As I was mentioning to that member, if you use the camera orientation that the iPhone XS offers, it doesn’t/can’t provide a good depth, which is why it needs an X-axis cross pattern for a greater depth for VR rendering, which I suspect will be one of the things Apple will discuss for the tri-lens camera in the fall. As far as pixel implementation, I’m not familiar with that.

Why would the tri camera provide more depth?

There is one direction to provide depth within. Thus having it layed out differently doesn't improve it.

Cook philosophy is the bigger the bump the higher the price. :D

Which was convincingly proven by google yesterday to be a complete fallacy! It’s only Apples greedy bottom line and that prevents them from using an OLED screen..

Anyway that square does look a bit daft, still shouldn’t complain the XR will be getting dual lens cameras. Let’s hope they don’t ‘bump’ the price up to compensate too eh, I mean this IS Apple...
The Pixel doesn't have the best displays. Both Samsung and Apple have better displays.

Think this looks awkward? Just wait till we see the 2020 model (and 2021, 2022, etc). From a purely asthetic point of view, iPhones have grown more Frankensteinish since the 5 series.

If we judged iPhone design based on MR posters’ comments, every design since the 2 was a major step back. I guess you don’t remember how the 5 was shredded by MR posters for its poor, ill-thought-out, ugly as sin design.

As much as we hate this camera set up on the “R” model and the supposed leaked camera on the iPhone XI, this will stand out and everyone will know this is an iPhone. I think that’s what Apple is trying to achieve.

What do you base that statement on? It's completely false.

Could be so simple and easy... doh

And guess what?!? You'll probably see a 30-50% improvement to battery life due to the slightly thicker size as well!

My last request would be to do a hole-punch style opening for the sensors in the front. No notch, no bump!

NOPE! Not allowed. Even though more battery life would be welcome, Jony refuses to not be the thinnest iPhone ever for .... I honestly don't know. Reasons I guess? What is this unwanted fixation with thin? Does Jony feel fat?

I would understand that previous comment as a not to take literally argument just like I did when you compared a 200 USD device to the XR.

Yeah, but if it pleases you that the cheapest of all Android devices (not that I would bother to know all of them) can't beat the XR on one feature be happy.

To be extremely clear: I believe that there are zero features on any $200 Android that beat the XR. Even the $400 Pixel 3a only has it on low-light photos, near as I can tell.
Further, I think the screen on the XR is amazing & highly doubt that cheap (say sub $200) Android phones have a better screen... unlike the claim by the OP that all cheap Androids have nicer (with regards to bezels) screens.
That’s literally the only spec he mentioned & I responded to- so your whole bizarre “if it makes you happy that one feature is better” comment has me bewildered.

I would need to see it with my own eyes before passing judgment because I don’t find Samsung to be the beat, over saturated is how I describe them usually.
It is nothing but a fallacy to claim OLEDS are so expensive they are only able to be on the highest of high end phones... created to warrant the ridiculously high pricing with your customers, and a massive boost to the profit margin of each device. IMO
I have an XR, I like the screen mostly that’s on it, but I would love an OLED and their is no reason but forced model separation and excuse for increased RRP as to why Apple can’t put a 1080P OLED on the XR.
I believe this to help believe the XR in 2020 will have an OLED screen.

I am sure I am not alone in this; but, who cares about the camera at this point. It started taking amazing pictures a few releases ago. This is all they got?

I agree with this. It's the same thing over and over. Apple needs to innovate a bit more. I am bored with the iPhone. By 2019 release, the awful notch should be a horrible memory.

How much longer can they get away with zero improvements and higher prices?
Not as easy anymore with OnePlus 7 Pro, Huawei P30 etc just beating the cr@p out of it...

Exactly what I was thinking, you see all these manufacturers releasing phones with super cameras, bezel-less/notch-less, underscreen fingerprint, customizable OS, large battery life... and Apple is just so slow in incremental updates, they even took years to give a semi-decent base storage capacity.

Watch bands, emojis and "commitment to privacy" is not going to cut it any longer, especially if they keep increasing the price tag.

No glass backs or bumps.
Thicker body with bigger battery to eliminate the bump.
Maybe even a little protruding edge on the front edges so cracked screen are minimized!
Would be a perfect case-less phone.

O yea, and iPhone SE size with full front screen!

I'm telling you, apple must be laughing right now at this monstrosity

Glad they are continuing to improve the XR. A real improvement, however, would come from lowering the price by $100-$150, especially in light of the recent offerings by Samsung, OnePlus, and Google. The XR needs to be a $600-$750 max phone.

This is fake as hell and has ZERO chances of becoming reality.
Apple already has a smaller and more beautiful design for 2 cameras + 1 flash in the current phones.

What do you base that statement on? It's completely false.

Could you explain how it’s completely false? Maybe that would be more suggestive if you can elaborate specifically what you’re saying versus what I am saying.

Just use the iPhone X(S) bump design instead?
I agree

My thoughts on this is, the XS/Max will still be in the lineup and apple needs to distinguish those devices, from a design perspective.

Good design? well that’s up to the person. I think it’s a lot of wasted space. But it quickly tells the consumer “this is the new 2019 iPhone design with new cameras” and doesn’t look like the XS is they know it’s not the last gen device

I wonder how the lineup will look this year...or if apple will simply replace the products at price points as they did last year with the XS replacing the X, or will they go even more premium?
