro (that the 14Pro already had) just to make the 15Max/ultra better? How are they gonna sell a 15Pro thats actually worse than the 14Pro?

This is a terrible idea. The Max is not for everyone. Keep the Pro’s equal please!
this
i was pissed when 12 pro max got better camera than reguar as i simply cant stand the massive size when the thing is in the pocket
no bueno for some people, no matter the features

This line up would be great. All of them should have 120Hz ProMotion display except SE.

iPhone SE /5.7” (2 camera+A16)
iPhone 15 Mini /5.4” (2 camera+A17)
iPhone 15 /6.1” (3 camera+A17)
iPhone 15 Plus /6.4” (3 camera+A17)
iPhone 15 Ultra /6.7” (Periscope lens+8gb ram+A17)

I think most of us who opt for the Pro over the Pro Max do so because it’s easier to hold and fit in one’s pocket without weighing it down.

I always have two iPhones. Right now I have a 14 Pro and a 12 Pro Max. I’ve also previously owned the XS Max. I almost always reach for the smaller non-Max device.

I already have problems fitting a Pro sized iPhone into a ski jacket, a Pro Max will not fit and would be both bulky and unsafe to carry in this and other sports - yet a better telescopic lens is highly desirable in these applications. Same goes for running, I have a fanny pack that holds water bottles, can just barely squeeze my pro into the pocket in the back.

Sailing, biking, hiking, backpacking, kayaking, skiing, running...

I DREAMT of a mini. They released one. I was so excited. Had to upgrade 6 months later because the battery life wasn’t adequate. I was running out by 5-6 pm every day. And I’ve never once (ever) complained of battery. Not do I consider myself a power user. Really said I had to ditch the form factor for battery.

as a side note I was at 89% battery health which they said was completely normal after running diagnostics remotely despite it only being 6 months old. :(
It funny because the mini had more battery reserve than any of the earlier phones like the 6,7,8 that we lived with for several years. I guess after a while, what you have is just not enough anymore.

Apple needs to consider regular iPhone 14/15 models for the Spring event. No point introducing them during Fall Event. The Pro model steals the thunder.

Could it be? In 2023, we may see...
  1. iPhone 15 Pro
  2. iPhone 15 Pro Max
  3. iPhone 15 Ultra
Huh... Breaking up iPhone launches into Fall/Pro & Spring/non-Pro seems a pretty solid idea. As a bonus, gives Apple something fun to talk about in Spring.

And I can totally see Apple adding an "Ultra" to the 15 Pro line. Almost seems a no-brainer. Almost. 😜
As one who has long been tempted by the largest-screened iPones, but always manages to get the smaller Pro, I am committing to a Max (or Ultra) for the 15. Mark it. This will be my fist large-screen iPhone. Hold me to it @TheYayAreaLiving 🎗! 😂

I think Apple can stop making fun of customers and only sell iPhone Pro Max, so to other customers with other products it is not interested, certainly they don't suck the money they give them, but it treats them with insufficiency. So if you are so good you also make yourself exclusive, but no, pecunia not olet, hypocrites. 😂🤣

Dear Apple.

Why not reward your loyal (and well paying) Pro Max customers with a phone UI that isn’t EXACTLY THE SAME as your smallest iPhone.

All that is needed is a Display Zoom “Small” setting. If you can scale the UI larger it can’t be that hard to scale it smaller! Restrict it to the Pro Max if you like. But give us the ability to fit more apps on the Home Screen (and maybe more widgets on the Lock Screen) please!

Just saying…

I was planning to upgrade from my iPhone 11 this year, but since the 14 line still uses the Lightning cable and port, I'll put it off. I don't want to pay c. $1000 for the last generation of iPhone that will be crippled with the old Lightning technology. For at least the last two years rumors have been circulating about a switch to USB-C, but that keeps getting delayed. Perhaps Apple will come up with its own new interface that would eclipse either Lightning or USB-C. The delay in dropping Lightning is frustrating.

I used the "Pro Max" size iPhone for several months and absolutely hated it. Barely fits my hand, awkward to hold. Felt like holding an iPad up to my ear. I quickly replaced it with the smaller size Pro.

I get that a Pro Max may have more internal room for lens mechanisms. So if a Pro Max has better photography specs than a Pro, that's understandable. But it would be a shame if Apple makes a host of other features only available to the Pro Max.
Maybe Apple should come up with an iCamera line which would be primarily dedicated to photography. When photographic capability becomes the main feature dictating the size of what is primarily a mobile telephone, the product begins to lose its original purpose: a conveniently small device used primarily for mobile communication.

This is excellent news, IMO, if this rumor turns out to be true. With a wider range of options, Apple can increase the price on the top end, and lower the price on the bottom end (which is what they did with iPads). The base iPhone and iPad represent the best bargain in tech. That's pretty remarkable considering that Apple isn't known for selling devices that are a good value.
Still loving my base models: iPad 9th gen and iPhone SE 2020.

Excellent idea. I have no interest in a phone whose camera bumps have camera bumps.😂

If I were going to make an educated guess, which is what Kuo is doing here, I’d say that Apple will add to the iPhone range, not with just one Ultra size, but rather shifting the Pro, Pro Max and Ultra versions away from the non-Pro models, in part to force differentiation across the offering.

I had the 7 Plus because of the camera features. I haven't had a plus phone since... Even after a year I still found it annoying to have such a large phone. I had to take it out of my pocket to bend down and tie my shoes!
Sounds about right) Since then I had the XS, which if I recall correctly — didn't lack anything when compared to the max/plus or whatever it was called...
