Oh well, time to switch to Windows I guess! 4 years is a bit long to not release a laptop that works.

rumors have been trash this year. They hype people up for views and retweets. All of the videos saying what to expect from a october keynote all for views and ad revenue.

I always liked watching everythingapplepro but he been on the forefront of hyping things up that aren't happening. stopped watching his videos this year because of it

Just chill out guys. The 2019 keyboard has ZERO epidemic issues. We remember how things turn out when Apple fixed a keyboard without a problem last time...I would stick with the 2019 version even if they release a new one.

Yep. I had a 2018 13" and now have a 2019 15". The only keyboard issue I've seen was that on the 2018 13" the paint started coming off the left CMD key. Other than that, the keys have been fine.

I am, I switched, as Apple's inability to provide a durable keyboard (among other issues) at a fair price drove me away. Windows is solid, stable, fast and has more apps available. Its a win win ;)

That's great. To each their own.

Probably “still not thin enough”
I think in all seriousness, Apple seems to moving away from the "the thin at all cost" mentality. Maybe its Ive's departure, maybe its a realization of the thought "too much of a good thing" Either way, we are seeing iPhones not being marketed as paper-thin, and I think making the MBP a few millimeters thicker will be helpful

You will have to wait for the "Macbook Pro Max" for that
MacBook Pro Max Plus, you mean :p

I always figured Apple would stick to their typical 4-year product cycle for MacBook Pros. But this does suck!

2004->2008->2012->2016
That makes sense, and for me, it didn't make sense to roll out new MBPs this past summer only to introduce a model that will invariably cannibalize that model line.

Like many I was convinced one was coming yesterday. I'm desperate for some new computers but I'm not paying £3.5k for a laptop with a keyboard that is odds on likely to fail at some point. So I guess I'll have to continue to hang on. Perhaps it will come with the new Mac Pro ? These days using Apple computers seems to be turning into an exercise of expensive compromise and frustration.

Did anyone really think Apple was going to release a 16" model without an event? Why on earth would anyone think that? They are going to want to talk about the screen and how great it is, along with the redesigned keyboard and updated specs. I just don't see how anyone would think that Apple would release newly designed MacBook Pro without an announcement, it makes absolutely zero sense.

The only change to the screen will likely be smaller bezels. And the only change to the body will be a new keyboard mechanism. There is nothing dramatic here

I really wouldn’t call this a redesign. I think most of the hardware, ports, etc. are going to be the same.

Most of the reason that the 2016 MBP had a keynote was because of the Touch Bar. There is no revolutionary innovation on this rumored model.

A press release is entirely reasonable.

Just give it a year and your keyboard will type multiple letters when a key is pressed once too...

I would probably only upgrade my Macs when Apple dropped support of them from macOS. Currently my oldest one is a 2013 15” MacBook Pro, and it still performs great for my needs. Glad that I would skip the whole butterfly keyboard generation.

Does it?

This is a spec bump. The chassis is exactly the same as the current 15" model.

Didn't we learn by this week's announcement of the new AirPods? You could call that a new design with added features and it came with a press release.

It makes a lot of sense that the new 16" MBP would drop this month with just a press release and add to the current MBP product page as a larger size selection.

This 16" model is not revolutionary. It's a tiny evolution over what we already have available. A larger screen, speed and (hopefully) RAM upgrade.

Of course, as I usual, I have to add that none of us know. This is all speculation.

Remember about two months ago when I warned all of you about sucking from the Kuo rumour teet? Here we are...

He got some stuff right 8 years ago. Now he's a mixed bag. And all of you waiting on that 16"… guess what?

You know that developers actually found an image of the 16" MacBook Pro in one of Catalina's Beta's, right? It was supposed to be released, but Apple changed direction at the last moment. He is making really good predictions based on inside info that he has and he is mostly right. Would you rather have him say nothing, because Apple could always decide to not release something?

I'd like to know if Drumcat is receiving information directly from Apple. Seems he knows something the rest of us don't -- doesn't it?

Well "guess what"? Nobody knows. The week isn't over. Those of us who are still anticipating an announcement is just as naive as those of you who keep drilling here that no 16" MBP will happen this year.

Please make Pro mean Pro again. Also, give me a OLED touchscreen option finally!!

My 2014 iMac, 2012 MBP(still rolling along) and my unfortunately new Dell XPS with OLED touchscreen will have to do for now.

Apple plans to introduce a new MacBook model with a scissor switch keyboard in the late second quarter or early third quarter of 2020, according to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, suggesting the notebook could be announced at either WWDC in June or with a press release in July next year.

16-inch MacBook Pro concept by MacRumors

In a research note today for TF International Securities, seen by MacRumors, Kuo said Taiwanese manufacturer Wistron will be the primary supplier of parts for the scissor switch keyboards in 2020.

It is unclear if this represents a delay of the widely rumored 16-inch MacBook Pro, which Kuo said would launch in the fourth quarter of 2019 with a scissor switch keyboard. There was some hope that Apple would announce the 16-inch MacBook Pro with a press release this morning, but that did not happen.

Kuo has previously predicted that Apple will transition its entire notebook lineup to scissor switch keyboards in 2020, including all MacBook Pro and MacBook Air models. The last MacBook Pro to feature scissor switches was released in 2015 before Apple moved to its problematic butterfly mechanism.

I would suspect a "touchscreen" would be more than this spec bump, considered a major revolutionary addition, and in need of a keynote.

I don't think we are there yet.

I'd be interested to see how many people would actually enjoy having a touchscreen MacBook. Personally, it'd drive me crazy having a screen covered in fingerprints all the time and, at least as of now, I can't think of how a touchscreen would help me work (writing code, editing videos, and browsing the web). It's already awkward enough reaching down to the Touch Bar.

Anyway, it's a personal thing so what doesn't work for one will work for another. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I'd like a true convertible, where I could use the pencil but still have MacOS. The Lenovo Yogas are very tempting for this.
