So 5.4 inch will be lighter than 8? I feel my X is slightly too heavy and too large so 5.4 will be perfect for me! There were rumors of thinner bezel which would further help with size and weight.

There's are times where I would love an XS like when its docked for driving and other times like sitting on a train but I don't know if I could ever deal with that thing in my front pants pocket. Im currently using iPhone 8 without a case and it's glorious for size in my pocket.

I’ll take the 6.7 inch model. My XS Max seem too small for me at times and I would love a bigger phone with a better camera and a Qualcomm modem. I love my XS Max, so I’ll holding onto it until 2020.

You can only use them one-handed if you shift the phone in your hand to reach the top of the screen, generally going from actually holding the phone to sliding your fingers behind it, loosely supporting it. It’s not that it’s utterly impossible, it’s annoying and unwieldy to have to shift the phone in your hand to hit certain things on the screen.
I rarely have to reach the top corner of the screen and I keep my phone caseless. I don’t have an issue using it one handed for most things even the max. I use reachability a lot also. I never had issues with the x. The max is a little harder but I still use it one handled all the time.

I knew once the OnePlus 7 Pro and Note 10 got bigger screens, that the iPhone would bump the size up too.

My 7 Plus still runs perfectly fine. Sometimes I have to top off four or five times a day. But I make it work. But it's getting a little long in the tooth.

2020 sounds like it's gonna be the year to upgrade. But man oh man, that 6.7 will be a brick. I've got big hands, but Apple doesn't seem to care about ergonomics. The XS Max weighs too much as it is! And I don't even want to think about the price lol.

Hopefully there's at least a smaller notch...and more than 64gb for the base model. Either way, it'll make for countless hours of entertainment as the various YouTube channels trash Apple for still having a notch and 64gb of base storage.

Does anyone care about next years iPhones? We’re still 3 months away from this years yet!
Anyone hoping for the notch to go away/become hidden cares. Anyone waiting for 5G, even if it’s a good amount of hype at the moment, probably cares. Anyone who’s interested in a 120Hz display (ProMotion) cares. Anyone who’s interested in USB-C cares. Once all of that arrives, I think we can honestly call that iPhone, “peak iPhone”, at least when it comes to the typical, rectangular smartphone shape we’ve all become accustomed to holding in our hands since 2007. The next “ascension” of the smartphone/iPhone would be the ability (maybe) to turn a smaller phone into a larger phone (display that expands) like we’ve seen in some sci-fi movies/TV shows. The first attempt hasn’t gone too well for Samsung.

You want old people? How's this for get-off-my-lawn?

Apple will never talk about NITS for these displays. They have to be half the brightness of my 6Plus - any wonder the blacks are blacker, they're half as bright! These OLED displays were a no-go before Apple started using them, and even worse now that Apple has picked them up - colours are off, view angle is disgusting. I don't need rounded corners that don't display anything useful (looks like the 1980s - Ive, wake up!), the phones are heavier and thicker and I don't need wireless charging - When is Apple going to give me a reason to upgrade. Everything I look at is smaller on the X phones than on my 6Plus - stop offering me trade-ins, just make a phone that's in any way an improvement -- and no, I'm not paying for a faster processor when everything on the screen is smaller!!

Still waiting for a reason to upgrade… (and like the 6 design, we'll be stuck with the X design for 4 years, sheesh).

This is such a nonsense post. Not only that we are still 3 months away from the new iPhone that is definitely locked but the iPhone in 2020 is not locked in any way. Probably the final design etc. will be locked around feb-march so all these "predictions" are pointless as it could change many times.
Also, we all know that 5G is given next year and we all know that the XR phone will not have all the things so this is just a guessing if anything else.
He has a record of being right, even this far into the future. Ming is the most accurate of all the insiders.
[doublepost=1560835605][/doublepost]6.7 inches sounds good. I always want the biggest phone available.

I guess they might be able to squeeze the devices to get a 6.7" display in the old 6.5" Chassis, especially if the phone has squared edges like the SE. If that logic is maintained for the 5.4" version, this could be slap bang between an iPhone SE and iPhone 8 size. This is a compromise I might be able to accept.

