Ah, the "I'm one person and can’t make an impact" argument. It would be better if the "rounding error" was rounding down, not up!It's absolutely not a "huge" issue. It's a tiny issue …
An iPhone uses less than 5kWh a year. If the efficiency is 50%, that's 5kWh wasted per year.
The average US houshold uses 11,000kWh per year. So that's 0.05% increase per phone.
Yes, it adds up globally. But it's ridiculous to even talk about, given all the actually huge environmental issues out there. Compared to all the energy wasted through inefficiencies in a typical household, it's a rounding error. Stop telling yourself you're a hero of the environment for saying no to wireless charging. Better take a hard look at your next TV, fridge, dryer and car …
Nope. Less efficient. Generates more heat at the battery. Wireless as an option not the standard.wireless charging is actually the most convenient.
The only agreeable part is cheaper. The rest is, imo, false.USB-C is better, faster, and cheaper than the Lightning
Uh no.Nobody prevents you from using you favourite method.
Unlike removing the port which would leave a lot of people unhappy.
But, yes, lots of courage.
And would we be here without the EU? We will never know. And we don't even know if this will happen. Just a rumour.
Try holding it in your hands or laying in bed and using it while on a wireless charger. It obviously has trade-offs as mentioned by others. How on earth is that even possible? You just drop the phone and forget about it. Rather than fiddling with wires and holes.
Lightning is more fragile due to its direct exposure without protection. The only agreeable part is cheaper. The rest is, imo, false.
USB-C is not better. The port takes up more space, and more fragile due to the stupid male connector inside the port. This also made the port harder to clean or dry out.
USB-C is not faster. Pretty much all mid-range Android or lower with USB-C are also USB2.0 speed. Even Xiaomi's flagship is USB2.0. USB-C is just the connector. Plenty of cheap USB-C cables are basically just USB2.0 cables with USB-C connector. And iPad Pros did have Lightning at USB3 speed.
I’ve never had a a lightning cable fail at the connector. I can’t speak for USB-C because I haven’t used it enough but it’s definitely not an issue. I will say it’s a lot tougher than micro USB which I have quite a bit of experience with and that completely sucks.Lightning is more fragile due to its direct exposure without protection.
Exactly what benefits will you get from USB-C? The only thing I could think of is faster transfer speed but that would only apply if you’re using it a lot for video. I don’t so perhaps that’s why I don’t really see this as an issueLightning was great when it was released, nothing else really existed and it was a great replacement for that 30 pin connector but now we have alternatives. I will be very glad when the iPhone changes to USB-C. In fact, I will probably keep my iPhone 12 until the iPhone has USB-C.
I thought it wasn't as convenient as well until I bought a duo charger for traveling and a magsafe charger for the car, it's pretty effortless locking into place to charge and then grabbing and going. I am looking at the battery pack for those in between moments where I can't sit around. I only plug my phone in now when I absolutely need CarPlay maps.It really isn’t.
Wireless Charging requires direct placement in order to properly charge, and I find it’s inconsistent at times, Especially when it moves around in the car due to motion.
And I’m also not entirely comfortable with how warm my iPhone is when it is wireless charging, which can’t be healthy for the Li-ion battery.
