They should just do what they do with the MacBook line:

iPhone
iPhone Pro

No numbers or names for different sizes, just iPhone and iPhone Pro. Release each in different sizes, but keep the features the same across each screen size of that model.

Yea because they weren’t able to focus in any of the products so they had to cut the crap and just focus on what they do good.

This is not like that though because they only have 2 devices in two sizes. The other devices are just old things they are selling, not at all what Steve encountered when he arrived at Apple.

Selling the older devices is confusing to the average customer. Don’t get me started on the SE models they sell or the ‘student’ iPad they sell. They should just get rid of those & go back to a simplified product line.

Serious question:
you want USB C because
it is easier to charge ?
transfer lot (~200 GB) data to your system every day ?

The reason i ask is
i never connect my phone to my laptop/desktop.
i have so many lightning chargers and cables, i would have to just throw them in garbage now
Then in your case, you have no need for an external cable - Lightning, USB-C, or whatever. You can use a wireless charger for charging most recent iPhones. I prefer to have the option to rapidly charge my phone via a cable, and in sporadic instances, I want a wired interface to my computers or other non-Apple devices. The Lightning cable is proprietary to Apple, and has been around since 2012. Currently, the USB-C standard is the most up-to-date and fairly universal. Even Apple is using USB-C for its latest iPads, laptops, and watches. Only its phones still use Lightning. Not sure why.

Once they add Dynamic Island to all the 15 models, the demand could change. People might just go for the 15 Plus (now with Dynamic Island).

That is, unless the 15 Ultra is some kind of redesign like the Apple Watch Ultra, with a 7” display and exclusive A17 chip that is even better than the one in the 15 Pro.

Seems like they’re just going to test the market to see how much consumers are willing to pay for the best phone. Time will tell.

Well yeah... and the article says they're thinking about changing that

Wow they have telepathy or what?

At the moment. The pro models have same features.

Next model, iPhone 15 will use even better TSM semiconductors and the next generation design.

Are they gonna make a Ruggedized Ultra model for truckers or something?

You tellin’ me I gotta read the article? :)

Some guys were making an argument for usb c data transfer rates. But I’m ok with Wi-Fi 6E for now and the future has faster Wi-Fi too so what’s all that hullabaloo about. Lol.

Europe demands usb c I guess. But you know what? Europe also demands you take a cold shower these days those dum dums

See, what’s recession? What’s inflation? :D Still remember people here saying how people would not buying new iPhones due to inflation. Yet people are keep buying these $1000+ iPhones, maybe even more.

I really admire people who use Max version as their daily phone. I tried with 12 Pro Max and since then I will never look at the phone this size ever again.

I’m rockin my wife’s 14 Pro for another week. I slept in and ordered a bit late, so my 14 Pro Max comes later.

I’ll be glad to go back to the max size personally. The pro is fine but the max is better for me. So for all the peoples out there who wanna be like me - or whose eyes aren’t as good as they once were, it’s pro max.

It funny because the mini had more battery reserve than any of the earlier phones like the 6,7,8 that we lived with for several years. I guess after a while, what you have is just not enough anymore.
All I know is that is the first time I have ever even thought about daily battery life. And not just a thought, but suffering daily with a dead phone by sunset. These phones are also more resource hungry than in the past. I’m curious to hear where these battery reserve metrics came from. Do you have a link?

Wikipedia recently actually changed the definition of the word “recession” lol. Not kidding.

Check the way back machine to see the difference. Big brother says it’s better that way and it fits the bulldada narrative that we will all buy into perhaps.

I still think it’s not that big. I love this size and can never use anything smaller again after years of using a 5, 5s and first generation SE. I’ve been on the Max train since the XS Max and it’s great. I also have a bigger 12.9 inch iPad Pro as it’s easier to draw and write on.

Forget the amateur, the pro, the cool, the ultra, the magnificent and the glowing orange color or another worthless name or design. Perhaps the hipsters in trigger word-obsessed Cuppertino can put back the sim tray and I don’t give a…you know what…what they call it.

Greed is ruining Apple here with iPhones. Too much overlap.

There should only be the mini, regular, and max.

They should all have the same features as much as size permits.

If customers want to save, they can buy last years model or SE.
By that notion then many costumers would have to spend more money for their phones because at that point everything would line up with pro pricing. I don’t understand why the people who prefer pro features think other consumers shouldn’t have a choice.

I don’t mind the 6.1 size but 6.7 inches is ridiculous for a phone, it feels so much bigger and not to mention the extra weight. It’s practically a niche size in the same way that the mini is, and it would be stupid to restrict the top features to only that model, and make those who are getting even the 6.1 inch pro feel like they are getting a second tier device

As someone else has said, it is time to drop the “standard iPhones” and just sell the Pro as the iPhone in 3 different sizes (mini, 6.1 and max) and use previous years’ models and the SE to hit the lower price points

Large phones aren’t niche though. I know just as many if not more people with max size phones as the regular and only 1 with a mini

I think most of us who opt for the Pro over the Pro Max do so because it’s easier to hold and fit in one’s pocket without weighing it down.

I always have two iPhones. Right now I have a 14 Pro and a 12 Pro Max. I’ve also previously owned the XS Max. I almost always reach for the smaller non-Max device.
I carry my pro max in my front right pocket daily and never have a problem or even notice it’s there

Maybe Apple should come up with an iCamera line which would be primarily dedicated to photography. When photographic capability becomes the main feature dictating the size of what is primarily a mobile telephone, the product begins to lose its original purpose: a conveniently small device used primarily for mobile communication.
The market for a separate camera isn’t large enough and most non professionals are now accustom to their phone being the device for almost everything

I don’t think it’s as confusing as you say especially since they have clear number naming scheme. It also allows people who are more price sensitive a product for them yo buy.
