"So much for doubling down on secrecy"

"Steve Jobs never would have allowed this"

"It is not going to be called the 'iPhone 5'!"

And we're still calling it the iPhone 5 huh?

Yup. The people on this forum seem largely incapable of counting to 6 and realizing this is the 6TH GENERATION iPHONE

I've been saying this to anyone who says "iPhone 5". Its the 6th Generation, the iPhone 4S is "the iPhone 5"

I'm going to quote the post below every time someone is stupid enough to bring this up.

This is for all the stupid idiots that don’t know how the real world works.

2007 iphone named: iphone (because it’s a cool name)

2008 iphone named: iphone 3G (because of the 3G speed)

2009 iphone named: iphone 3Gs (because of the extra speed for the 3G)

2010 iphone named: iphone 4 (because it would be dumb to call it iphone 5,6,7,8 or anything else.)

2011 iphone named: iphone 4s (because every two years they like to add a “s” for speed and calling it 5 would be retarded when it looks the same. It also allows them to sell a crap load of new phones with very little changed.)

2012 iphone named: iphone 5 (because that is the name. If you ignore the dam “generation” and how many phones there were. And if you look at the world outside your nerd house; you will notice that EVERYONE else in the REAL world is waiting for the iphone 5. It will just confuse to many people and make even less sence to call it anything else. READ EXAMPLES)

The generation argument is the dumbest thing Ive ever heard.

Generation Example:
2012: iphone 6
2013: iphone 6s
2014: iphone 8
2015: iphone 8s
2016: iphone 10
2017: iphone 10s

Makes sense Example:
2012: iphone 5
2013: iphone 5s
2014: iphone 6
2015: iphone 6s
2016: iphone 7
2017: iphone 7s

Nerd speak “well you can’t call the 2016 iphone 7 because it’s the 10th phone”

DUMBASSES!!

But seriously... does anyone buy the new "insert phone here" because of how it looks?

I do. It could be the best thing since sliced bread but if it's ugly I will be less likely to buy it.

A painting is something you look at... a phone is something you use.

Yes, but can't it be both visually pleasing and functional? Apple have proved this with the iPhone 4/4S.

If the iPhone and iOS don't meet your needs... then feel free to jump to another platform.

But there's one thing the iPhone has always excelled at... software. And Apple just happens to put it in a pretty package too.

The next iPhone may just look like an elongated iPhone 4... but if you like iOS... it will be the best iPhone ever.

Perhaps. I still think that an elongated iPhone 4 with an aluminium back will look ugly

----------

Wouldn't they smuggle out a complete phone...
less sharp edges than parts.

Maybe that's how they roll....:p

I do not understand the point of all these leaks. WIth this much information and images leaked, just show the entire phone put together already.

This is NOT a hoax phone either - too much genuine parts to be a real hoax. It's not bad PR for apple in regards to these leaks because this just gets everyone wet for sept 12.

I just don't see the point of leaking these parts piece by piece; it's like a strip tease but split into weeks at a time.

Wow, that is a bizarre, yet adorable theory you have there!! Of course 3g was the technology used on the phone, not a pattern.. Oh, and your "pattern" doesn't mind not having an iPhone 1x?
For someone "lol-ing" another's view, yours sure seems juvenile.. just saying.

actually for the general public his view is the most logical.

that, or they will go with 'the new iPhone'

-4 inch Display
-1136 X 768 Resolution at 326 ppi
-A5X Chipset
-LTE
-Aluminium back
-1440 MAh Battery
-iOS 6
-8 MP Camera with better optics

I think the rumors have covered it all. Apple is gonna have a hard time surprising us. However, they can still surprise us with something like Siri but I don't care about that feature. A larger screen and LTE is enough for me to pre-order this phone.

I sincerely hope that this is disinformation on behalf of apple. I really wait for the new iphone.....but if it's going to look like this and have 4 inches of screen- Im getting galaxy S III. Seriously, the phones nowadays need bigger screen than 4 inches.:rolleyes:

Then i'd suggest you go get the Siii now and don't be one of those people who start whining when it's announced. We all know apple won't make a 4.5"+ screen just because samesung does it.

Are you kidding me?!

It's going to be the iPhone 5. Going from iPhone, to iPhone 3G and 3GS, to iPhone 4 and 4S, it only makes sense to call it the 5. The public doesn't care about generation numbers. If they did, Apple would've called them iPhone 1, 2, 3, 4, etc. Calling it the iPhone 6 would make no sense because the public would always be asking "What happened to the iPhone 5?" Literally every person I talk to about it calls it the iPhone 5. I even asked another forum I'm on and everyone said iPhone 5.

Just stop. It could be the iPhone 5, the iPhone 4G, the new iPhone, but it won't be iPhone 6

Quite honestly, there is absolutely no precendent in place for the naming of the different models, aside from the 'S' midlife update (and even then it could easily shift). We all know that this will be called 'The New iPhone' anyway, so what's the point of all the mindless arguing?

