You do realize the iPhone 3G was called that because it was the first iPhone to have 3G speeds, right? The "3" did not have anything to do with the numbering or the generation.

OMG, you're right! Someone give this guy a freaking gold medal for pointing out something no one on this thread knew! -_-

I guess double down doesn't mean what we thought it did lol. Cool to see more stuff coming; I hope we don't have to wait madly long in NZ this time ... even if it requires switching carriers. Very much ready -now- operating on a dumbphone as my iPhone 4 has finally died almost a year after a swim.

2 x 0 = 0.

A) doesn't mean they won't do it this time. On B: too new? maybe from six months ago? and still not parts for the next launch.

You said previous prototypes. So are you saying these are actually the current gen prototype parts? While anything is possible, prototype parts are much more closely and easily secured.

No, a much more plausible explanation is that once a phone hits a certain level of manufacturing and as parts are shipped back and forth between suppliers, parts get stolen. The most obvious explanation is often the truth. All these ideas of pre-planned corporate diversions are highly unlikely. Unless thoe really are black helicopters I see outside my window.

I think the doubling-down was directed at the phones lost in bars.

I love this time of year... Apple may hate leaks, but the anticipation as we see one tiny ass part at a time is good publicity for me. Keeps me waiting to see the next bit, until the reveal.

I strangely had a new thought this time around, as we all poke and joke about the parts and leaks... how come nobody has a site dedicated to what the next Samsung phone or HTC phone is going to look like. I wonder if those leaked parts even have any value -- or if (like here) nobody gives a rat's ass.

Just sayin...

Well, it's not hard to look for pieces of plastic around you , is it? :p

That animation is well done. What amazes me is how tiny the logic board is, considering what the iPhone is capable of, with the (supposedly) new processor and increased RAM.

Most of the iPhone is a battery. So a more fitting name would be iBattery.

Although I dont like the prospects of the new iPhone, I believe there must be something interesting behind all of this.

Either Apple is really leaking this on purpose and they will marvel the people with a good surprise, or Cooks double down on security is totally crap and they are coming with that long phone with different resolution and fragmented hardware for their software. I dont think its gonna fail, but Ill certainly wait a lot to see what the extra screen is gonna do in favor for the phone. They must have something interesting to see.

I sincerely hope it's not just an elongated iPhone 4/4S with updated hardware.

As much as I love my iPhone 4, it's time for a new design. Look at each major revision of the iPhone and there has been some change - the exception to this has been from the original iPhone to iPhone 3G/3Gs which had a plastic back replacing the metal back of the original phone.

Samsung et. al., have shown there is serious competition in the smart phone market now so Apple need to do more than elongate the current iPhone and wait for the cash to roll in.

The sad thing is that there will be sufficient people who will just hand over money because it's new, but I hope to Christ that there's something new about the design beyond an elongated screen and a crappy two-tone look. :(

The new iBattery, now with added smart phone! :p;)

Why would employees risk losing their jobs smuggling busted parts out of the shop?

Who knows. Maybe some like the sharp edges inside smuggler's cove.

The frequency of "Leaks" has me thinking that a part of this must involve Apple. There's simply too many, and Apple is too powerful, especially over their suppliers to allow this to continue.

As I see it there are a few possibilities.

1) Apple is orchestrating the leaks "from suppliers".

2) The suppliers have tested the waters and found Apple "looking the other way".

3) Apple's long time advocates in the industry, or the writers like Walt Mossberg, David Pogue, et al, that were the anointed ones by Steve Jobs during the early days, then continuing till Steves passing, are the ones behind some of this.

There's too much to be gained in page views for the sites, and too much benefit from the buzz for Apple. It's simply not a case of Apple sitting back aimlessly, allowing this to happen.

You should have included government in this conspiracy otherwise it's lacking the intrigue.

Apple is going from a mostly glass phone... to an all new unibody aluminum phone.

The other guys go from plastic... to plastic.

But seriously... does anyone buy the new "insert phone here" because of how it looks?

A painting is something you look at... a phone is something you use.

If the iPhone and iOS don't meet your needs... then feel free to jump to another platform.

But there's one thing the iPhone has always excelled at... software. And Apple just happens to put it in a pretty package too.

The next iPhone may just look like an elongated iPhone 4... but if you like iOS... it will be the best iPhone ever.

lol dude its the pattern iphone, iphone 3g iphone 3gs,iphone 4 ,iphone 4s, next will be iphone 5, iphone 5s,iphone 6,iphone 6s and so on thats would be strange the Xs they usually upgrade the same phone and tweak it and then the next number they change the phone phones look and more upgrades, well so far they have

Wow, that is a bizarre, yet adorable theory you have there!! Of course 3g was the technology used on the phone, not a pattern.. Oh, and your "pattern" doesn't mind not having an iPhone 1x?
For someone "lol-ing" another's view, yours sure seems juvenile.. just saying.
