Seriously, why would suppliers risk ticking Apple off and losing their business in the next round? Why would employees risk losing their jobs smuggling busted parts out of the shop?
Why would people play the lottery? Be Cub fans? Smoke? Drink and drive?

Samsung and Apple probably have to call each other up now and say okay I'm not doing a square one, you do that, I'll do the long skinny one and then you can do the circle and I'll take the triangle. And we did not have this phone call, I don't even know who you are.

I mean they must be tired of paying those rafts of lawyers, the both of them.

I'd rather have triangle than circle, so that's fine :D. If I recall, Nokia had a circle dumbphone that made the keypad rather ridiculous.

Does anyone else find it odd that MR has a banner across the top of their site saying that the next iPhone will be announced September 12th. There's no official announcement from Apple. That's still a month away, and they've had the banner for over a week now, unless I'm mistaken. Even if Apple has it planned to do it that date, they could change their mind if things aren't quite ready then.

Local news here announced this date. Must be something going around.

Apple is doing a great job at controlling these leaks, sending everyone down the wrong path until Sep 12 announcement :)

I hope that's sarcasm. It almost sounds like you haven't been around for past parts leaks.

Either Apple has a hole that's almost impossible to close or they don't want to close it. The pattern of parts leaks is getting so predictable.

Exactly. Why no leaks on the processor yet? Why no info on RAM? Talk about doubling down. By this stage in the cycle there was always stuff about web views with a new model number - not a peep this time. No processor info - does this mean it's only a 5 or 5X? There's been nothing on the A6 for over a year and only speculation on NFC - no parts. We haven't even had a screen to measure and count pixels yet. WTF.
And the name - why not a 4G. It's likely to have LTE and is as likely as the others. We've had a 3G and 3Gs, 4 and 4s. Or, and this could be a stretch seeing we're onto the iPad 3, no wait, what happened to the iPad 3? Could we be getting a new iPhone?

I don't think Paris Hilton has as many revealing photos as the next generation iPhone.

The nacho iPhone, sí... keyboard aligned with any edge you prefer, cam on opposite corner. I like it!

I guess I'm surprised by the Hammer being put to Mr. Cook. At the end of the day, once the product leaves the RD facility of the originating company, their ability to really control what get's out is practically nil.

And as has been mentioned previously, in the case of Apple, the appetite is so great that the motivation to find/create leaks is HUGE.

Nobody cares what's coming out of Samsung for obvious reasons, or Microsoft or Sony etc... The passion and the creativity of the products just isn't that great.

If Tim wants to "Double Down", then we're gonna pay a lot more, because stuff will have be be made at 1 Infinite Loop... With cavity searches at the end of every shift...:D

Its going to be interesting

Although I dont like the prospects of the new iPhone, I believe there must be something interesting behind all of this.

Either Apple is really leaking this on purpose and they will marvel the people with a good surprise, or Cooks double down on security is totally crap and they are coming with that long phone with different resolution and fragmented hardware for their software. I dont think its gonna fail, but Ill certainly wait a lot to see what the extra screen is gonna do in favor for the phone. They must have something interesting to see.

Why would employees risk losing their jobs smuggling busted parts out of the shop?

Because the potential payoff from selling leaked parts might be worth several weeks/months salary.

Why wouldn't Apple engage in a little disinformation to teach a few competitors a few lessons?

Because A) they've never done it in the past and B) we'll eventually see it with the shields off containing new parts that will be too new to be from a past prototype.

Yup. The people on this forum seem largely incapable of counting to 6 and realizing this is the 6TH GENERATION iPHONE

To a lot of us it is just as reasonable that it "could" be called an iPhone 5.

The 2nd gen iPhone was called a 3G, the 5th gen was called a 4S. So why couldn't they chose to call the 6th gen a iPhone 5?

I can't wait for the leaks on the iPad mini to start pouring in. A new iPhone is grand and all, but an entirely new product line is going to be what grabs my attention this holiday.