Weighing in anyway (I like mindless arguing) - 6 makes more sense to me, because of the A6 processor (which will be a bit part of the sell IMO). The names always mean something (3G = wireless, 3GS = Speed, 4 = 4th gen, 4S = Siri), and 5 means nothing to this device.

You go ahead, and try to take your friends with you on to the SIII boat. That will cut down a few competitions when other's are trying to get it on the first day.

1. It's a theory at least based on more of a pattern than those who keep bitching that it will be iphone 6 (who aren't basing it on any pattern Apple has ever chosen to use. Except for chance that the 4th gen was called the 4. Then the 5th gen was called the 4s..).

2. More importantly, it's a name... is it really that upsetting to all of you bickering over this that you have to keep threadjacking every frikking thread that some one dares say "iphone 5" (and I say this cause it seems it is the ones who think it should be called iphone 6 that are the worst about this) rather than "iphone 5 or disclaimer might be iphone 6 but what I really mean is the next iphone and I"m not trying to discuss name cause that's beside the point".

Do you realize how obnoxious you all are being when people can't feel like they can discuss stuff about the next phone without putting a long disclaimer to shut you all up so they can discuss what they want hoping not to get threadjacked into some name war?

Do you realize some people don't care that much and just were trying to denote the next phone and actually wanted to discuss what hte next iphone would have and it's just convenient to say iphone 5?

Can you not just let it be when some one dares call it something you don't agree with? You obviously know which phone they are talking about so why do you have to constantly bring it up? It's not like it's causing any confusion which iphone they are talking about so there's no reason to go correcting everyone when they dare refer to it as something other than what you think appropriate (That's right, cause none of us know what Apple is going to call it except those who work for Apple and I doubt they're going to tell us cause they'd like to keep their jobs. Yep, I said none. I don't know, the guy you are so busy flaming over what he called it doesn't know, and most importantly, you don't know so get the h*** over yourself).

The iPhone 4S was the last Apple phone for me. It was an interesting ride while it lasted. But I have grown bored of iOS. I expect much more from a phone nowadays. Android 4.1 looks and sounds incredible. I'm getting tired of not being able to reply to a text message without being disturbed by app transition. Actually the list of fundamentals that will still be missing in iOS6 are simply to great and grave to deny. I appreciate what the iPhone has done for tech, but it's time to move on........

Except the general public didn't know that 4 = 4th gen (so you're making the same mistake as those arguing for the iPhone 6). 4 was just a logical number to come after the 3G/3GS. The same would be true of the 5, except they may call it "the new iPhone" instead. The general public is certainly not going to care about or remember what the iPhone's processor is called.

Y'all still think these leaks are the real next iPhone, right?

Apple could BUY that French site and put its own past prototype parts on there.

I'm still hoping for the iPhone that looks like a duck. Small, yellow and orange.

Seriously, why would suppliers risk ticking Apple off and losing their business in the next round? Why would employees risk losing their jobs smuggling busted parts out of the shop? Why wouldn't Apple engage in a little disinformation to teach a few competitors a few lessons?

What would it teach them exactly? They got the hits already and they'll get them again with the next new gadget Apple has planned. You think they'll be like "oh man, apple tricked us last time, lets just keep quiet until the official release"?

The same way that apple won't make a 4.0" screen because the 3.5" is " just right" ?
I truly wonder what your argument will be in a couple of years when apple introduce a wide also 4.3"-4.5" iPhone.

me too! Then I used a Galaxy Nexus on 4.1.1 and realized how bad the camera was, the backplate never stayed still, you can't write a new text to someone in your contacts list using the native messaging app, you can't use a lock screen and a passcode together, apps looked like they were designed for a 3.5 inch screen and stretched to 4.3, widgets crashed, widgets didn't update, widgets didn't load, the list goes on and on. And then I realized I don't need widgets and my home screen looked like iOS...

No match to chassis

Has anyone actually looked at the Animated Gif?

The only Hole that matches is the middle one. So how can it be an exact match???

I sincerely hope it's not just an elongated iPhone 4/4S with updated hardware.

As much as I love my iPhone 4, it's time for a new design. Look at each major revision of the iPhone and there has been some change - the exception to this has been from the original iPhone to iPhone 3G/3Gs which had a plastic back replacing the metal back of the original phone.

The sad thing is that there will be sufficient people who will just hand over money because it's new

So you can't see anythign new with the design?
OMG!! Yes, you are so damn right? Look at the volume buttons and the sleep button? They are exactly the same.....!!!! Looks like the home button is on the same location too???

Nothing new here!! I will give it a pass. Will wait for the iPhone with teleporter or at least holographic facetime.

Of course it is the 6th generation, but no one called it "5th generation iPhone". We just call it iPhone 5, because it fits better to the 3G, 3GS, 4, 4S schema.
Are you incapable of getting this abstraction into your head?
Or do you simply want everybody to see that there is something very important you know way better than most others?
Get a life!
