They had 7300GT in the first Mac Pros, so it's not the first time.
Well the 7300GT was actually kind of under-appreciated since it was actually based off the same core as the 7600 series just with 8 PS instead of 12PS, but retained the 128-bit memory interface. It wasn't related to it's 7300GS family member which used a different core with only 4PS and 64-bit memory bus. The 7300GT competed against the X1600Pro, since ATI's mid-range was underperforming then, so the 7300GT was technically an entry-level mid-range card.

The GT120 has no such allusions and would definitely be low-end.

Totally agree, nerdish needs to check his set-up.

I have American, English and Swedish keyboards in use in my office.

It really depends on the age of the keyboard as to what the Shift-4 does.

On my new Swedish iMac:
Shift 4 = €
Alt 4 = $

new English/UK boards have the € as well instead of the GBP sign.

so I guess the UK has been phased out ... lol

I knew this would happen. Waited months for a new iMac, decided to go and buy a Macbook instead. I got it on the 18th of Feb, I've opened it, but still have all the original packaging? What are my options to return it?

I am pretty sure I read an article 2 weeks ago saying Intel opted not to produce those and instead went for a die shrink straight to 32nm
I think he's referring to current gen Penryn quad cores. You are referring to Nehalem dual cores which were cancelled in favour of 32nm Westmere dual cores with IGPs.

I see, that makes sense then.

At least Apple's using a "current" GPU.

They usually know just as much as we do... I imagine they're all sat in the offices out back doing the exact same thing as we are!!!

Yeah, this is quite accurate actually. The people who work at Apple stores know nothing about product releases. They usually sit in the back, refreshing MacRumors and Apple.com -- no joke. I wouldn't be surprised if some of the people reading this forum are Apple folks, hoping that Apple releases something while they're still on their lunch break.

cup of tea?

I want a fast new mac mini with 3GB of RAM. My credit card is placed on my desk in front of my keyboard desiring to be used.

You sure about that? I don't think they use mobile processors

The poster was right, the iMacs use mobile processors. And although there are not yet any Quad Core mobile CPUs available from Intel, Apple could put an SMP board with two Dual Core CPUs into the iMac.
