Right out of the box, 10 minutes after I turned it on, it started overheating. I remember thinking, "Oh man. This isn't good at all." I had mine plugged in and charging while I was transferring all the data from my iPhone 12 to the new 15 Pro. After only being plugged in for about 10 minutes, an error message popped up saying that charging had stopped until the iPhone returned to a normal temperature. It wasn't sitting in the sun or anything. It was just moving some files while it sat on the sofa. I was honestly surprised to see that. Surely Apple would have run into this issue during their testing, right??

I smell a class action lawsuit already in the works.
Well last year with my new 14 PM I saw that a bit also the process is intense and heats those phones up significantly it just took a break from charging for a bit (there was plenty of charge) and finished updating my new 14 PM last year

A class action lawsuit because it throttled charging during a processor intensive task to prevent the device from getting hotter and irreversibly damaging the battery? What makes you think this wasn’t by design and would be considered an issue in testing?

This phone sounds like a complete wet duck. Glad i kept my 13 pro max
I use 13 Pro max and it is a complete wet duck too. I mean, I can't even hold it for 1 second after playing Genshin Impact non stop 24 hours with battery charged in.

I knew I wasn’t imagining things. Mine gets pretty hot when using wireless CarPlay.

My wife's 15PM is like a camp fire at times on extended phone calls, and her battery life is terrible. This morning she charged to 100% and when she got home from work (10 hours later) is was at 42% battery life, she said normal use through out the day.

Not expectable Apple

Compromises in a pro device? Never acceptable.

On a positive note, it’ll come in very handy in winter as a fancy hand warmer.

For example ZTE’s Nubia 8/8S Pro has several layers of copper, vapour chamber and carbon-fibre like material for cooling allowing highest sustained CPU/NPU/GPU cooling under the most demanding SoC loads leading the entire industry!

I got the 15 Pro and discovered it can heat up. I measured a temp of 100f-105f on the back. Hotter near the camera elements. It must of been doing a background task since it was temporary. Yet concerning since there was just about nothing open on the phone(Mail and one page Facebook). This is a bummer since I upgraded from the iPhone 8 waiting for fingerprint unlock and USB-C and better then 2.0. Now I am considering rolling it back returning it and going android.

Just got it and waited to charge until it went to 3%, and for 3% to 100% on a Belking QI charger (5w or 7.5w max) it was incredibly hot, I didn’t put any case yet, i wanted to charge it slowly for the first 3 cycles, so I was surprised to see how hot it was.

I was worried so I plugged the usbc cable on an old Samsung adapter and it went much colder.

I will never charge on a qi again with this one.

Tomorrow I will try MagSafe, but my « old » iphone 13 was getting slightly hot on MagSafe so I hope it will be ok.

I am not surprised to see news about heat issues but I hope I didn’t break the battery with that much heat day one…

Also I forgot to say my battery went down VERY FAST, I never experienced this even after a new sync with my old iPhones …

Tomorrow will be my day 2 I will tell you what happens then..

Day2: used MagSafe until 80% much cooler and faster and battery didn’t drained as fast during the day, things seem to get better.

Tomorrow I will fully charge to 100% with MagSafe, I don’t use cables anymore.

What was your ambient temperature? I didn't notice anything doing my transfer.

Does this mean that's how the iPhone 15 pro and Pro Max will be? I don't think just a software fix will help

THIS!! I'm still fond of it 2 years later, it's still fast and smooth... I was toying with the idea of upgrading to the 15 Pro Max but after a lot of back and forth, I decided no... I'm so glad I did!

My fry pan has a titanium layer…maybe the phone and the pan could get cooking…

Kuo is wrong like always...its because ios17
especially instagram and some others apps...even in safari sometimes
This is happening on Ip13/14

It's somewhat amusing that most of the SoC units on Android are not so powerful. The Snapdragon 888 would cause many a phone to overheat but didn't prove itself except that it was faster than the 865.
