I can see why everyone wants Blu-Ray, but I just can't see it happening on the laptops just yet. I think Mac Pro's will be able to have them by next year.
And then maybe Blu-Ray drive in 17-inch MacBook Pro's in late 2009 - early 2010.

Easy access to the HD is would be great feature, I love how easy it is to access the HD on the MB's.

Ladies and gentlemen start your MBP wishlists

Just to be clear...

Are all the BluRay people wanting a BR drive for the storage capacity or strictly for movie/media files?

User-replaceable HDD's is absolutely fabulous. It's the #1 thing I wanted.

Now for the #2 thing: When will the MBP most likely get a graphics card update?

It probably won't ever happen unless it becomes as easy as a dvd and cd burner. About five years ago, you had to pay extra to find those (at least the dvd burner) in computers.
My old laptop doesn't have one. My parents old desktop does, but they had to pay extra for it.

Someone just needs to make a universal disc drive that does everything, only without all the buttons - I mean, without sucking out all of the battery power.

I sure hope so. *crosses fingers for a dedicated graphics card in the MBs.*

AppleInsider also speculates that the Apple logo will continue to be illuminated from behind as it is in existing Apple laptops.

Well, I guess I will wait until just before my first day of college to purchase my MBP. Anyone know if this new design will affect pricing at all? (Preferably not making it more expensive, I mean I'm already shelling out $3000!)

Also any word on when this is doing down? (Too lazy to read through ten pages)
Thanks!!

Well, if they put them in Macbooks, I'd no longer want a MBP. That's probably the exact reason Apple doesn't make dedicated graphics cards in MB's.

So...forgive me if I'm wrong...but didn't the old MBP have a spot to remove the RAM too...? Where's the slot for that...? I will not give up RAM swapping for HDD swapping.

if its made of Aluminum, i won't buy one. i have heard that they dent very easily? also i prefer the white plastic of my MB.

If it is constructed the way the MBA is it won't dent. The current MBP casing doesn't dent easy either. I've had two, so I know. And I toke them every where.

I too would however like the MBP to be made out of a different material, but not polycarbonates the are too heavy. I would rather they use reinforced plastics like carbon fibre and kevlar. Which are very light, stiff and if laminated correctly very strong.

Well then, I guess I'll be best off just waiting it out until then, although I kinda want to actually go to college with a laptop...haha.

I just hope they decide to put in magnetic latches, not that I want it to look like the Macbook Air totally, but it just seems logical. (My friend's Macbook Pro is so annoying to open!)

I understand your reasoning, but surely this can't be the only big reason to buy a MBP over a regular MB?

I know it would piss off a lot of people to have to shell out an extra 1k just to get a dedicated graphics card. I know it already does piss off a lot of people. But aren't there other advantages to the MBP? I don't really see anything different in the specs.

Well, even a less powerful dedicated graphics card would be better than nothing.

I hope it has better cooling and doesn't hit my leg with 3rd degree burns like my current one.

The dedicated video card is the break down point. I've asked the question before and most user agree. Some are even willing to take slower processors just for a low end discrete video solution.

Yeah I think they could manage a dedicated card in the Macbook. There are many more reasons to get a Pro than for the graphics.

Obviously if the HD is accessible, ram will be as well. Now lets hope they have gotten rid of the FW400 port, upped the stock size of their HD's, and we see a extra USB port added. Also a up to a non express card slot would be nice.

Obviously the HDMI output has been moved around, along with a few of the current ports on the MBP because of the battery placement.

Blue-ray will be a no no, and I doubt that the new MPB will be able to take Solid State Drives. I hope there is a price drop of about 100-200$, its time Apple gave back to the Customers again.

I don't think we will see these out before summers end.
