Just when my image of America was starting to improve with imaginative companies like Apple at the helm this comes along and reminds the rest of the world why we love to pick on her.

I have had it with all these ambulance chasing "law firm” morons.
FREAKIN' IDIOTS! Is this what society has come to?

KCR should be using their resources for other pursuits?
Like lawsuits that they can actually win!
Or they should at least pick fights with companies that no one likes.
Maybe then they would have a chance.
I mean, don’t screw with one of the few companies trying to better life with meaningful technology! (I know kinda corny - but true)
They need to go after crappy companies that suck in creating usable technology... like Microsoft and Dell!

Seriously, KCR would have a better chance of going after BP at this point.
If they’re that hard-up for cash they should try squeezing some money out of them! Everyone else is!

Stupid, stupid, KCR... Do they even realize how ill conceived this attempt is?
As soon as KCR pulls together all their resources and waste a ton of man-hours and money pursuing this, Apple will have released a patch for the iPhone 4.

To those of you complaining about the signal strength please consider the following:
1. Even if you are experiencing a signal loss by holding the phone a certain way, any iPhone is better then an android alternative. period.
2. As Steve Jobs said, "stay tuned”. At this point people, be patient! A software update is inevitable.
3. Lastly, I know it sounds stupid but - hold the phone like a phone. No iPhone swaddling!
Unless you completely engulf your iPhone with your hands and face when you’re talking on it it's not that bad.
I had to cover over 3/4 of the outside antenna of the phone to loose 2-3 bars.
I have at least a dozen friends with iPhone 4 models and they all say the same thing, 'it’s not that bad!’.
Hey, if my 6’8” 384lb buddy Tommy can use an iPhone without suffocating the signal with his bear paw of a hand on the damn thing – so can you!

some of u apple homers are ridiculous. ur response to a design flaw is return it. So yes people return it but apple should not be allowed to continue to sell a fundamentally flawed device to consumers. If this lawsuit is successful, everyone in possession of the defective phone will be "made whole" (monetary compensation and/or flaw will be corrected so the device functions as expected) and more importantly, apple will have to correct the flaw in all future devices before they are sold so unsuspecting consumers arent stuck with a lemon and have to go thru the hassle of returning it.

Apple could easily avoided this if their CEO didnt say dumb stuff like hold it different and there is no reception issue which implies there is no problem with the device. That may require a recall which is bad for the reputation, but thats better than getting sued.

Yes - but early adopters at the cutting edge are buying something much more than "tried and tested".

Ohh my gosh! Why didn't I think of that! Me not posting for a long time in an Apple discussion forum makes my point worthless because im a newbie!

WHY ARE YOU DEFENDING APPLE WHEN THEY ARE IN THE WRONG? You are a FANBOY!

iphone reception and design flaws

What I don't get is the solution to use a bumper to stop signal loss
after the long presentation about the great new iphone design being the leica of phones etc and then saying the solution is to put a cover on the phone so it will pretty much look just like any other iphone

No need to shout.

This is a new design, packing more features into a smaller form while keeping a nod for a dozen other factors from recyclability to user friendliness than the competition.

It has a flaw. On with a simple workaround.

Come back in a month a we will see what fix has been in place.

I want to return my flawed iphone 4

Hello,

I bought the iPhone after MUCH deliberation, wanting an android phone more, but loving the design of the iPhone.

Now it has a design flaw, the mystique of being "beautifully designed" has been destroyed for me, and I want to return it.

Orange UK store tell me that iPhone is THE ONLY phone they carry which CANNOT be returned within the 28 days all stores in the UK are bound to honour as a customer's right to return goods.

I may have to speak to a law company like this one, but I am VERY disappointed in Apple, more for the way they try to control every situation in a freakish manner, than the fact the phone is flawed in design.

