Does anyone here happen to be using the Kuycon G32P with Windows 11 (if so, which connection? HDMI/USB-C/TB4/5/Display Port) and can tell me what scaling the monitor is using? 200% or 250% Or just 150%?

Even though I'm in an Apple forum here, I primarily use Windows because it simply allows me to work faster ;)

@Geneman14 "I changed the DP REV setting in the G32P's OSD to 2.1 and I'm now seeing the HDR option and brightness slider."

So the monitor's HDR mode (with DSC) takes the bandwidth needed beyond HBR3 rates into UHBR rates, which means only the best cables will be suitable.
(And the monitor's OSD DP setting must be the highest.).

Yeah, still don't really get it. Should work from what I understand from your description. My Kuycon display was already set to Auto, and there is no option in Mac Display settings for HDR. Also, the keyboard shortcuts work for the Kuycon brightness but no slider, like what was showing in your picture. Thunderbolt 4 to Thunderbolt 5 shouldn't make that different for this application from my understanding.
I changed the DP REV setting in the G32P's OSD to 2.1. That fixed it for me.

Note that people here are buying via Click Clack or Alibaba. See the links in the 6K WikiPost.

If by “their site” you mean Kuycon.us or Kuycon.co, those sites are not actually Kuycon sites (Kuycon does not have a website, even in Chinese). See Post #197 above.
Yes thank you, I’m with the hip kids now! I think I’m going to order one today. Heck, throw the light bar in too, and I’ll make a Tic Tac account! Thanks for all the info!

I personally don't have this monitor but from my experience with Windows you can set whatever scaling you want (of course, within some range). By default it should be 200%, I suppose.

I think you will be right that a scaling of 200% will continue to be the most suitable, because the PPI value (I also have 200% on my Apple Studio displays) remains constant. Thanks for your answer though :)

Not sure if I’m missing something… The only option I see similar to this is "DP VER" not "DP REV" in the OSD menu. It was on 1.4 and I changed it to 2.1 and this didn't make any change... strange… Using Thunderbolt 4 cable.

Sorry, yes it is "DP Ver".

Have you tried the HDMI cable?

I have not tried HDMI. I did see that when I put the resolution all the way down to 1080P, I was given the option for 120Hz and then the HDR setting appeared. I just ordered a TB5 cable... I'm going to try that tomorrow and see if that works.

I don’t think the M1 Max has HDMI support for 6K, but the the TB4 ports should.
The Pro XDR display is a TB monitor so can manage 6K HDR with a special Apple mode.
If your TB4 cable is a long one (1.8/2m) then it would quite likely have to be an Apple one to have enough bandwidth.
(Even then it might not work…).

Hopefully a shorter TB5 cable will work. 👍

Thanks for helping. I did try HDMI just now, and you are right, it was not capable of 6k from my M1 Max. I also ordered a 2.1 DisplayPort to USB-C cable... I'm going to try them both tomorrow and see if anything changes.

M1 Max has HDMI 2.0 which supports no more than 4K60.
M2 Pro, M2 Max and newer chips have HDMI 2.1 which can work with resolutions up to 8K60 (with DSC).
DisplayPort 2.1 (which supports up to 80Gbit) was added just recently - in M4 Pro and M4 Max.

All Macs on Apple Silicon support DisplayPort 1.4 + DSC (for M4 Pro and M4 Max - DP2.1 as stated above) and its bandwidth should be enough for 6K60 with HDR as proved by Apple XDR and Dell 6K displays.
So, this is an interesting question - why doesn't HDR work with DP1.4 in the Kuycon monitor.

As I know, some time ago there was an issue in macOS where maximum resolution for HDR was limited at 6016×3384 (exact Apple XDR display's resolution) for DisplayPort 1.4 (but not for HDMI 2.1). Users of Dell 6K monitor were forced to use "hacks" with BetterDisplay to set that slightly lower resolution. Eventually this bug was fixed in Sonoma 14.1
Might it be that this bug came back at some point in the recent past? I don't know...

Ordered 2, travelled as a pair shenzen-anchorage-Memphis-Paris CDG. One arrived today, the other still in Paris supposedly and not left on the transit which would bring it to the UK.

Fuming at fedex, bet they have lost it.

I am genuinely surprised as I can't work out how a logistics operation could think its sensible to send a driver to exactly the same house 2 days in a row
Yeah, that's ridiculous. It looks like your packages went around the globe in the opposite direction to mine! Mine went China/Bangalore/Cologne/Paris/Stansted.

Fingers crossed it turns up soon.

Arrived

Beautiful 😍

Hate having 2 cables so probably going to have to upgrade to a TB5 dock to get full res. Currently they run at about half res, something around 3k horizontal

Not yet done a pixel check. Lovely pieces of kit, glad I upgraded

Update and question: What resolution are you seeing once you changed to 2.1 and have HDR on? I'm very curious to hear what your resolution is on your DP Ver at 2.1 with HDR on.

I received my TB5 cable this morning. While experimenting, I noticed if I changed the DP Ver to 1.2, I gain HDR, but proper default scaling no longer exists, and the closest resolution I can get to proper resolution is 3008 × 1692. If I change DP Ver back to 1.4 or 2.1, I see the max resolution all the way up to 6K and proper scaled resolution to exactly half... 3072 × 1728. I also ordered a USB-C to DP 2.1 cable, so I'll test that out later today.
