Latest Report Claims All New iPhone Models Facing Production Delays

Does it matter if it launches in September or December as long as it launches? No one needs it in September.

That's true, no one NEEDS it. But, for example, I usually wait til xmas or right after. All the hype has died down. The phone has been out for almost 4 months, so when I go to get it
They are always in stock.
They have the model & size I want
I know if it's worth buying or waiting until next version since it's been out awhile.
If it doesn't come out till December that screws my whole system. Also, why would the LCD version be 2 months behind. The whole theory of it being delayed is related to the OLED screen and software issues with touch i.d. or face recognition. Which are only issues because of OLED screen, they shouldn't have them in the LCD phones.

I'm in a particular bind because I am currently on a iPhone 6 and it's on it's last legs as i smashed the glass and every month the unit gets worse and worse. I'm trying to hold out until this fall but even my damn headphone jack is falling now. Not sure if I'll go for the top of the line 8...i just want to get the updated 4.7" model.

If you're on the iPhone Upgrade Program and got the iPhone 7/7 Plus when it came out then yeah it's kind of beneficial to get it in September. Otherwise you're needlessly spending more money on the 7.

no one has any money or the will to spend money they don't have in Jan, Feb when they are paying off the holiday bills.

#1 - Does that really apply to something like a phone, where almost everyone gets it with 0 down and monthly payments for a year or three?
#2 - People end up with significant holiday bills? Maybe it's just me, but I spend far more on trips and vacations from ~March through ~September than I do during the holiday season.

come one this happens every year... let's not be ridiculous. There were years in the past that they re-did a load of compments much closer to the release date than know and still shipped.

With all these issues with the new iPhones, I wouldn't touch one of these things until sometime next year. I have the new 10.5" iPad Pro and that thing locks up couple of times a week. Just plain buggy. Apple doesn't have a clue. Imagine how buggy the new iPhones might be.

This is fine. I am fine. There is no hurry.

That being said, I'd be really surprised if things slip beyond October. I'll also be really irritated if that means my yearly iPhone Upgrade Program gets shifted to later in the year for whatever 2018 brings. I don't mind waiting for a new model, but I do mind waiting months after a new model comes out to upgrade.

Too thin. You'd have to slide your finger over it without accidentally pressing it.

I think sliding would be too much of a downgrade. Would much rather have the current type on the rear, personally.
not really sliding but just by pressing the on/off button it reads the finger print and unlocks (i believe xperia does the same thing)

What happened to Tim Cook being the 'supply chain God'?

What happened to not believing unsubstantiated rumors?

I can't wait to see the list of analysts who got this one wrong come September. Gruber will just add them to the list of "Claim Chowder"

As I stared reading this latest, I was thinking "same reporting every year. Sky is falling. Tho this year's 'delay' reporting does seem uncharacteristically high... And the lack of parts leaks... Hmmm..."

I'll say it again: the September keynote will go off without a hitch. The 8 will be the nod-to-Steve "one more thing," gorgeous videos will be shared, devices demoed, salivary glands awoken, pre ordering available a week after keynote, with devices shipping (albeit in trickle) late Nov./early Dec. With bulk orders not delivering until Jan.

But... the device will be the typical Apple "must have." 1st major form factor change in a few iterations. And once our deliveries DO arrive, we'll be all grins. Between preordering and deliveries, you can expect THE most intense "shipping, tracking, which plane has my device, fire Tim" threads we've ever seen. It will dominate the World Wide Web. Buckle up.

Omg all these dam iphone rumours has actually made me not care about it anymore so much hype for something no one knows about
If you don't want to see iPhone rumors/contribute to the hype, than why are you here...

But to your point, this is all bull ****. No one knows anything about this phone. I sincerely think Apple doubled down on security and is just feeding bs news into the rumor mill to throw people off. Either that, or the normal analysts (like Ming Chi suck 'em soft) have no idea what's going on, so they're just creating rumors to maintain the appearance that they have a clue.

I don't think anyone is looking forward to an iphone 7s lineup. Iterative designs are not going to sell. The newly designed iPhone 8 on the other hand from rumours will move like greased lightning.

The S variant needs to be the rumour that doesn't happen imo. Having three designs is just not a good choice, sure less retooling but people won't do 4 years of this old design and the new one is cutting edge. All apple buyers can afford the same device if apple only put all its eggs in the new basket. Splitting it up again is only going to add to the production costs of the new design. I hope I'm wrong.

The courts could block imports of the iPhone, now that Apple is conspiring to prevent payments of contracted royalties to Qualcomm. For some reason Apple thinks patent laws don't apply to Apple suppliers. Yes Apple can thrash Qualcomm and ruin its business with illegal tactics, but Apple will pay heavily in civil court.

. . . . They should drop their insistence on clockwork release cycles. Just release the new hardware when it's ready. They used to do that.

This is an excellent point. Scrap this release every June (for the original iPhones) or every September for the more recent models.

Make the best product you can at the price point and release it when ready.

That said, with the market for the iPhone X already hyped up and ready for a spectacular September reveal, if they do delay it, then it'd better be fully featured.

I do understand Apple's difficulty though. With the iPhone accounting for a massive 2/3rds of their revenue, or thereabouts, it's tempting to release new models on a 12 month schedule to get that huge revenue boost each year. Not to mention the pressure from the mobile carriers.

However, I've said before on here, speaking as a customer rather than an investor / analyst, I think they should delay and get it right at launch.

1. Yes. People get spending fatigue after the holidays. Doesn't matter how good the deals are they are tired of gorging. It may be $0 down but it's still spending and no doubt the monthly payments on the iPhone 8 will be 10-20% more than their current phone.
2. Yes, you are in the minority.

I don't NEED one, no. But I pay a premium to update my phone every 12 months. So every month after September I'm paying for my old phone what I could be paying for a new one. Free money for Apple.
