The new iPhone has a new case design but this time it's a unibody case that's extremely thin - that's a big deal for Apple, a new dock, a new screen size/ratio, likely NFC and LTE. It also seems probable that the new iPhone will have a better internal speaker (the grill is far larger than on the 4/4s).

This is the most radical redesign of the iPhone since launch.

Umm unless you've actually seen one of these, then only Apple and Foxconn know what the damn thing will look like.

If this is true, Apple phones are becoming the mark of a sheeple type person . Why would anyone want a skinny phone ? Skinny jeans maybe ? I hate those people to though !

I'm sorry to say this but Google has finally surpassed Apple in every way in the smartphone market. This 4S will be the last in a fun 4 generations of upgrades.

It's a no brainer at this point if you are a tech enthusiast.

But if you just blindly worship everything Apple does , (and many people just piss themselves at the near mention of an Apple product ) then go ahead and support the hole they dug for themselves .

What ? .....Fragmentation ? That's called "Support" suckers :)

I understand that this is MacRumors ......But consider that my disapproval is only a light opposition for what I perceive to be a failing company in the waning days of public opinion.

Apple will rule for another 2 years, but Microsoft has a few more tricks up their sleeves.

Windows Phone 9 is the starting point.

Stay tuned

This is a RUMOR site For speculation and discussion. Not a Fan-Club. Just because we are interested in Apple rumors it doesn't mean we should be frothing at the mouth with Apple rabid comments.

So you basically drop in here and claim that this forum is simply a fan-club and that you would see rabid fanboy comments all over the place. Yet, you post garbage with such hate against Apple.

And call Apple fans, sheep.

I see.

The frequency of "Leaks" has me thinking that a part of this must involve Apple. There's simply too many, and Apple is too powerful, especially over their suppliers to allow this to continue.

As I see it there are a few possibilities.

1) Apple is orchestrating the leaks "from suppliers".

2) The suppliers have tested the waters and found Apple "looking the other way".

3) Apple's long time advocates in the industry, or the writers like Walt Mossberg, David Pogue, et al, that were the anointed ones by Steve Jobs during the early days, then continuing till Steves passing, are the ones behind some of this.

There's too much to be gained in page views for the sites, and too much benefit from the buzz for Apple. It's simply not a case of Apple sitting back aimlessly, allowing this to happen.

Cause they are, Apple are getting a ton of free advertising for their new iPhone here. Why pay billions for a pre-launch marketing campaign when you can just let out controlled leaks of the devices parts?

I'm really interested to see any evidence that these leaks are intentional by Apple. These are all most likely just parts that have been smuggled out of the factories by the workers and sold to some blogs. Much more logical than some conspiracy theory, or does anyone have any conclusive evidence?

I can't see the point in posting these images. Except for the ones of the shape, useful for companies manufacturing cases, they don't bring anything to the users.

If I were Apple I would hunt these intruders down.

I'm starting to really wonder if at least some of these leaks are "controlled leaks" by Apple PR. It is a great PR move because it keeps the iPhone in the news.

There is no way Apple are letting these leaks out deliberately.

Not unless they are going to enjoy being looked at like a joke on the official launch when he does the BIG REVEAL of the product that he knows everyone in the audience has already seen inside and out.

He almost needs now to actually make a joke to the audience when he comes to that part, along the lines of, "Now I know you have already seen this, but here it is, finally for real."

Then everyone would laugh as we all know, as opposed to him trying to keep a straight face and the audience giving a big, oh yeah seen it already sigh.

Is that you Tim?

But of course we all know these are elaborate fakes. The next phone will look nothing like these leaks.

I think what apple are doing, by leaking the iPhone slimjims parts they are neatly deflecting from rumors of the iPad mini, Apple TVset and iMac/mac mini/macpro with all surface mounted SSDs that are sure to arrive this year.

I think the single biggest item of news this year will be apples dropping of mechanical hard drives from the range of stock builds (and only being a really expensive BTO option)

Until i can get an iPhone with enough battery life to last the day, im stuck with the horrid android OS. (hint, Apple stop making the phone thinner/lighter, double down on the size and battery and make users happy, it needs at least to last 12-14hrs moderate usage[ie. the amount of time from me getting up and leaving the house to getting home and being able to charge again], not 5-6hrs which is utterly useless unless your going from overnight charging, to a desk job where you can leave it on charge all day)

Apple will absolutely "go big" on this launch. It is the most radical redesign of the iPhone ever - even more radical than the 4.

The 4 had a new case design, front camera and retina display as its main features. The new iPhone has a new case design but this time it's a unibody case that's extremely thin - that's a big deal for Apple, a new dock, a new screen size/ratio, likely NFC and LTE. Thank you Zunjine! One of the best posts here yet. :)
I'm reading all the topics for several weeks now and I've decided to join the forum to post some thoughts about this new iPhone.

We all heard the quotes:
“Tim Cook said they’re doubling down on security”
“They are controlling this leak”
“Apple would never make a longer iPhone, it’s not innovating”
“Steve never allowed this to happen”

etc.

