I like how the leaker is being very bold with his statement.

This is obvious! Of course we are going to see prices to hike. I can’t believe we have to wait till November to get our hands on 14” / 16” when the expected release date was over the summer.
Prrices were supposed to fall after switch to Apple silicon according to many posters here who were saying that Apple would pass the savings (not having to pay exorbitant prices for Intel processors) to the customers. Did something go wrong?

Prices technically fell in real terms though :p

Thinking the same I did buy the mbp 13” 16gb ram and 256GB ssd as I was thinking that I’ll update within a year anyway so I was thinking of buying 32gb ram and 1tb ssd of the next mbp 13/14”.

but now I’ll just upgrade my accessory I think. I have already started ;)
AirPods Max
32” LG 4K ultra fine
Webcame
Magic Mouse etc.
I had to stop using the Magic Mouse makes my wrist hurt! So just using the MX Master!

Yeah same here, the top shell is the display
Oh right, oops

I've actually replaced my display twice now due to blue discolouration. The Genius told me it was because I use it in clamshell mode so the display was constantly exposed to heat. A design flaw right there. I booked 3 appointments and only the last Genius managed to see the discolouration and approved the repair, one day before my AppleCare expired. It would have cost me £700 to repair out-of-warranty!

Also, they initially didn't want to replace the keyboard because they couldn't replicate the sticky keyboard. But my battery failed the diagnostics so they had to anyway. Not very satisfied with Apple Store repairs lately tbh.

Oled? No way. That’s a hole issue by it own.

touchscreen why? Got my iPhone and iPad for that
OLED is a nice technology, and the infinite contrast ratio makes things look great.

Not sure I agree that touchscreens are only useful on tablets and not laptops. There's a reason other manufacturers are making laptops with touchscreens. A touchscreen is useful for some use cases, particularly for apps like Photoshop. Sure, you can buy an external drawing tablet, but touchscreens on laptops still have their place, just as touchscreens on tablets do. I've got a touchscreen on my Lenovo laptop, but I can fold it over into tablet mode which makes the touchscreen more useful.

I just picked up my iPad Pro 12.9 with the apple keyboard.

3lbs.

Might just be the end weight for the 14".

Could definitely handle this. (no pun intended)

The 16” is going to rock in ways I can’t fully imagine yet.

OLED screen.
MagSafe.
Workstation level performance.
Stays cool on my lap.
Well its mini-LED, not OLED. There is an huge difference. And if the iPad Pro is any indicator, it isn't one that has been worth waiting for or paying for. The previous display is fine.

MagSafe is not an improvement at all. They are only doing this because they are taking away valuable Thunderbolt ports.

Workstation level performance with Apple Silicon is way overdue at this point. Comically overdue.

Yes, it will stay cool.

and yet they still don't have a touchscreen or OLED on the MacBook Pros...
Why would they? The thing has a keyboard and a trackpad. The best trackpad in the world, actually. It also has a UI that is not touch friendly or touch optimized in any way. Where is the value add in a touch screen? Zero.

Stop talking about it as if it is supposed to be there.

How about the ability to use iPhone and iPad apps? Touch would be useful for that, yeah?

Who would have thought they would raise the prices 🧐.
Look its fub to snark, but with the current chip fab capacity issues and Appke using tsmcs most advanced node I expect they oay a rather hefty premiom to book the capacity they deed for all their M/A series chips, not to mention all the r&d ( esp fore the rather young M series) this wil certainly reflect somewhat in the price, notto mention all the lawsuits appke had to fight atm, legal teams are not free. And it looks lije appke will lose their app srote and in app purchace monopoly on IOS/IpadOS/TVOS so I suspect they're trying to pad the hw margins a bit. Yea it sucks fir us costumers, but ehat can we do, othher than changing to another platform an leave behind all our app purchases etc, yea that's not lightly to hapoen is it.

Of course Apple will raise prices, it is what they have done regularly since Tim took over. With that being said, I can remember a time when the lowest end Apple portable was very expensive, I spent $1499 on a base model iBook G3 clamshell and I can remeber when the PowerBook was easily $3,000+
Ohh that was quite a few years ago, did you remember to inflation ajust those prices?

I have an iPhone and iPad for that.
That’s cool. It still is a good use case for a touchscreen on a Mac more than a trackpad/keyboard, if the ability to use iOS apps is going to be used at all.

Not everyone has an iPad or iPhone.

Think I'm gonna wait for M2X but still on the fence. Depends how much I can sell my 16" 2020 (2019) MBP for. Probably not a lot because Intel is dead unless I sell it to someone who doesn't follow Apple stuff. I tried using my M1 iPad Pro with keyboard and mouse but my new Brydge case broke and I just don't think it can replace a real Mac anytime soon for everything I need it to do, just some of it.
