Oh. I bet the 16" will have a 8TB option where the 14" may not. or maybe 2 SSDs? there has to be more than size of screen setting them apart.

They removed the $400 Touch Bar but the price is still going up? I guess $800 billion cash in the bank isn't enough. Are they going to give their employess a raise, or let them work full time instead of part tme to avoid giving them benefits? So Progressive of Tim Cook.

Don't forget that Apple doesn't have to pay license money to Intel.

So for us here in Canada, its going to start at $2500. Probably with 8 GBs of RAM too :/

Not surprised this, they do this with every major rev since the Retina I believe. Within a few years though, when I am likely to upgrade again, it should come down a bit (not betting on it). I prefer catching the tail end of every cycle though when all the bugs have been worked out.

I am so annoyed with Tim Cook always keeping „last years model“ to justify price increases on updated versions. Steve Jobs didn’t do it. He wanted his users to actually experience to best they can offer and didn’t settle with „last years models“. However, from a business perspective it’s smart of course but jeeze, I don’t even want to think of the Euro prices.
Funny, Apple sold the iPhone 3GS for years after the iPhone 4 came out in 2010. I'm sure there are plenty of other examples you're conveniently forgetting.

It will be interesting to see if the 14” matches graphically speaking or at least come close as historically we’re talking leagues between the current 13 Intel with integrated compared to the 16” with dedicated. I’d downsize in a heartbeat now I’m more mobile again post Covid but I don’t want to do that at the expense of masses of GPU grunt.

Please list these companies? Because due to the pandemic ALL tech companies were affected due to the chip shortage and loss of business due to closing up stores temporarily/permanent. No company would drop their prices when they are at a loss and short on inventory. Once again I would love for you to recite who these companies are.
I'm not going to do your work for you, but here is one: Samsung. Retail price: Fold 2 = $1999, Z Fold 3 = $1799. You are very uninformed, yet posting like you have knowledge.

The Samsung Fold? LMAO. Yep it creases alright. Innovation at it's best. 😂

And I will remind you that it was YOU that stated that other companies were dropping their prices. It's up to you for the burden of proof. Of course the Samsung Fold went down in price. When nobody is buying them that's the result. 😉

Apple's GPU scales linearly with cores at the 7 to 8 core level so even if that drops off a bit at 16 and 32 cores, considering how good the 8 core model is, a 16-core model should be really impressive and a 32-core amazingly so.

I assume the chip in the 16” MBP will be clocked higher at least, due to its greater thermal capacity?
I’m always entertained when people expect two different size devices to be exactly the same performance. Of course a bigger device has more potential. It’s simple physics. Should it be artificially limited to cater to some people’s inferiority complex? 😆

Current weight of MacBook pro 13" = 3lbs.
Current weight of MacBook pro 16" = 4.3lbs.

wonder what the new ones will be.

That is all you have? You've lost this argument and have been schooled. Run along now.
Ah nope I added that it's the burden of proof from you since YOU brought up that other companies have dropped prices. Apparently what I said had an effect. Not surprising since it was true. 😂 Nobody wants the Sammy Fold which is why they were forced to drop prices. No innovation. Just a useless gimmick.

My current MacBook Pro 13” is $2800 aud for 16GB of Ram and 1TB storage.

Looks like this 14” will have a starting price of $3800 aud for 8GB RAM and 256GB storage with 16” being $4300 aud and high end 16” model with 32GB RAM and 4TB storage might go upwards of $6000 aud. It’s way out of touch even for semi professional users. Apple pricing of these computers are just insane. With the discontinuation of 13”, everyone who wants a MacBook that has a fan would need to shell out $2000 more. Sure, Better screen and more powerful processor but seriously? From when active cooling becomes a luxury? It’s not like M1 never throttle under any amount of load.

With Tim Cook, it shouldn’t be hard to see M2X MacBook Pro 16” having an eye watering starting price of $5000 aud with 16GB of RAM and 256GB storage and top of the line one with 64GB of RAM and 4TB storage cost $8000 aud or even $10000 aud. So much for apple silicon. Wait, do we ever have a MacBook that costs $5000 aud today? I don’t think there is any.

I think the headline of this is a bit misleading based on what's said in the article. Headline seems to imply all the MacBook Pros are going up in price. The content just seems to imply the small one is gonna get as fast as the big one for the first time ever, and as a result the price is somewhat understandably gonna rise to nearer that of the big one (rather than traditionally the smaller one was noticeably cheaper, but not nearly as powerful as the big one).

Various folks have discussed how little differentiation there is between the current M1 Air and M1 Pro, so kinda makes sense they have 2 sizes of expensive "genuine Pro" machine if they can (lets call it M1X?), then have only the Air fill the lightweight and cheaper part of the line-up. Then next year they can ditch both the current M1 laptops and just replace it with a new redesigned (M2?) Air as the light/cheap machine, if the rumours of it coming some point next year are true (Since M1 will be best part of 1.5+ years old by then).

Obvs I have no crystal ball, but I don't see the point in a 13" Air and a 13" Pro with the same processor in if they're all losing the touch bar, and there's going to be a 14" M1X Pro that kicks the M1's ass. Would make sense to either go M2 Air for cost/weight, or M1X Pro (or then later M2X) for performance.

(Ahh, trying to refer to guessed future processor names after only a single processor has been released is a fools game, but hopefully you followed my thought process at least. 🤣)

You've lost. The additional nonsensical blather is useless. Good day to you.

I’ll be honest, there’s something about this leak that reeks of Apple trying to expose a leaker. It just seems so specific but general at the same time, like it reveals nothing we didn't already know but the information has been presented in such a specific way. I can’t put my finger on what makes me think this but it just gives me this vibe.
