Apple-iPhone-4-CDMA-181.jpg

Remember when Apple made sleek and attractive phones? I don't even mind the standard X or XR design, but these new 2019 iPhones are an extreme break from the quality we have seen in past years.

The glass back on the iPhone 4 made it thicker than necessary. To me, the pinnacle of design was the iPhone 5 with the chamfered edges.

A13 and bump up to 1080p screen would work for me.

A13 will not be noticed in real-world usage, even the A8 was doing a great job at it, RAM was what was needed. 1080p screen on the XR would be nice, however also not needed as battery life will take a hit.

What both lines need is a smaller notch, no more camera bump, larger battery and two forward firing stereo speakers. Plus the added bonus of FaceID unlocking in any direction and the imaging processing to be on par if not better than Google Pixel 3 phones (can be done via software).

Though none of these things will have me drop another $1k on an iPhone this year.

If it’s only two lenses why use the square bump? Doesn’t really make sense. Just use what’s on the other dual lense phones.

I actually like it, almost every Android oem copied the iPhone X design and camera arrangement for the last two years.

Looks like apple 11r and 11 are getting some serious camera upgrades.

The 11r Doesn’t look like anything else on the market, and the renders are a bit rough. Can’t wait to see the finished product come fall.

That wouldn’t work for providing more depth in multiple directions, that’s why the triple lens camera will be oriented that way from past renders, not to mention, it will also make more practical sense for VR rendering. The dual wouldn’t probably be able to accomplish the same tasks aligned vertically.
P30 Pro already has a TOF-sensor, located in a triangular shape, so despite looking like a strip, it provides depth measurements. Where I live, it's cheaper than the current XR.

Sad to see Apple going from being the undisputed leaders to playing catch up. They had the expertise but obviously lacked the will after Steve passed.

I own an iPhone X, and I plan to keep it. These rumors don't mention anything that will fundamentally change the usefulness of my device, so I'll pass.

Even if Apple could remove or reduce the size the notch, me thinks they would keep it simply to defend their design decision. At least for another year. Then they'll remove it and spin it as progress and innovation.

They already can reduce the notch, but why pay for software designers to accommodate the different size?

If pricebaba.com says this is what it will look like then you can take that to the bank.
You mean the river bank and throw it in right? Not that I am for polluting freshwater but...seriously why do you think that?

2018 was the year to buy a new phone if you wanted one...
The X was to have at a reasonable price, the XR was just launched, just as the XS Max as the largest iPhone. On the contrary, the SE (formfactor) seems to be dead.

Smartphone engineering is done for now. The only thing that keeps improving is the camera and the computing power.
Both are reasons to upgrade, but neither justifies an upgrade more frequently than every 2-3 years.

Upgrading from a 6 or 6S to the 2018 models yes, from a 7 nope, unless Qi is what you want.

The reason why I like the 2018 models is that the mid-tier line finally received 3GB of RAM and the high-tier got 4GB. More initial storage onboard is nice, however I migrated to the cloud awhile ago and initial growing pain that one learn to appreciate later (similarly to no floppy, optical, etc).

I suspect the 2019 iPad Pro models to all receive 6GB of RAM to differentiate it from the 4GB XS phone.

The 5s with TouchID was the peak, the metal ring even looked good

Just make the damn phone 2mm thicker and get rid of the bump, is it really that hard ?

Tim would miss out on sales of $50 cases

I am aware the notch can be reduced, however at present Apple supports the following screen sizes 4 (SE), 4.7, 5.5, 5.8, 6.1, 6.5, 7.9 (iPad Mini), 9.7, 10.5, 11, 12.9" I don't think Apple sees it as a concern.

Oh instead of making the battery thicker and the camera flush, release a battery case solution and claim it protects the back and provides additional battery life, just plain penny pinching on Tim's part.

Wow, I was thinking - let Apple make ugly with the square camera bump on the follow on's to the Xs and Xs Max - at least the Xr won't be so hideous (cause even if they went to 2 cameras they could just use the existing 2 camera line they have on the Xs etc.).

But this is really, really ugly. Guessing its too late - but Apple for the love of god push the rest of the back up to be even with the top of the bump and throw in extra battery capacity. This is so ugly it will cost you sales, just when you don't need to shoot your sales in the foot.

Dumber, uglier and wouldn't be surprised if it's costlier than last year.

Even the cheapest android phones have gotten rid of those ridiculous side bezels. This phone looks cartoonish and dated.
