It's really not that big of a deal, and you're reading WAY too much into my simple comment. But bully for you and your hole punch. It seems to mean a great, great deal to you 🤷‍♂️
As a user further up put it best, if you love the notch so much, I'm sure there's a software solution for you.

I’m sure what they love is:
1) a functioning FaceID system that’s good enough for biometric authentication, I.e. payments and passwords
2) the lack of a weird cut-out hole with screen above and below it, that looks like something got on your screen

With the notch, it’s very obvious what it is from just a glance. It’s a little extension of the bezel to contain camera and sensors. With the hole punch, at first glance it looks like you dripped something on your screen.. Also, notice how easily fooled Android Face ID imitators are. They are not the same.

The good-old next iPhone rumors right after release of current models. What’s the track record on these? Anyway I hope the next one is good. Still sticking with 11 pro max. Screw paying for “5G“.

And as I said in my reply to them, I never said such a thing. Saying something doesn't bother you or is not a big deal doesn't not translate into "I love it so much"

Well, I've owned the iPhone X and 12 Pro and the notch doesn't bother me at all. I don't even think about it. I find it odd that some on this forum are so obsessed with it. I'm not talking about people who express a calm opinion about how they'd prefer no notch, but the people who are like "it's an abomination!" I find it hard to take those opinions very seriously, as they seem highly unbalanced. I mean, I don't like the design shown here for the "hole punch", but I wouldn't call it an "atrocity" or an "abomination" LOL!
I've never understood this debate either. The notch has never once bothered me, and a hole-punch is not that much different. I'll admit that I prefer the notch (the dot in the middle or corner of my screen feels weird to me) but I wouldn't be up in arms if Apple did switch over to a hole-punch style as long as we wouldn't take a hit in Face ID performance for it.

Exactly. I'd say you and I (and many others, of course) are apathetic about it. We don't LOVE one or the other, nor do we HATE one or the other.

I would take that “notchless” upgrade thnx gosh 🙄, about time since iPhone X!

Now that’s a design upgrade am looking forward to, hopefully more colour options and enough of all the shades of blue !

Still love my PB 12 PM though…😁

I have an iPhone 11 and the only thing I care about with with iPhone 13 is 5G (with an improved/more efficient modem over the 12 as well) and better battery life. Everything else I honestly don't care about. That includes smaller/no notch, better camera(s), underscreen ID. It just doesn't matter to me. So, given my priorities, I'm not sure the 14 is worth waiting for.

It's easy for Kuo to make these predictions: look at last year's Android flagships and make iPhone predictions for the next two years.

Front face camera hole 🕳

Sounds like Samsung had it for years :(

Mr. Kuo, tell Apple to implement this design, please.

I think that design is more likely than a punch hole that couldn’t accommodate FaceID. Apple just needs to make the FaceID components smaller so they can keep the top bezel thin. I think that design would make it very tempting for a lot of iPhone 13 Pro owners to upgrade. I would upgrade from my 12 Pro.

We have to thank Samsung for paving the way for hole punch design.
I'm waiting for the iPhone 14. This is a minimal update this year

120mhz screen. Big deal. should have had that last year.
I agree with you! This looks like a downright money grab year.

So true...I am 12 Pro Max owner...From Samsung Flip, Fold, hole punches, these are all straight from the copier machine. Unfortunately!

Huh? So what happens to Face ID? And Apple is suddenly gonna jump from 12MP to 48MP?
Sony released a 48MP camera sensor in 2018 (and probably released improved versions since then). Apple uses Sony cameras so this makes sense. Some Android phones already use it. This is the path for Apple to follow when it comes to camera tech.

Kou has gotten quite loquacious after the Watch 7 debacle. Sounds like someone trying to salvage his credibility after Apple dealt a major blow to the rumor mill. I wonder how many of these leaks are also part of Apple's deception.

I don't think the hole punch is true. Apple doesn't like being seen as a follower, but as a trendsetter. The much maligned notch won't be replace with a hole punch. It either notch or no notch; hole punch ain't happening.

My wife has an s21, I have an 11 pro. The hole punch is so much better than the notch. No contest.
I have both too (android with hole punch camera and iPhone 11 PM.) and i agree, it's no contest, the hole punch wins for me easily. It's takes up so much less screen real estate and just plain looks better.

If you can put face-id sensors under the display, you can put the camera under the display too. The front camera does not need to be as high tech as the rear camera
In this selfie obsessed culture for some consumers the front facing camera is more important then the rear. Especially for younger people who don’t have children.

These analysts are like monkeys flinging poop at a wall, hoping something sticks. I could be an analyst too, and make wild-ass guesses.

Hole punch and USB-C and I'll convert from Android.

No ... no you most likely will not. You'll probably complain about bezel's next, or customization woes as well. you're on Android because you prefer much more than a camera hole being there and not on iPhone yet. You choose Android, that's your choice and it's working for you.

Many people drive an ugly car, or old car, even though many things about the car bugs them. But there is a lot of reason beyond visual that people choose what they choose.

Cheers.
