Why? So the lawyers get rich off of Apple's stockholders? Those costs will ultimately come down to the consumers.

And then if Apple raises the product prices and no one can afford it, perhaps that'll make them think twice before releasing a defective product and calling it a "non-issue". That's how the free market works.

Apple know there is a problem.
They are working out how to fix it

That is all you need to know

The only people getting any benefit from this are these parasites.

Every time I hear of incurable cancers - I am slightly cheered by the fact that these vile specimen are just as likely to get it as anyone else.

"The firm is offering telephone, email, and live chat contact options for customers as it presumably begins looking to launch a class action lawsuit against Apple."

Everyone should call them up and ask them if they just got tired of ambulance chasing.
I'd like to let them know that my reception has improved greatly with the new antenna. Does that mean I get to sue them if Apple has to change the design and I lose that improvement?

Then you should be putting preasure on Apple (the people who can actually fix the problem).

Trying to help someone else get rich is not a great use of your time.

It only took 2 minutes to write the email so I didn't waste much time.

How do I put pressure on Apple? Call customer service and tell them to fix the iPhone 4? I'm sure they will listen to me....

I don't want a free bumper...I want the lawyers to put pressure on Apple to put through a major fix...not a customer service rep offering me a free bumper. I don't like using my phone with a case.

I know. Apple should take lessons from how the Droid is made. Pure perfection.

What do you mean or are you being sarcastic? I don't think Apple should take lessons from anyone, I think if there is a true issue then Apple should fix it and stop telling people to learn how to hold their phones.

On the other hand, in CA it is unlawful to drive while talking on a cell phone to your ear. You must have a hands free device. For CA folk the signal issue is a non-issue so long as they're the driver of a vehicle. :p

Even if I did have a iPhone 4 with the dropped call problem, I would never be a part of this. The law firm is just taking advantage of greedy people and is trying to make a buck against Apple. That might as well be as bad as the issue with the product. If people are having issues, they can return the phone, just as others said. I really hate these law firms with their class action lawsuits against anybody who makes a mistake.

Ah, the legal equivalent of forum trolls. It was only a matter of time.

Dear Steve,

Send a free bumper case (that costs you $2 to make) to every iPhone 4 buyer. Not a big deal.

Sincerely,

Us

The lawyers are not interested in getting the problem fixed. They're interested in getting money for themselves.

Things like customer complaints and WSJ articles are what put pressure on Apple to fix the problem. Those things are already happening. Giving money to some lawyer is not going to help you in any way.

It hasn't even been out for a ****ing week. For an issue like this, a lawsuit is just stupid. Give Apple more time.

We all know the internet is making this issue bigger than it should be. Plus Gawker media, Google and Adobe all are trying anything they can to get back at Apple.

Seriously....I wish you attorneys, and anyone who signs up all the worst. Thank you for ruining the moral fiber of America. People, this is the cost of being an early adopter. Besides, more than likely, Apple will have a software upgrade in short order that will eliminate this problem. And those of you that think you will "get something" out of this, please; you will get a $20 iTunes store credit and the attorneys will make millions.

So if you sign up, you should be ashamed. Before you flame me for this post, take a minute and think about the true ramification and end result of this class-action lawsuit.

Well said!

While I agree with you the one thing this does do is provide exposure, albeit negative, to the issue at hand. Hopefully this just lets Apple wake up and see that they may want to investigate the claims now.

In the end, participants of a class action lawsuit usually don't end up with much money when you're one of thousands. I think I have a check for $12 from SBC or something along those lines somewhere around here. ;)

I sent a little Note to the Law Firm

You should be aware that your name is spreading like wildfire in a highly negative way over the Internet.

If someone was actually injured by Apple, that might be one thing, but the suit over the antennae issue is generally seen as opportunistic and frivolous. It looks to be a classic example of why so many cry out for tort reform. It worries me because such suits will eventually lead to tort reform that will likely be full of unintended consequences.

Keep in mind that engineering types are well aware of the problem that Apple is being singled out for. It occurs in all sorts of mobile phones.

Here is an example of the problem occurring on a Nokia E71:

Here is an example of the problem on an HTC Droid:

Here is an example of the problem on a Nexus One:

I noticed it myself in 3G phones for years. I first noticed that my phone would start to lose signal strength when I picked it up, and regain signal strength when I put it down. This was before there even was an iPhone.

Picking on Apple because of an issue that is not unusual in the industry seems very much like a move taken because Apple has deep pockets.

Some of us still look to trial attorneys as the folks who protect us from the big guys. Some of us still believe you're not evil. Some of us even know that when Shakespeare's "Dick the Butcher" said "The first thing we do, let's kill all the lawyers" he was talking about getting rid of the protectors of the people. He was saying something good about lawyers.

Suing Apple over a common physics problem seems like suing a particular airline because a flight experienced turbulence. It's the nature of the beast.

Now you might want to take a look at this:

I'll bet you could do well with this one, and it can be argued that people were
put in danger.

I dunno guys. I guess you have to do what you have to do, but seems like a bad one to me.

This is getting more dramatic than Toyota's recall. Get real people, the solution I quite darn simple: return the damn phone if you're not happy. Ahg, the drama...

People, this is the cost of being an early adopter.

Damn straight! If you want the latest technology, the most bad-ass new toy...you accept the calculated risk that the bugs aren't yet worked out. Sucks that there are problems, but they cannot and should not be addressed lawyers.

Now excuse me while I go seek legal advice on how to sue this forum for distracting me while I sit at my desk.

You're missing the point, it's not just to get the free $5, it's to get Apple to admit there's a problem after seeing that a good 100% of us have issues. I don't care about getting free stuff, it's just like being a witness. That's why I sent them my information with my experience. They just need us to back it up. Yeah, they get money, but they're the one who opened the case in the first place, they're paying the legal fees, not you.

Wow. People need to stop claiming that we all have problems. Just because you and anyone else on macrumors is having trouble does not mean we all are. Myself and about 10-15 people I know who got iPhone 4 have had no issues at all. The only place I've seen people with issues is on this website, so in the real world I have not seen anybody with problems.

I know you guys with problems will just get pissy and say "OMG!!! You really do have the problem!! You just don't know it!"

This lawsuit will go absolutely nowhere.

Valleywag reports that Sacramento, California law firm Kershaw, Cutter & Ratinoff (KCR) has begun soliciting iPhone 4 customers for their experiences with signal loss when holding the device in a specific manner. The firm is offering telephone, email, and live chat contact options for customers as it presumably begins looking to launch a class action lawsuit against Apple.

KCR gained some fame last year for its class action suit filed late last year against Facebook and social gaming company Zynga over scammy "special offer" ads in Zynga's popular games.

Apple's response to the signal issues and prospect of class action lawsuits is not yet known, with initial comments from CEO Steve Jobs and Apple brushing off the issue being followed by a "stay tuned" comment from Jobs suggesting that some sort of action may be taken.

I hope nobody is buying into this crap. Apple will have a firmware update soon to resolve the signal indicator issues. I certainly do not want a bunch of money grubbing lawyers stirring up needless trouble and wasteful time in the courtroom. Its a first release revolutionary product, Apple will resolve the issues. This goes the same for Nokia, as much as I don't like them, I would not join a class action lawsuit against them unless it was something causing endangerment to people. The mobile technology is moving so fast, give the big players a little bit a breathing room to make adjustments. Lawyers certainly put the A$$ in Class Action in this case.
