I think it will be called "The new iPhone" with larger screen and resolution, faster CPU and GPU, more RAM, improved cameras and more storage. Super thin and light with at least one major feature exclusivly for this model. The rest will be all about iOS. iPhone 4S will be at 99$. (1 hour of the keynote)

I expect new iMacs and Mac Pro with lastest generation CPU and GPU and high end Macbook Air with retina display. (30min of the keynote)

End of the keynote.

Great photoshop work on the bottom picture where the board is superimposed over te housing...;)

Mac Pros aren't happening till late next year, as Cook said. They also won't talk about macs at an iOS event. Maybe iPods, though.

Getting slightly more disappointed with every new leak because each one makes it seem more likely that the iPhone is going to end up with that awful two tone back.

Seriously, what's the significance of this leak? I can't infer anything from the logic board ( like you can tell what specs it is going to have)?

As good as not posting, IMO.

It's like a striptease, tomorrow they will remove the shield so we can see what's the SOC. I bet it's a 32nm (slighty) higher clocked A5.

And we're still calling it the iPhone 5 huh?

Yes WE are, get over it.

Apple is doing a great job at controlling these leaks, sending everyone down the wrong path until Sep 12 announcement :)
Only those that are 1. Living in denial 2. Are incredibly stupid, believe this. I'll leave it up to you to let us know which answer fits you best.

Yup. The people on this forum seem largely incapable of counting to 6 and realizing this is the 6TH GENERATION iPHONE
Or some of us are capable of knowing what is being talked about when the term iPhone 5 is used and some of us have nothing better to do than whine about what others are calling the iPhone 5. From your post we know which one you are.
OMG I saw this a few pages back and will also post every time some mental giant decides to whine about the iPhone 5!!

2009 iphone named: iphone 3Gs (because of the extra speed for the 3G)

2010 iphone named: iphone 4 (because it would be dumb to call it iphone 5,6,7,8 or anything else.)

2011 iphone named: iphone 4s (because every two years they like to add a “s” for speed and calling it 5 would be retarded when it looks the same. It also allows them to sell a crap load of new phones with very little changed.)

2012 iphone named: iphone 5 (because that is the name. If you ignore the dam “generation” and how many phones there were. And if you look at the world outside your nerd house; you will notice that EVERYONE else in the REAL world is waiting for the iphone 5. It will just confuse to many people and make even less sence to call it anything else. READ EXAMPLES)

The generation argument is the dumbest thing Ive ever heard.

Generation Example:
2012: iphone 6
2013: iphone 6s
2014: iphone 8
2015: iphone 8s
2016: iphone 10
2017: iphone 10s
Makes sense Example:
2012: iphone 5
2013: iphone 5s
2014: iphone 6
2015: iphone 6s
2016: iphone 7
2017: iphone 7s
Nerd speak “well you can’t call the 2016 iphone 7 because it’s the 10th phone”

I don't think Apple will 'go big' on this phone launch. I think they will try and sell the ecosystem/brand. Perhaps an Apple TV set and App Store will appear too or some major enhancements to iCloud.

It's going to get harder and harder to bring out killer phones that slay everything out there.

Anyway, if these leakers got together they could build the whole phone and tell us if it's any good

It's the attention to detail that makes Apple products so great. If they start naming products incorrectly, that will confirm our worst fears that standards are slipping at Apple. Slipping standards ultimately means bad products we must all avoid.

Please tell me you're being facetious...

The larger screen terrifies me actually. How do those of us who have been making fun of Samsung/HTC/Sony etc. for their large bulky screens deal with this? I've been telling everyone who will listen that the iPhone screen is the perfect size for a phone. I know many on here have shared similar sentiments that the iPhone screen is exactly the right size, and that Apple was right to resist making it bigger.

How do we now explain to friends and relatives why the iPhone 5 is suddenly even better than the iPhone 4 because it has a larger screen?

Larger screen doesnt mean necesarry a biger phone. A good use of the space and some milimiters from here and there can give you a larger ratio screen without incresing drasticaly the actual size of the device. If you compare the leaked mockup and the 4S you will notice that it is a bit taller but that its and knowing Jony Ive, im sure it will lay beatifuly in your palm.

Apple will absolutely "go big" on this launch. It is the most radical redesign of the iPhone ever - even more radical than the 4.

The 4 had a new case design, front camera and retina display as its main features. The new iPhone has a new case design but this time it's a unibody case that's extremely thin - that's a big deal for Apple, a new dock, a new screen size/ratio, likely NFC and LTE. It also seems probable that the new iPhone will have a better internal speaker (the grill is far larger than on the 4/4s).

This is the most radical redesign of the iPhone since launch.

The iPhone 4S was the last Apple phone for me. It was an interesting ride while it lasted. But I have grown bored of iOS. I expect much more from a phone nowadays. Android 4.1 looks and sounds incredible. I'm getting tired of not being able to reply to a text message without being disturbed by app transition. Actually the list of fundamentals that will still be missing in iOS6 are simply to great and grave to deny. I appreciate what the iPhone has done for tech, but it's time to move on........

Ok, see ya. Thanks for letting us all know.

If this is true, Apple phones are becoming the mark of a sheeple type person . Why would anyone want a skinny phone ? Skinny jeans maybe ? I hate those people to though !
But if you just blindly worship everything Apple does , (and many people just piss themselves at the near mention of an Apple product ) then go ahead and support the hole they dug for themselves .
Why do you hate those that like apple so much? Because I like the ecosystem of iPhone I'm a sheeple? Sorry man but it sticks, your arrogance is again astounding. (Calling every one that likes iPhone for what ever reason they see fit sheeple is arrogant. Thought I would explain it to you ahead of time so you don't need to ask me why I called you arrogant again.)

3G - 3GS, 4 - 4S, more likely to be called the iPhone 5.

While you may be correct that this will be called the iPhone 5, there really is no reason to believe that based on past naming. The 4 was the only phone that had a name matching the generation number. If the next iPhone is called the five that will remain the case. Basically, what I'm saying is that if it is called the 5 it won't be for the same reason that the 4 was called the 4.

Please, you cannot be serious. Do you really think the name of a new product is something that is not subject to careful consideration in Apple?

There is no incorrect way to name a product. By the discussions in this thread you can see that there are several ways at looking at this issue (if it is indeed one). If there would be ONE right way of naming the product, then the person with that idea would have stopped the discussion. The fact that everyone here is giving their opinion on the naming scheme confirms that there is no ONE right name.

And be honest. If a stupid naming scheme would be an indication of bad products than Apple would not be where it is now. No-one would have bought the iPod. It's all about marketing and this is what Apple excells in. They will sell millions of the new iPhone, no matter whether it is called the iPhone 5, 6 or new iPhone.
