Received, today, at my doorstep.

Right-beastie of a package (and about as battered as any intercontinental creature has ever appeared to be). Initial inspection reveals an inner-package that appears to be entirely intact!

No signature required.

I did not anticipate any Porch-Pirates, as this is a relatively-benign neighbourhood; and, the 'package' looks like it's a bog-standard Ikea end-table.

The Reveal will be in a few-more days, as I am currently teaching multiple kiddos on-the-daily, and elbow-deep into the Exceptional Child course for my MAT....

I recorded a 32min unboxing vid (which I will not upload here).

The unit arrived intact, assembled easily, and powered-on.

I connected it to my M4 Macbook Air with a Cable Matters TB5 cable, and it's beautiful.

The reflectivity is pretty minimal. Not as good as the P2715Q's matte screen, but it puts my 55" LG to shame. Pretty much the same as my Macbook Air.

Quality build structure, and really nice functionality (I forgot to being my CR2032's from School, so I haven't explored the Menu yet).

The stand is strong, and allows for a wide-range of positioning. I do notice that the front glass has a sub-sub-mm gap on the bottom-right. Screen uniformity is extremely even, and there are no dead pixels.

All-in-all, I am extremely pleased, and will eventually purchase another.

@splifingate And do you get the HDR option?
Your image shows a doesn't seem quite as well defined as a normal 10 bit RGB signal?
Maybe running at a reduced colour bit rate (YCbCr)?

Edited after further analysis.

Your image shows a normal 10 bit RGB signal.

I do not see a HDR option when the G32P is connected via TB from the Air.

Will move the G32P to the Studio sometime this week, where I can see what the HDMI connection is like.

I will also (then) connect it to the EPYC system (Ubuntu, Arch, et al.).

@splifingate
This is the image I get with my DIY 5K monitor (ex iMac Pro), which does have an HDR option available.
This shows a proper full bandwidth 10 bit RGB signal.

As you can see I get the full display of the blue lines and bottom two colours, with every one of the pipe (vertical line) symbol showing well.
According to RTings webpage, your monitor appears to be running at YCbCr (YUV) 4.2.2 which is a reduced bandwidth rate.

Since other people get the HDR option, running at full bandwidth RGB is possible, but just needs the right cabling etc.

When you get your remote control working, before your spend too much time configuring the settings, can you go to the last (bottom) page and check if there is a Factory (or Reset) option.

On this page on my monitor as well as a reset button there is a page full of details of the mode all the settings of the monitor is working at.

It’s normally pretty much hidden at the end, so easy to overlook. 😉

Of course Kuycon could have not included any info like this.

Found a CR2032, and was able to get into the Menus.

Interesting find:

Users can switch between 40G and 80G for USB-C, and switch DSC On/Off.

In the OSD I only see:

Reset > Reset
Reset > Auto Power Down

The OSD does show USB-C 6144x3456/60Hz HDR/Off OD/Off DSC/Off, and HW/FW/etc.

I will be trying HDMI in the near future...

@splifingate If the DSC setting is Off, then you will be using the full bandwidth of TB3/4 for SDR, indeed you may be exceeding it, which is why it’s running YCbCr 4.2.2.

You need DSC to be On for HDR…

This the rtings image displayed on the screen at 6144x3456, DSC Off, and shot with my iPhone 13-Mini

When I open the rtings image in FFx at full rez, it's really small (5-11/16" x 3-3/16"). Is the correct viewing aspect?

Also, which browser should I be using?

I only open Safari/Chrome on my Macs to test web code.

The 13-Mini doesn't have the greatest camera....

Thanks for the report. This is fairly tempting, my other Mac Pro is using a 4K Dell screen which is quite poor. I'm looking at replacing that either with the Dell 6K, this Kuycon or finding a pre-loved Apple XDR at a good price.

@splifingate The RTings photo I posted above (#481)was also taken with a 13 mini. 😃
I used Safari, but ideally it should be downloaded and opened in Preview.

