That's just not the way the system works. Returning the phone won't cause them to make any change whatsoever unless there are more returns than sales. If 40% of users have a problem with something, that's still a huge number... but 60% still make them a profit. All returning the item does is leave you without a phone.

Your right. Lawsuits all around!

That was my point. IF the majority returned them it WOULD make a difference. Will it happen? no. However thats because of laziness not because of the "system"

THIS IS THE MOST GODDAMN RETARDED THING I'VE EVER HEARD.

Everyone, and I mean EVERYONE that owns an iPhone 4 is within the return policy.

If the phone doesn't work, return the damn thing and get your money back.

Case closed.

not possible. Brainwashing took it's toll.
It's like you would feed those fanboys with coke for few years and then made it super crap.
It's mental addiction. Freaking scary

I haven't seen numbers to indicate that the majority of users are having a problem/expressing enough dissatisfaction with the phone. Seems to be around the 40% mark. Unless 51% of the people are being affected, returning it does no good.

I agree and disagree with this.

Apple needs to be given some time to resolve/address the issue. Addressing the problem and letting the consumer know should happen ASAP. I would think sometime this week would be a nice time frame. However Apple likes to drag it's feet and most times, not give any answers. If they decide NOT to say or do anything, then I think further action is required to force their hand. If a class action lawsuit does the trick, then so be it.

I don't agree with the money hungry lawyers. I would not take any money as a consumer as I would want a fix. If a fix could not be provided, then Apple needs to compensate the consumer or issue a recall. It's that simple.

Again, I think this is a bit early honestly. At least give Apple a week to respond/figure it out.

And the vast majority of Toyota owners wouldn't have noticed their brake issue until it happened to them either. That's stupid logic.

As is the logic that just because you don't see it, it's not a problem. And it's not about losing bars. It's about the fact that if I touch the phone in the lower left during data transfers, it throttles it completely, or if I'm on a call it degrades the quality or simply drops the call. You bury your head in the sand with the other famboys here, but I'm not.

That's a bad comparison. A phone supposedly losing reception as opposed to a car that can have brakes go out. One will kill you, the other is a minor inconvenience. So if people don't notice reception issues or an increased number of dropped calls, then NO, there ISN'T a problem. And that's my point. It's not a problem they can't see, because there isn't a problem if they aren't dropping calling constantly.

Like I said before, if someone can give me an actual comparison of the iPhone 4 vs. other phones and prove that holding the phone a certain way increases the number of dropped calls and that it's only for the iPhone 4, then I'll listen.

Just because YOU don't experience something in one way doesn't mean that's the way it is for everyone else.

...or anyone i know with the phone, who are many.

but i hear you. you are experiencing a serious problem using the iphone 4. ok. return it. or sue them. although what exactly you hope to gain from that is unclear..

i wouldn't dare to say no one is experiencing a problem, but i still say this is a bloody feeding frenzy.

that said, i too am seriously disappointed in steven p jobs' perfunctory, almost rude, response. i think that has done more to fan the flames of this issue than any real technical aspect.

IF YOUR iPhone 4 IS WORKING FINE, READ THIS

Here is what I emailed to the law firm threatening to file this apparently bogus claim against Apple. You may wish to consider doing the same:

I'm not experiencing substantially adverse iPhone 4 reception problems, no matter how I hold my device.

Consider this a notice that I wish to testify against your claim in this case. I request that you notify the court within 30 days of filing your claim that I request to be disposed as a witness against your claim, at your expense. I require you to notify me in writing that you have notified the court of my request, within 30 days of filing your claim.

No wonder the world is in such a state. These people are the lowest form of human being. You know what Shakespeare had to say about them. I concur.

Brilliant!!!!!
I love it.
Get them at their own disgusting game.
These people are leaches on society.

I think that's more the issue than anything else. If he had said "we're sorry about the troubles and are looking to see if there's anything we can do about it," then I don't think there would be nearly the upset. Instead, he basically said "go fend for yourselves." It seems to me that's what people are doing through lawyers.

Did Shakespeare say anything about people who sold faulty product at a exorbitant price?

Ah, so there is no lawsuit at the moment, only a lawfirm trying to see if there's a basis for bringing one.

Finally someone caught on here. I guess everyone discussing a lawsuit can stop now.

