The delay in massive AI offerings doesn't sound difficult to believe. I doubt even Apple can spin up GenAI at scale in a year. Even with OTS LLMs, the integration and specialization will be a hefty lift.

Foldable, flexible displays are here. Throw us a bone. New form factors and thinking outside the box, and pair it with a reimagined iOS beyond a grid of icons.

Instead, Apple spent a better part of a decade and placed their bets on the VisionPro.
If that’s Tim’s vision of the future, it will certainly be part of his legacy win or lose.
Foldable displays account for less than 2% of the market. Not exactly a ringing endorsement of the design. Also, the iPhone design team is not the same as AVP team. No one stole money or design expertise from one to the other. There is no "instead".

First time I'm saying this, but it really feels apple is lagging behind, at this point.
Missing out on the 2024 season (with regards to AI) would be a risky move, as competitors (mainly google and Samsung) will have improved immensely.
Same thing with the mac, especially with the fierce competition microsoft copilot is offering.

I thought we just had an article a week ago saying that iOS 18 is the largest OS update ever, built entirely around AI? is that off the table or are they just saying there won't be special hardware tied to AI until iPhone 17 or later? If AI plans just rolled over and died for Apple in 2024 that would be hugely disappointing.
Gurman vs. Kuo. Tune in next season to find out who will win!

After spending decades with SLR/DSLR cameras, I would love a light press for center focus and full press for capture dedicated button on the phone.

You don't think the Macintosh product line is profitable?
You don't think Apple Music (and the whole Apple Store, Apple TV+, etc.) is profitable?

Yes, the iPhone is Apple's biggest selling product and is why Apple is the most valued high-tech company in the world. But even without the iPhone the company is still large and profitable.

151.3 million iPhone units were shipped and sold in the first three quarters of 2023. Over 2.3 billion iPhone units have been sold to date. iPhones held a 21% share of total smartphones shipped in Q1 2023.

Whether or not those other businesses would be profitable as standalone businesses, without sharing technologies, processes, and supply chains developed for the iPhone, is a hypothetical that nobody can answer. But we can say that the iPhone is clearly Apple’s revenue and valuation driver.

I love it how this eco-concerned company insists of making insignificant changes to the body each year to make existing cases obsolete. It's almost as if they didn't care they produce redundant waste with each iteration. Almost 😂

6.9? People are already complaining about how big the S24U with 6.8" display is. Granted, the iPhone pro max is lighter, but it's really getting close to the the size of the Galaxy fold when opened lol

They should just stop adding the number to the iPhone name. Imagine if every MacBook would have a new number: MacBook 26 with M3 CPU.
The lack of release significance will fit this better too.

RIP iPhone 16 Pro Max, hopefully the iphone 17 pro max will put an end to this ‘s’ cycle.

My 12 pro max is still surprisingly holding well for my needs. I am holding back for the punch hole design with a smaller dynamic footprint.

AI is nothing but a marketing term for things that have existed for ages. The iPhone already has tons of AI just like every other phone has for the last decade. Siri has been AI from the start, the camera does tons of AI since ages, IOS does tons of AI stuff all the time.

We just didn't call it AI, because there's NO reason whatsoever to specifically call it AI.
I agree except that with Siri, AI stands for Attempted Intelligence …

I don't know how this guy can make pronouncements about a software feature. It's hard to keep hardware features out of the rumor mill, but not software features.

Apple has put all its money and focus into its iVision Pro to save the company.

Although the iVision pro’s initial shipment has sold out, the next shipment sales is up in the air as many core Apple enthusiast’s have already purchased the initial batch.

In the meantime other products that everyone cares about and uses like phones, tablets & computers are being neglected with tweaks or minor revisions.
