This is nonsense. Android alone ruins the experience of those and Apple still uses industry leading silicon, as one example.

The cameras, display accuracy, service, support, materials, etc are all leading or among leaders. Acting like the competition slaughters the iPhone in every area is just not true.

My guess is that Apple knows how bad the square looks, and they didn't want people choosing the Xr over the Xs for that reason alone.

I'm still using a 7 and was planning to upgrade this year, but I'm inclined at this point to make it last yet another year.

This is not true. Depth is determined by the difference in distance between the two lenses. It's exactly how we see using our eyes; stereoscopic. The orientation doesn't matter since the distance ratios will still be the same. Turning your head sideways doesn't inhibit your ability to perceive depth. We can't know what Apple's rumored triple lens config is for because we don't know what lenses it will contain. So saying it's because of depth sensing or VR (uh, what?) doesn't make sense. What Apple might bring could affect those things but claiming the lens orientation materially affects, well anything, is simply guessing.

I would guess that Apple has around 2 years before that notch starts to look really out of place compared with the competition.

And that screen... with those bezels. It is just embarrassing at that price point. I hope Apple improves something about it.

Agreed. I had a 256GB on order but when Apple couldn't deliver for months I tried something else. These new renders isn't exactly making me regret my decision.

Problem right there those phones run android and for a lot that is why people will not switch.

I’ve stopped buying. Reusing other people’s mobiles is my focus now. Said bye to Apple sales like years ago when they ignored small devices.

No (low power) 5G = no sale. I'll just wait with my 7 Plus until 2020.

Hopefully Qualcomm's 5G phone chips will support 600 MHz for those of on Rogers in Canada, and those of you on T-Mobile in the US.

As for the screen, the XR's screen looks fine if you're used to the iPhone 6-8 line. I would have preferred a higher pixel density though, like my 7 Plus.

1st opinions of the 3a said the screen edges were a bit “jarring”, compared to the XR clean edge blending.

I haven’t seen all of the cheapest Android phones obviously... but, my friend did recently get the LG Stylo 4- the screen doesn’t look better than my XR. The XR absolutely did not look dated nor cartoonish next to it

Same here. Was trying to put my finger on it - but they no longer look stylish (with these huge airbag bumps) for a top end smartphone like this, which is a huge thing to loose for top end kit. Guessing it'll affect sales (if you and I are any indication), especially with young, spending and trendy (social media will be vicious with this ugliness). Could be a jump the shark design moment for the iPhone (this and the follow on Xs's) and I really don't want that.

Apple do you just want your sales numbers to decline more? Cause this is how you get your sales numbers to decline more....

How would a case work with that lens set up? This render should be way off but you just can't tell with Apple these days.
