"Kuo says [the new iPad Mini] will feature an upgraded processor and a lower-cost panel."

So Apple is going to give the iPad Mini their Mac Mini treatment?
I would've bought a 2014 Mac Mini back in 2014 if the thing had been at least as good as the 2012 Mac Mini in every respect.
But it wasn't.
So now I'm going to have my wish of a new iPad Mini come true, except that they're gonna give it the iPad Mini 2-3 thickness and weight and screen quality?

Apple is just so damn infuriating.

You're right, I have a hard time imagining Apple making a sub-$329 even-more-budget iPad... so, fingers crossed for an iPad mini Pro! With a FaceID/lack of home button redesign they could probably fit an 8.9" display into a body that's very nearly the same size as the current 7.9" mini. Add Pencil support and it'd be perfect for travel photographers.

Face ID would be an issue for the Aviation Industry IMO. The Mini’s currently in use (huge amount) are shared by many different crew at times. :apple:

If true, I don’t expect a lot of retraction from those people who decreed with impressive confidence that the ipad mini was dead, get over it, move on.
Well. It’s just good old Kuo stating this.
iPad Mini and Mac Mini are dead.

What’s the point of the iPad mini now that iPhones reach the 6.5” territory?
Ummm, the iPhone XS Max starts at $1100. The iPad Mini 4 is $400. Also, the screen sizes are directly comparable - the iPad Mini still has close to twice the screen area of the iPhone XS Max. I think the iPad Mini is pretty popular with pilots and in retail settings, in addition to the consumers who like the smaller form factor so I think it may be a device that while Apple doesn't see value in updating it annually it does make sense to update it every few years to drive upgrades in those settings.

About $600 price difference. That's the point. Aside from the fact that even a 6.5 inch screen has still roughly only about 75% of the screen size of the 7.9 inch iPad mini.

Anyway, I have my doubts that we will actually see Mac updates, at least no significant ones. No because I'm just negative, but because the iPad Pro update is too big to share the stage time with a hypothetical reworked new Mac mini or "low-cost" Macbook.
The Xr cost €850 wher I live. So that would make the (don’t believe it) iPad Mini cost, according to your calculations, less then €250!
Smoking to much pot lately?

Pilots?
“Pilots looking to buy the best iPad available today should definitely steer towards the 10.5″ Pro. This model significantly improves on previous full-size iPad designs by including a much faster processor, larger/brighter display and increased storage capacity”

“...that will work with the AirPower”

The only thing we need to do with AirPower is pay for it, and gladly accept not receiving the non existing product. It’s truly, just Air.

Wow. Your response sounds like you actually believe this as it was coming from .
Kuo just throws stuff at a wall knowing one of them will stick.
Mac Mini, iPad Mini are dead.  doesn’t care about anything with Mini behind it. It has to be Pro. To justify the high cost.

Kuo has provided good reports before so it's certainly possible, just unexpected. There are rumors of a new Mac mini also so I guess we'll see what happens. Apple released a low cost iPad, a low cost iPhone X, and there is a rumored low cost MacBook also, so I think they are trying to hit a number of different price points.

AirPods with Hey Siri? Great! Another place where she can frustrate me for being beyond stupid.
First, make Siri usable. Then expand to other devices please.

I wonder if they will do a XR style iPad as a lower cost version?

Although I don't think they are going to announce a new regular iPad, I am absolutely excited of the prospects of a iPad XR! Hope they release it in the same matching colors as well. The only thing is with an iPad XR, i see them increasing prices back up to maybe $379-$399.

I think most people here would be exciteded about this but a Mini with the home button and bezels doesn’t sound very interesting to me.
Sure, but they could use the bezel- and button-less design to be a feature of the Pro to set it apart. A Mini-Pro would be difficult to place in the market.

Why are they listening to Kuo? Seriously these are all predictions everyone on this forum can make! USB Type C on Apple products? Ha! That's a good one!

Because he’s right about plenty of things over the years
you will feel silly if/when USB type C arrives