... I think I'm gonna get another SE to tide me over. My current battery is 3 years old and the front facing camera doesn't work anymore.

Hell no to the 5.4". I don't want a smaller phone, but I don't want a giant 6.7" EITHER. If there are buyers who want a small phone, either make an SE or get over it.

I believe other than the first gen iphone, the display size has had a change or addition every two years (one year with the xr). Wondering if the lineup of display sizes will ever settle.

6, 6s, 7, 8 all had the same design and screen size.

Turn display zoom on. Everything is now bigger on your screen.

I'm sold on the camera upgrade and the possibility of USB-C. Anything else will be gravy.

The USB-C possibility is increasing as we have USB-C , USB-PD 3.0, USB 3.2 as well as security features all sorted out, may be even USB4. But I doubt Apple will drop MFi. So if you are hoping for cheaper cables, I don't think that will happen.

5G restricted to Max models only a result of battery concerns?

Edit: missed that it’s the 5.4 and 6.7 getting the modem. Can see this as a feature differentiation instead.

Or just a missing feature in order to have a cheaper model just like the Xr.
Today they put LCD on the Xr and OLED on the Xs, once the entire lineup will be OLED they'll need something else to differentiate, it may be the camera, but 5G vs LTE looks like a good candidate to me.

The 5G Modem, and those mmWave Antenna are bloody expensive. ( While bring little to no actual improvement in majority of cases ). So those are only on XS Successors' Model. And my guess is that mmWave will stay that way for a bit of time before coming down to XR.

Well, that would satisfy a lot of people in 2020.

5.4 inch
6.1 inch
6.7 inch

That is actually a brilliant move. I have always wonder how they are going to have a Smaller phone without hurting their ASP. The 5.4" will still be $999.

I also think it would be 5.5", and not 5.4". Reason being 5.5" 19.5 : 9 Ratio Display has the exact same width as 4.7" 16.9 Ratio Display. i.e The 5.5" iPhone will be the size as the current 4.7" iPhone.

The 6.7" is assuming the Bezel shrinks by 2mm on each side from the current 4mm. That is quite a tall order.

No *** Sherlock! Apple's going to release smartphones in 2020 ?? Talk about breaking news !!

A 5.4” would be pretty close to the 6/7/8 (not the SE); almost the same width, and 0.22” (1/5”) less tall.

SE (4.0) 2.31 x 4.87
8 (4.7”) 2.65 x 5.45
XS (5.8”) 2.79 x 5.65
XR (6.1” ) 2.98 x 5.94
Max (6.5”) 3.05 x 6.20

With the same bezel width as the XS, the 5.4” would be:

11S (5.42”) 2.58 x 5.23

However, although the physical size of the 5.4” would be close to the 6/7/8, it would be much more difficult to use one-handed, since the 11S will require a 5.4” diagonal thumb stretch—almost the same (5.5”) as a 6/7/8 Plus—instead of the 4.0” stretch of the SE or even the 4.7” of the regular 6/7/8.

Anyone who likes the SE because it’s operable one-handed will be very disappointed with a 5.4” 11S.

Yeah it's a shame, but to be honest the only factor I'm interested in is the width of the phone (short thumbs)

I hope people don't mind me reposting an image I created before during the original Digitimes report. This was assuming a 4mm bezel, which I really hope / expect that Apple will be able to improve upon in the 2020 devices.

Anything slimmer than the iPhone 8 is something I'm onboard with!

And the 5.4" is of course gonna be more expensive than 6.1". Apple has no logic at all.....
No, it’s very logical. More expensive parts = more expensive selling price.

For instance, the current XS has more expensive parts than the larger XR: a more expensive screen (the XS’s OLED is more expensive than XR’s LCD, even though it’s smaller); more RAM (4GB vs. 3GB); a better rear camera; a stainless steel vs. aluminum frame; a faster cellular modem; 3D Touch; and probably some other things I’ve forgotten.