Mark, UK.

iphone design

iphone 4 should be ready for the market at least when it comes down to the basics
'Making calls and signal strength'
As far as all the new features growing pains are expected and early adopters know this
I purchased the first iphone on day one and put up with the early adopter issues as it was a totally new product
This iphone is version 4 and it should at least hold a signal to enable proper phone calls
Apple techs had plenty of time to test this
As an apple user for 16 years I expected a little more

Indeed no need to shout, or cry, or pull your hair out. Reading all these posts I am struck by something. I find it hard to believe, that so many 12 year olds can afford iPhones and can find their way to this forum. Most of the posters here seem to have no experience with technology. Whine, moan, swear, cry. Goodness sakes. To paraphrase the bumper stickers so popular years ago, "Love it or leave it" So just leave it at the Apple store. They will be happy to sell it to the next one in line. My iPhone 4 and my wife's work great no matter how we hold them. Tried them every which way. Of course we did get the bumpers. That steel is just to slippery to hold securely for us.

Hi Mark.

Be patient, teething problems are almost always fixed in a month.

It IS beautifully designed - but nothing is perfect

Just because it does a dozen things right doesnt excuse the fact that it has a flaw which makes it unfit for the purpose it is sold to do. even u acknowledge this flaw, and the whole purpose of this lawsuit is to get apple to acknowledge the flaw and fix the problem.

Hands up anyone who thinks they are unaware of the problem...

Now hands up anyone who thinks admitting it is a problem will somehow help them fix it any better....

Hello,

Now it has a design flaw, the mystique of being "beautifully designed" has been destroyed for me, and I want to return it.

I'm sure the survivirs of the Titanic said the same thing when they finally reached New York. The Titanic was after all said to be unsinkable and the "Ship of Dreams" One little design flaw, whether it be the height of the bulkheads dividing the compartments or the type of steel, or most notably the size of the rudder.

The iPhone is not the Titanic, and a few people (in comparison to the 2 million sold) are having a problem. These few people though have the loudest and whiniest voices. I have the iPhone 4 and have not experienced 1 dropped call and get even better reception than I had with the iPhone 3G.

After 5 days with a naked iPhone I did buy a case, not to compensate for the issue being discussed here, but because all my cell phones have always had a case of some sort. It feels just more secure in a case than just it's smooth and slippery nakedness.

In the close to 2 years of owning an iPhone and seeing people with iPhones, almost a hundred a day at one of the nations busiest theme parks, I can safely say that at least 95% of those people have a case on their iPhone. The workaround, for now is to put a case or bumper on the phone, if at least 95% of the people I see with an iPhone have a case on it, what's the big deal in putting a $5-30 case on it. Most are going to do it anyway.

If you are not happy with the product, return it. No one is holding a gun to your head saying you have to keep it. That is why there is a return policy.

Shakespeare said it best...

"Kill all the attorneys" and the people who somehow think lawsuits like this help anything but to make attorneys richer.

DISGUSTING!

-______-

Seriously?

If you don't like the issues with it, return the damn phone! Nobody is forcing you to have it...

That isn't even a legit reason to sue, stupid ass money grubbing lawyers.

I don't care if the lawyers get rich off of this.....i just care that Steve Jobs stops being such an arogant sob and admits he(his company) makes mistakes. I'm tired of Apple acting all high and mighty about everything they do.

Just because it does a dozen things right doesnt excuse the fact that it has a flaw which makes it unfit for the purpose it is sold to do. even u acknowledge this flaw, and the whole purpose of this lawsuit is to get apple to acknowledge the flaw and fix the problem.

Well for starters it doesnt work for YOU. Don't speak for other people on this forum and don't speak for me because we didn't wake up together :D And this lawsuit? It's stupid! Your saying to get apple to acknowledge the issue, Well they have and the phone hasn't even been out for a week yet.

Seems to me like you and others have no patience and you just expect to snap your fingers and for things to be fixed. If you ever designed and built a device you would know that it doesn't happen overnight.

So it seems like the issue at hand for some really isn't the issue with the iPhone people just want apple to issue a statement groveling to them begging for forgiveness. Well that will be the day. Get over it. Your dog skip didn't die its an issue that being fix. And if you can't wait then too bad.
