So 5.4 inch will be lighter than 8? I feel my X is slightly too heavy and too large so 5.4 will be perfect for me! There were rumors of thinner bezel which would further help with size and weight.
There's are times where I would love an XS like when its docked for driving and other times like sitting on a train but I don't know if I could ever deal with that thing in my front pants pocket. Im currently using iPhone 8 without a case and it's glorious for size in my pocket.
I rarely have to reach the top corner of the screen and I keep my phone caseless. I don’t have an issue using it one handed for most things even the max. I use reachability a lot also. I never had issues with the x. The max is a little harder but I still use it one handled all the time. You can only use them one-handed if you shift the phone in your hand to reach the top of the screen, generally going from actually holding the phone to sliding your fingers behind it, loosely supporting it. It’s not that it’s utterly impossible, it’s annoying and unwieldy to have to shift the phone in your hand to hit certain things on the screen.
Old people and tight pantsThe cult-like appeal for the SE is perplexing and it’s an obsession that seems to be largely unique to MR forum members. Very odd.
Anyone hoping for the notch to go away/become hidden cares. Anyone waiting for 5G, even if it’s a good amount of hype at the moment, probably cares. Anyone who’s interested in a 120Hz display (ProMotion) cares. Anyone who’s interested in USB-C cares. Once all of that arrives, I think we can honestly call that iPhone, “peak iPhone”, at least when it comes to the typical, rectangular smartphone shape we’ve all become accustomed to holding in our hands since 2007. The next “ascension” of the smartphone/iPhone would be the ability (maybe) to turn a smaller phone into a larger phone (display that expands) like we’ve seen in some sci-fi movies/TV shows. The first attempt hasn’t gone too well for Samsung.Does anyone care about next years iPhones? We’re still 3 months away from this years yet!
He has a record of being right, even this far into the future. Ming is the most accurate of all the insiders. This is such a nonsense post. Not only that we are still 3 months away from the new iPhone that is definitely locked but the iPhone in 2020 is not locked in any way. Probably the final design etc. will be locked around feb-march so all these "predictions" are pointless as it could change many times.
Also, we all know that 5G is given next year and we all know that the XR phone will not have all the things so this is just a guessing if anything else.
I believe other than the first gen iphone, the display size has had a change or addition every two years (one year with the xr). Wondering if the lineup of display sizes will ever settle.
You want old people? How's this for get-off-my-lawn?
Apple will never talk about NITS for these displays. They have to be half the brightness of my 6Plus - any wonder the blacks are blacker, they're half as bright! These OLED displays were a no-go before Apple started using them, and even worse now that Apple has picked them up - colours are off, view angle is disgusting. I don't need rounded corners that don't display anything useful (looks like the 1980s - Ive, wake up!), the phones are heavier and thicker and I don't need wireless charging - When is Apple going to give me a reason to upgrade. Everything I look at is smaller on the X phones than on my 6Plus - stop offering me trade-ins, just make a phone that's in any way an improvement -- and no, I'm not paying for a faster processor when everything on the screen is smaller!!
Still waiting for a reason to upgrade… (and like the 6 design, we'll be stuck with the X design for 4 years, sheesh).
I'm sold on the camera upgrade and the possibility of USB-C. Anything else will be gravy.
5G restricted to Max models only a result of battery concerns?
Edit: missed that it’s the 5.4 and 6.7 getting the modem. Can see this as a feature differentiation instead.
Or just a missing feature in order to have a cheaper model just like the Xr.
Today they put LCD on the Xr and OLED on the Xs, once the entire lineup will be OLED they'll need something else to differentiate, it may be the camera, but 5G vs LTE looks like a good candidate to me.
Well, that would satisfy a lot of people in 2020.
5.4 inch
6.1 inch
6.7 inch
A 5.4” would be pretty close to the 6/7/8 (not the SE); almost the same width, and 0.22” (1/5”) less tall.I guess they might be able to squeeze the devices to get a 6.7" display in the old 6.5" Chassis, especially if the phone has squared edges like the SE. If that logic is maintained for the 5.4" version, this could be slap bang between an iPhone SE and iPhone 8 size. This is a compromise I might be able to accept. <snip>
This is apple you are talking about. As long as the smaller model isn’t punished with a lesser camera.
It will cost more as it will have 5G and be better in areas like camera that’s whyAnd the 5.4" is of course gonna be more expensive than 6.1". Apple has no logic at all.....
Hell no to the 5.4". I don't want a smaller phone, but I don't want a giant 6.7" EITHER. If there are buyers who want a small phone, either make an SE or get over it.
5.4 inch screen:
About 0.4 inches shorter and 0.2 inch less wide than a iPhone X/xs.
So the size will be between a 5s/se and iPhone 6/7/8.
A 5.4” would be very close to the 6/7/8 (not the SE); almost the same width, and 0.18” (1/6”) less tall.
...Anyone who likes the SE because it’s operable one-handed will be very disappointed with a 5.4” 11S.
No, it’s very logical. More expensive parts = more expensive selling price. And the 5.4" is of course gonna be more expensive than 6.1". Apple has no logic at all.....
