I'm amazed at how easily some of the younger kids here fall victim to conspiracy theories and alleged "controlled" leaks by Apple.
I'm not saying Apple has never done such things but it's FAR, FAR less frequent than some of the forum members here would have you believe it to be.
It's unnecessary. There is no grand scheme really. The announcement on Sept. 12th, along with a few ads, would be more than sufficient for Apple to sell a boatload of the new iPhones.
The majority of the mainstream public do not have time (or the desire) to rent a rooming house on MacRumors.com for days/weeks/months/years bickering about the likelihoods of each and every Apple related rumor.
Take your tinfoil hats off and just enjoy the blurry snapshots of the future.

Also... to add to some other posters comments... who cares if people are calling the new iPhone... the iPhone 5? It's not that serious.
Knowing that the new iPhone will technically be the 6th iteration in the series will not bolster your resume for that Apple Genius position you've been desperately applying for.