Well, here’s what I think:
Apple is doubling down on security. But not on the iPhone.
Apple is not controlling this leak but neither they wanted to stop the leaking because of:

Apple TV

September 12th, is not the expected october launch we thought there would be. So this event is (together witch iPods and iPhone) a special Apple TV event. Or it would only involve Apple TV and iPod (because September is iPod month) and they will announce the iPHone a month later in October. But I think they will do it all together.

Possible presentation on September 12th:
15 minutes: iPods update
45 minutes: iPhone update
One more thing: Apple TV

I’m really thinking that Apple is ramping up production of the Apple TV and that we can expect a november/december launch.

Back on topic:
I really like the new design of the new iPhone. At this moment I’m using a iPhone 4 from launch day (1st of may 2010). When you look to the side of the new phone, its seamless and the glass is integrated in the aluminum frame. With the iPhone 4/4S it is laying on top of the frame so it’s not really comfortable in you hands.

Overall the make the design more symmetrical by moving the headphone jack to the bottom and having 4 black stripes on the antenna frame. Now the left, right and top of the phone are really nice to look at and the bottom (who will ever look at the bottom?!) is where all the connections and holes are.

This new leak about the logic board was about to happen. In a few days we know all about processor speed, NFC and possible 4G network. After this, we have to wait until september 12th to see what the killer feature will be (I’m guessing NFC, 4G and bigger screen though) and hoping for a reasonable pricing!

So I suppose everyone[including Apple] who called the iPhone 4S the.. Well.. iPhone 4S were wrong when it was clearly the iPhone 5?

//People who can't accept that names don't have to follow numerical order.

Are you kidding me?!

It's going to be the iPhone 5. Going from iPhone, to iPhone 3G and 3GS, to iPhone 4 and 4S, it only makes sense to call it the 5. The public doesn't care about generation numbers. If they did, Apple would've called them iPhone 1, 2, 3, 4, etc. Calling it the iPhone 6 would make no sense because the public would always be asking "What happened to the iPhone 5?" Literally every person I talk to about it calls it the iPhone 5. I even asked another forum I'm on and everyone said iPhone 5.

Just stop. It could be the iPhone 5, the iPhone 4G, the new iPhone, but it won't be iPhone 6

To a lot of us it is just as reasonable that it "could" be called an iPhone 5.

The 2nd gen iPhone was called a 3G, the 5th gen was called a 4S. So why couldn't they chose to call the 6th gen a iPhone 5?

EVERYONE here knows its the 6th Gen. What does that have (when has it ever had) anything to do with the name of the phone? Only one time in 5 previous models has the numeric model matched the generation. Pretty low ratio there.

You do realize the iPhone 3G was called that because it was the first iPhone to have 3G speeds, right? The "3" did not have anything to do with the numbering or the generation.

Just saying. I have no idea what the new one will be called but we should find out soon.

You've got to be kidding. I am good with math.

In order:

1, 2, 3, 6, 4, 5 see? It's iPhone 5!

Yes it is :D

The infuriating part about trying to discuss common sense with children is that they haven't learned it yet. These 'iPhone 6' kids have latched onto something they think gives them troll power and they're not letting go.

I'm as guilty as the next guy for feeding these trolls, but you really just want to smack these kids up side the head. But then you can't really lay a hand on someone else's 12 year old.

Y'all still think these leaks are the real next iPhone, right?

Apple could BUY that French site and put its own past prototype parts on there.

I'm still hoping for the iPhone that looks like a duck. Small, yellow and orange.

Seriously, why would suppliers risk ticking Apple off and losing their business in the next round? Why would employees risk losing their jobs smuggling busted parts out of the shop? Why wouldn't Apple engage in a little disinformation to teach a few competitors a few lessons?

If these leaks are part of an Apple disinformation campaign, I will laugh my butt off for hours. But I doubt it. If they were going to do that, they'd have released a bunch of things that didn't all line up with each other nicely so as to be terribly confusing, just in case something real DID leak.

Umm unless you've actually seen one of these, then only Apple and Foxconn know what the damn thing will look like.

I didn't realise that a post about an unreleased product on a RUMOURS site would need to be preceded by a disclaimer to the effect that the statements to follow would be based on what we have seen so far and what we can infer from this and that the final assessment was subject to change upon the receipt of new information.

Everything that anyone here is saying about the new iPhone is conjecture based on leaks and unconfirmed reports. It’s educated guesswork. That’s why it’s called a rumour, m’kay? Now run along now and play outside with the other little boys and girls. This is grown up talk.

Look, the next generation iPhone will probably just be called "The New iPhone", kind of like what they did with the iPad. Apple tends to keep trends within their own products. And it makes sense since this is likely a very large overhaul of the device.

Violence is a common response among those who are too dim witted to respond with words.

Geezus H-You know who!

Why does nearly EVERY one of the "new iPhone" forums devolve into a pit of WTH is it going to be called?

iPhone
iPhone 5
iPhone 6

So, are their really people who are not going to buy the new phone because of how Apple chooses to name it?

C'mon, get over it.