The image is really small at the correct 100% size.
If you look at the blue on black text line I get a better representation than your photo shows, so you need to get DSC On to improve the image quality.

improve the image quality

I've been rockin' c.2015-ish matte 4K's for over a decade, and I've never really had a problem with my imaging.

With the G32P, I am really finding nothing to improve :)

I spent a good bit of time assessing the nano-display when I was in the process of getting an M4 iPad late last year, and the deliberation between all the modalities really made my brain hurt. I really didn't need to step-up to the nano, which was predicated by choosing the increased storage capacity.

I really didn't notice much of a difference between nano vs. non-nano. What I see with the G32P is quite close to what I remember in my nano analysis.

What I received in the acquisition of the G32P is (to me) phenomenal. Would I choose a 32" display housing the dual-layer OLED of my M4 iPad, but with the nano coating? Yes!

All-in-all, I'm sufficiently impressed with the imaging of this device, and will purchase another next week. I can now finally achieve the nerdvana of having something exceeding the seminal Al Gore multiple Cinema Display photo (albeit in a vertical orientation):

My M4 Macbook Air seems a little skittish after the connection, and we still have a lot to talk about. My ultimate intent is to hook this (and another) to the M2 Max Studio.

It was a long-dark-teatime waiting for this unit, yet well-received.

We're barely five hours into power-on, so I can't share a longevity report.

She is warm-ish in all the right areas, and extremely performant.

*cough*

Great first date ;)

How on earth does he find anything there in that mess. I suppose organised chaos but damn! ;)

I have used three of those 30" ACD displays with my 6,1 Mac Pro, only as a test. They were very efficient room heaters as well.

At the moment my normal screen setup is LG Ultrafine 5K and the Apple Studio Display 5K with the tilt and height adjust stand (glossy finish) on the main Mac Pro 7,1, and the other (with the dual W6800X Duos) is the backup for when more GPU power is needed.

Supposedly I should be able to connect 10 XDR Displays to that Mac Pro. ;) If someone can spare some coins I will be glad to test that functionality just to be certain.

Got it !
Import taxes to Belgium from FedEx 109€. Screen paid 1436€ so 1546€ total.

Plug and play, absolutely beautiful, no dead pixel that I can see. Huge upgrade from my 24’ Cinema Led Display !! Aluminium quality I would say is 90/100 I’ve two very very faint and small scratches on the stand and some bit of plastic film stuck in the holes behind, no glue marks anywhere.

I don’t have a battery for the remote to scroll into the menus but can’t think about anything to change for my usage anyway.

The glare/reflection is better than my Cinema Led Display, if it’s a big problem for you I recommend to have no direct lights behind you cause you’ll def see them.
It’s barely getting hot compared to my old screen which is nice!

Really appreciate all the accessories in the box even 2 USB AtoC adapters.

I'm glad your Kuycon G32P arrived in perfect condition :) My question is more about where you set it up. Have you ever had any problems with placing the monitor in front of the window? I remember hearing from occupational safety experts that this is one of the worst things you can do to your eyes when you're looking at a monitor with a bright window behind it.

And I'm also surprised that the Apple Cinema Display is supposed to have been even more reflective? I must have been really happy when I bought the Dell UP 2715K back then, which was also glossy, but apparently had an extremely good glossy finish.

yes I’ve heard that about the window but tbh I’m living in Belgium and it’s not on the bright side of the building so never had any troubles hahah

I meant to compare the reflection not the glossy my bad, on the Cinema Led you can really tell it’s glass in front and the panel after, on the Kuycon the panel looks way closer to the glass which is more modern/elegant looking. Also maybe the fact that the blacks are wayyyy better on the kuycon is making a difference

Ah, now I understand what you meant. Yes, it may well be that the Cinema Display (due to its age) was not yet designed in such a way that the glass front could be fitted very close to the panel. Unfortunately, I never had the opportunity to test the Cinema Display extensively, but only to examine it at a MediaMarkt store.
