Why do you guys still have old chargers lying around? Don't you sell them with the phone?
There's no way to actually tell.
It's hard for me to belive it.
I have and iPhone 7, so I have power brick.. but 5W. So with new iPhone I have to either buy one 18/20W from apple or one from third party company.
This. is. just. stupic. lol
For me personally, USB-C is the ONLY reason to upgrade, due to the convenience. Keeping lightning around is also bad for the environment, ESPECIALLY when all Apple's devices now support USB-C.Apple loves do this kind of stuff in stages.
I was expecting the EarPods getting removed this year, not the charger.
Also, with that move, they can't even replace Lightning in favor of USB-C because that'd alienate their current base, even if you can find good USB-C cables at any gas station these days.
USB-C on the iPhone is at the top of my wishlist but I get it.
"In my dream..." Not sure this is grounds for "corroborating" a rumour.
...And what's wrong with that? Most people DO already have chargers, and it's terrible for the environment. It's not like you HAVE to buy them from apple either, you have options. Cost savings would be nice, but this is Apple. Nuff said.
Then buy a charger from Apple, or hell a third party. Apple isn't the only option for fast chargers, and IMO are certainly not the best (IE Anker.) You save money too, and help the environment by buying cables that won't break in 5 minutes of use!yeah, maybe most people have those old chargers that take an iPhone Max forever to charge. If anything the PRO should still include the charger, and a bigger charger at that.
That's subjective. I think it's bad etiquette to fill the world with superfluous chargers. When someone spends 1000$ on a phone, it’s bad etiquette to make them spend more money to then actually use it, especially in a global recession. If you remember watching the keynote where they announced the separate stand price for the monitor it was met with instant criticism from the crowd. When it comes to the iPhone this could be something that could put more than enough of a bad taste in people’s mouth to just buy something else.
Apple only just started including the 18 watt charger with the 11 less than a year ago. If most people don’t have it, does that really make it superfluous? That's subjective. I think it's bad etiquette to fill the world with superfluous chargers.
What's objective fact is that currently you have no choice - all new iPhones come with a charger; this new approach adds choice.
It's hard for me to belive it.

Radio terminals intended to be connected to a network open to the public for the provision of telephone service cannot be marketed without an accessory making it possible to limit the 'exposure of the head to radio emissions during communications' . In other words, it is impossible to sell the iPhone without its headphones within the European Union.
I don’t know anything about this law, but in your quote it doesn’t say anything about it having to be included, so as long as Apple sells EarPods it seems to be something still true.
There will be earphone in the box, at least in France
This is a transcription of an EU law as described by Consomac
Radio terminals intended to be connected to a network open to the public for the provision of telephone service cannot be marketed without an accessory making it possible to limit the 'exposure of the head to radio emissions during communications' . In other words, it is impossible to sell the iPhone without its headphones within the European Union.
You're confusing "marketed" and "sold". As I interpret it they can sell it with and without, but have to make it available.
WHAT THE LAW SAYS ?
According to the government site’s radio portal, which was last updated on December 2, 2019, the law still requires the provision of a headset when selling a mobile phone to limit exposure.
Article L.34-9 of the Post and Electronic Communications Code: obligation to provide an accessory limiting the exposure of the head (headset type) when selling a mobile phone.
If Apple goes through with this process, it will be interesting to see how the iPhone marketed in France will differ from the international version.
Everyone saying they already have so many chargers lying around at home, how many of these are 18-20W fast chargers? I doubt very few, comparing the millions of 5W chargers you have to the big boys makes no sense.
There should be at least another generation of Pro devices with fast chargers.
Would be ironic if the cost savings from removing the accessories went to cover the costs of redesigning the packaging.
I really hope they don't go for the words "exquisite thinner box" when they're announcing it on stage.