Come on Knight, by now you should know not to expect people to actually read and understand an issue here... ;)

Stupid.

Give Apple a chance to resolve this issue.

Me? I haven't had ANY problems at all. I get better signal in most cases. But I realize others have issues and hope Apple comes out with a good fix.

I can't make the signal drop on Edge, but on 3G I can. In most places I go Edge service seems better than before.

GOOD! Apple deserves to have their hand slapped over this. I wish the law firm great success!!

Are these idiots not able to return it? I don't think the phone has been out for 30 days yet.

But you can STILL RETURN THE PHONE. If you are pissed about the quality of the device, return it to the frickin store. Why the heck would you keep something you think is defective? JUST RETURN IT. Nobody forced you to buy it, and nobody is forcing you to keep it.

Thats what I don't get. Why the heck don't the unsatisfied whiners who want to sue just take the damn phone back to the store?? Thats what people do when they buy something they deem is defective! No common sense on some of you.

It's because THIS makes too much sense! :D It's like the whiners have no choice but to keep the phone. RETURN it if it doesn't work the way you expect it. IF Apple fixes it later, then go back and buy one. No need to sue. No need to whine. And despite this (among other iP4 issues), the whiners still will line up and and buy it. Apple is absolutely magical......they can make anybody become LAME.

HAHA I'm sure they will pay you to have you testify against them

These are terrific news. It'll force Apple to solve the issue. Not necessarily because of justice-related matters, but because of the publicity and image part.

Once Apple solves the problem, the lawsuit becomes pointless, and I'll support Apple all the way.

Wow, because your unit is non-defective, you think their claim is bogus ? I think the issue has been documented enough that people should stop claiming it doesn't exist.

It does.

The lawfirm is investigating whether this is lawsuit worthy. This will include Apple's actions about this problem. Don't expect them to file tomorrow, this is something they will investigate for a while and when they do file, it will be because it's going to be a good chance of a win.

Seriously, Apple doesn't need anyone to defend them. They can make this all go away on their own by first acknowledging the problem and issuing the proper recalls/fixes. Secrecy and CEO one-liners aren't helping any here.

Once Apple solves the problem, the lawsuit becomes pointless, and I'll support Apple all the way.

First there needs to be a lawsuit before it can become pointless.

Heh. Yup all it is is a group of ambulance chasers looking for free advertising by riding the hot news story of the day. Talk about a tempest in a teapot.

Until the returns period is over and someone actually proves that apple knowingly sold a product that doesn't work the lawsuit has no standing. Given the fact that 1.7 million phones have been sold through last saturday and who knows how many this week, and given that out of the seemingly 100's of thousands of posts on this topic, of which a very small (but vocal) minority are actually reporting call drops (and I might add not really giving any comparison to how their previous phone worked), I highly doubt that this case will ever have standing.

My experience has been that my iPhone 4 now works inside my living room where my 3G could never hold a call for more than 2 minutes if it even saw a signal... regardless of how I hold it. My wife has had the same experience with hers.

Don't you think that you should write this to apple defense squad?
You just gave the law firm a nice laugh.

And that is why apple sells inferior products. Thanx to fanboys that make morons of themselves. If your device is good then be happy but those that have issues need them fixed. Wonder what would be your tone if your beloved, Godsent, cherished phone wouldn't work as you need it to. Absolute... (i'll skip this part)

Oh God this is just completely and totally pathetic. Utterly pathetic.

Only in America.......... But it really doesn't surprise me when you guy's live in a country where someone is allowed to sue a company because the coffee they brought from them burnt said person whilst they were driving and drinking it :rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

Seriously, your law system is ****ed up!!! How much of your taxes get wasted on this garbage?? In fact you could argue the rest of world wonders if Americans know what common sense actually is??? Not being stereo typical but when you read stuff like this......

The design is flawed, therefore causes a defect in its functionality. Unless your phone is designed differently... you have the same problem.

This is what Jobs gets for his smart ass "Don't hold it that way" comment. Perhaps a class in public relations is in order. I'm also wondering if the signal issue had anything to do with the glitch at the keynote

I can prove that my unit is not defective, and therefore I can prove this is not a mass hardware problem. I will testify against the law firm bringing this claim.
