Before, good earphones would last 5 years or more… I love my Max, but not sure there will be enough value in the Max 2, unless Apple breaks slowly over time the ANC to make the Max 2 much better than then Max 1.
Can someone keep a Max 1 in their box 2 years more and the compare with the Max 2 the ANC?.

The AR/VR headset is so annoying and getting on my nerves. It's already taking a long time and shifting Apple's primary focus on innovating its existing product lineup.

I liked VR gaming a lot the few times I tried it. But I just can't see myself wearing even lightweight AR/VR glasses for anything other than gaming or a specific work purpose or very niche interests like virtual tourism or concert/event viewing. (I was blown away by a Cirque du Soleil performance made especially for VR viewing)

It will be interesting to see how Apple will go about convincing us this is the next big thing we are all going to want.

For one, it sounds like it will be horribly expensive. Secondly, the rumored specs sound like they will send me to the hospital, needing to be treated by my neurologist for the mother of all migraines. And then there's the issue of who wants to be seen wearing these things? There's an AR component that suggests we will want to wear it outside of the home or workplace.

Oh, I almost forgot to elaborate on VR tourism. It's cool to see tourist attractions in virtual reality. It's probably even an eco friendly way to do so. But again, it all still seems a bit niche.

I'm extremely interested in seeing how Apple sells this to us. For once, I'm having a hard time envisioning it. I could with the Apple Watch. Naysayers couldn't dissuade me from my enthusiasm. This time, eh...I'll keep an open mind, but I don't personally feel sold on the concept as I did with the Apple Watch.

If they are able to get wireless-lossless in the AirPods Max it will be a day 1 buy from me! I love the sound quality of my beyerdynamic lagoons and that they can do lossless audio via a built-in USB DAC but I hate nearly everything else about them (build quality, garbage wireless audio quality and pairing, bad ANC, bad controls, etc) and AirPods Max with wireless lossless would be the perfect package for me.

GOAT.

for me. They are. Now if I could just figure how to clean the ear pads easily. They are getting rather. Gross on my pair.
Throw them in the washing machine. I'm not kidding. I have the white ones and they dingy after a while. Put them in a little mesh washing bag and go for it. I even accidentally threw them in the dryer last time and thought I'd ruined them, but... it was fine.

As early as next year? As in 2024?! What!!! I thought the new AirPods Max with USB-C was supposed to launch this year?

How hard can it be to switch to a USB-C socket and design a decent travel case for the damn things? Ridiculous.
Who said that's all they're changing?

Also, I have to laugh at people whining about the lightning port when you're already charging your phone that way.

I have AirPods Maxes too, had them since Summer 2021 and use them everyday, but yeah they're garbage lmao. No power button to turn them off,
The power button is weird but honestly it doesn't affect me. I charge them every few days and go on with my life. It's not the end of the world.

a lightning connector on them instead of USB-C,
Who cares. You're using that cable right now to charge your iPhone. Unless you're from the future and already have a USB-C iPhone.

Siri constantly annoying you interrupting your content,
You can turn this off in iOS settings. Not an issue.

Eventually the battery in those Maxes is not gonna hold a charge anymore just like all other bluetooth headphones, so without an aux mode they just become ewaste, ewaste you spent over $500 on.
Wrong. The battery is replacable. It's $79 from Apple.

USB-C?

At this point, I can't buy anything lightening in 2023.
Exactly. The fact Apple sells so many lightning accessories is baffling. They could have at least migrated the mouse and keyboards over. It was a mistake from day one to put lightning on those.

Let me think about this. Might just do it, though!

thank you.

I love my AP Max, my only complaint is the "bra" "case". Can't even buy a replacement if I wanted to. Personally the lack of a power button was never an issue for me, the battery life is good enough.

Im massively disappointed in my Max’s. They drop out listening to music, and calls, like clock work every several minutes. I cant believe this is what is going on, other AirPods dont.

Anyone has a tip or can help, TIA been super frustrating.

See they are coming out with ‘new; ones is almost an insult, given my performance with mine : /

If they re-design / improve the looks of Airpods Max and make them a bit lighter I might consider buying a pair..I've had many good wireless headphoness, currently own Sennheiser Momentum 3 (hands down best sound quality wireless headphones) and also Airpods Pro.I tried Airpods Max but really didn't like the strange industrial design and weight.sound quality was good though (but not as good as Momentum 3's).like Airpod Pros ease of connection is their biggest advantage.

Do a reset on them. Otherwise check the sensors on each head and make sure they’re not covered.

Mass shipments of second-generation AirPods Max and more affordable AirPods will likely begin in the second half of 2024 or the first half of 2025, according to the latest information shared by Apple supply chain analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.

Misread the title and got my hopes up for early next year release, then got my hopes dashed by the "second half of 2024 or the first half of 2025." Kind of mad that I might have to wait an additional 2-2.5 years for this. I'm surprised that they can release a new iPhone every year, but need up to four years for AirPods. They knew the USB-C thing was a possibility for a while now, plus they have USB-C and U1 in several devices, so why so long?

I'd love to try out the AirPods Max, but hate how they don't support lossless formats, muchness hi-def lossless. Sure, you can do the lightning to 3.5mm adapter + 3.5mm cord thing, but that's not a full lossless thing. Plus, then you probably lose the Spatial Audio.

I bought the APM at launch. Build quality was top notch but they were too heavy. Sound quality was also top notch. Not being able to turn them off/on at will was a huge mistake. Don't get me started on the bra case. I ended up returning them. The price on these should've been $350, tops.

Also, I have to laugh at people whining about the lightning port when you're already charging your phone that way.
For me, it's more of a why is it taking so long to put in a USB-C port when other devices already have it? It shouldn't take them up to 2.5 years (assuming they ship late in the second half of 2025) to integrate the USB-C controller and port into the case and mass-produce them.

I suspect the rest of the product line is slowing because (1) supply chain issues, such as rampant covid and shutdowns in China (2) its cheaper to keep making an established product then tool up a new assembly line using newer parts. If the newer device would be the same price and wouldn't capture a ton of new sales because of the economy, why rush?

I look forward to USB-C, hopefully with a class compliant interface (like others in the product category and price range) so I can plug them directly into my (then) new USB-C iPhone and my Macbook for music making (actually latency free sound).

That's actually not a bad idea.. They have all that surface area on the cups to work with. I could picture some really nice 3rd party stands where you can just slap the headphones on.
I'd rather have USB-C with charging-in-sue, fast charging support and audio support.

contact charging would require design compromises - e.g. change the back of the cups to glass / plastic for a MagSafe puck, or require a specific wired stand to make electrical contacts
