The amount of haters on forums...of all types is astounding. The amount of haters in this thread is astounding.
How about while yawning? Laughing? In the dark on my nightstand? In my pocket? Laying flat on my desk 2 feet away? While angled toward a checkstand paypoint reader?Pandemic asides, I think a faster Face ID that also works at larger angles is a better overhaul solution than Touch ID.
Where do people get this stuff from? We've spent years getting rid of fragile components? Please, no foldable phones. We've spent years getting rid of troublesome fragile mechanical components in smartphones. The last thing I want is for phones to go back to that.
Owning an 11 Pro Max, and an iPad Pro 12.9, I'd go back to TouchID in a heartbeat. I'm getting a bit hacked of with having to position my face in the right position for the iPad, and getting "Camera Covered" messages. I liked being able to unlock my devices without even having to look at them.I don’t understand all this hype about TouchID coming back. I just sold my 12 Pro and currently using a 7 Plus, and TouchID just seems such a step backwards compared to FaceID. Also I don’t understand why they’d implement TouchID with FaceID, it’s redundant![]()
It definitely needs a multi-orientation Face ID like on the iPad Pro’s!Pandemic asides, I think a faster Face ID that also works at larger angles is a better overhaul solution than Touch ID.
Kuo pumps out a Touch ID rumor every year. It’s probably an easy paycheck at this pointKuo: *been leaking accurately for the past few years*
Also Kuo: *gets wrong information about the design of the Watch 7*
Y'all: HE IS FRAUD, STOP GIVING HIM ATTENTION
Please, no foldable iPhone. Not in 2022, not in 2023.... never please.
Touch ID is so dead that Apple put it in the iPad Pro and Air, and the MacBook Pro and Air, and the Magic KeyboardsPlease, no touchID anymore, inscreen ir wherever, it’s dead
I don’t think Touch ID is coming back to iPhones.
Agree. I think Apple is all in on FaceID.I don’t think Touch ID is coming back to iPhones.
This should definitely have been at least the interim solution. I am frankly flabbergasted that Apple has not addresses the issue of masks at all this year. They had more than a year to do something about it. They have done NOTHING (I don't want to hear about unlocking with Apple Watch - haven't got one, don't want one). Face ID was not even mentioned during the keynote and it is barely mantioned in the promo materials for iphone 13. It's absolutely clear now that masks are not going away any time soon. There needs to be a method to quickly authenticate with masks on. Apple not doing anything about it for 2 more years is a major fail.Instead of investing millions of dollars on under Screen tech they could just take the power button TouchID part from the iPad Air and iPad mini. Cost: $5. Time to implement: 2 weeks.
Rewrite the authentication algorithm:
If (face visible) use FaceID
Else if (mask on) use TouchID
Else fail login
