They said prototypes have been tested by various high profile peoples

I just can’t see them having tested this device where most people would use it.

On a noisy train or bus, on the street while shopping, in a cafe, in a noisy restaurant etc etc

And in any case, didn’t Sam Altman just encourage the use of pen and paper in a recent YouTube video 🤔

Yes so true when I seen the pin it look like Star Trek badge, it failed really bad because the Ai tech was not ready and had a terrible battery life along with hologram that was not ready but really crude and many times did not work.

The pin was just not ready.

One thing about Apple is Apple brings out tech when the tech is ready and mature.

Just look at Microsoft tablets before iPad they where horrible slow, really big to hold and carry around, had noises fans and ran hot, terrible battery life, running windows XP not mobile friendly, and just way too early before tech was mature.

Apple waits for the tech to be ready and mature and bring out product that not prototype.
Even in star treck those badges have limited uses. They are basically trackers and communicators.

But it looks beautiful 😂

All I really see is a human tracker. Monitoring me, and what I’m doing, and those around me.

An invasive, hideous, data hungry piece of garbage.

He’s talking form factor, that there is no screen, has a mic, camera … and 2 years away.
Whatever, you’re losing more and more credibility Kuo

I just hope they have a model made out of aluminum and there's a video of Jony talking about it, because I love hearing him say "Al-loo-min-ium" 😄

Am I the only one excited and not complaining about the new product?
Everyone else here is just having an existential crisis regarding Apple.
This is the type of hype that old-Apple used to bring and we’re all just jealous it’s not happening here.
But you know, tech is not exclusive. You can be non-monogamous.

This seems like a "solution" in search of a problem. What can this do that my smartphone can't?
When your smartphones is in your pocket, it’s basically blind and deaf. This device is supposed to have immediate awareness of your surroundings 24/7, so you don’t have to be prepared for use cases in advance by pulling out your phone, but can make use of what happens around you even after the fact. It’s also hands-free.

So now Ming Chi Kuo has sources inside OpenAI or Jony's team, interesting.

2 years until we see a hardware product... Anything they do now with an AI hardware device is gonna be out of date by 2027.

That said, it continues to strike me as a curious decision to make the device screenless.
It won’t have full-fledged AI on-device and will need the phone for cellular/wifi connectivity to talk to the actual cloud-based AI. This device will basically be cameras, mics, speaker, Bluetooth chip, and a battery to power it. Probably quite similar to the rumored AirPods with cameras. Since you need the phone anyway, there is little use in giving the device a screen, it would only make it bulkier, and also heavier due the larger battery needed.

Here's how I imagine the first conversation between Ive and Altman went:

IVE: "Sam, let me tell ya mate. That Rabbit R1, and the Humane AI Pin? Bollocks. *****."
ALTMAN: "Do you have something better in mind?"
IVE: "It's like an iPod shuffle for AI, worn around your neck."
ALTMAN: "Will it be beautiful?"
IVE: "As beautiful as you - and the consumer - can afford."
ALTMAN: "Good, I'll send over the paperwork."

Tim and Eric Bro-oche!

How would he know? I doubt there’s many of these on a manufacturing line somewhere.
Everything Kuo knows is due to supply-chain contacts who tell him what is in the talks with manufacturers.

Ah! So it's tantamount to a useless trinket then?

The shuffle was great for the time, but like the iPod touch and nano the time came and went. A screen-less AI device that we have to ADD to the other 4 fully functional devices in our bags doesn't seem appealing. It's why the other 2-3 devices like it failed.
