Not correct. The iMac is still on delayed shipping. Order today for delivery in September. That's the base model. All the others are for late August shipping if you don't do CTO. Increase the ram and delivery is for September.
That's not that delayed. A few weeks isn't out of the ordinary, they may just have more demand than expected. Compared to the car industry and others that use older, far more constrained chips, this is nothing.

EDIT: I just checked and I can get one by the 18th at the earliest, with Sept 9th being the very latest I could get it to go. Delayed for Apple but in the grand scheme of things that's not bad at all.

Look at the marketing material for the iMacs. It’s pictures of families, students, small businesses. The first thing on the education store is the MacBook Air. The iMac was created for those who just want to get online and has remained mostly true to that goal. The 99% was just an exaggeration to show my point, not an actual statistic :)

The chip shortage is actually mostly affecting older 55nm-ish chips. Apple has been largely unaffected too, as they order in the kinds of quantities that gives them priority manufactuing status.
I think you’re only thinking about the SoC? Everything is constrained, including power supply components, LEDs, batteries, support chips… While Apple had some sway with their volumes, they’ll still be restricted— if they got everything they demanded, they’d be the only customer served.

Yup, that's why I said largely unaffected instead of completely unaffected. They are facing minor delays here and there, but compared to others they're not really being hit as hard.

Loving what Apple are doing with their Air products. The Ipad Air 4, iphone 12 (an Air product in everything but name), M1 Macbook Air and 24” IMac M1 with their colour options, are clearly positioned as Apples mainstream devices for the masses, and to sell in high volumes for a reasonable price.

I'm here for this. MacBook Air is really all I need now-a-days. Except for those pastel-y colors...

I really hope the bring back the MacBook moniker, and what better was to do so with some colorful options. Really hoping for more than silver, slightly darker silver and rose gold this next generation.
Better yet, I would love for Apple to bring back the iBook moniker. I realize this will probably never happen but I do miss the name. :)

If it gets an M2 chip, new magsafe, and a new screen, what is left to add to the 13/14" Pro line up? Maybe a little bit more powerful chip, higher max memory and SSD, and a fan? But, sounds like the Air will enough laptop for most.

Perhaps will go to a 3 laptop line up. 13" Air, 14 and 16" Pro.

Way too late. Why can't these be out this year? Due to the pandemic, people are upgrading their computers in 2020 and 2021. By 2022, those who wanted to upgrade probably had done so.
Apple wants people to buy the M1 MBA and MBP .
I'm watching these Macbooks being offered en masse in classifieds here in Germany.

The 2020 M1 Air used the last intel Air chassis. Apple probably won't bother spending money in making extra new colors for it.
I wasn’t talking about the current air. The new one (which the article talks about) is the one I was saying would be nice to have some new colors.

Apple history told us, that many times (not all the time) they will lower the price of the current M1 MBA to probably 799$ and the M2 Mba will start from 1000$ and this way....Apple will also make more money since the M1 will perform well even in 3 years from now

My guess would be $899 for the existing model, with the new model going for $1099 and up.

I think why the iMac hasn't been as well received, has more to do with the pastel hues than the white bezel.

So how about colourful MacBooks, but in their full vibrant hue?
No pastel shades anywhere.

I have given up on MacBook family, I would rather get a $700 Chromebook that has all the technology I could ask for in a laptop computer and half the price of a MacBook, including access to Linux. I would rather spend $3000 on a Mac Pro mini where I could do some upgrading of the system and have a longer life of the system.

This makes sense - the air for Macbook tries to fill the same niche as the air for iPads. A step up from the basic model.
Makes me think they can return the Macbook at some discounted price. Seems a bit less confusing.

Meanwhile people will whine about Prosser being a bad leaker.
Not to defend the guy, but he's been spot on quite a few things lately.

The colorful iMacs and the look of the AirTag were the most notable ones.

Pending to be confirmed :
- The 3D model of the iPhone 13
- Concept images from the upcoming Mac Mini (I've seen a CAD file yesterday on Twitter which looked quite a lot like what he showed us 2 months ago)
- Concept images from the upcoming MBA

Only time will tell, but I do believe his images are pretty accurate.
Hey we found Prosser's Macrumors account.

And hopefully they'll drop the wedge shaped profile of the body, just go to a simple uniform thickness like all other MacBooks. There's no benefit to having the body taper down towards the keyboard, just because you can.
This is the one thing I hope they don't do. The wedge shape of the MBA makes it much more comfortable to work on for people like me who forget to raise their wrists.

I would love it if they returned to the pre-Air paradigm from the late 2000s: just a MacBook and a MacBook Pro. Though they tried this once already, lol…too bad the Intel chip in the 2015 MacBook held it back so badly.
